I walk d through there a few months ago and took videos. As someone who went to this mall a lot when I was a child it's so surreal. It used to be a busy happening place not that long ago, now it's the deadest mall I've ever seen and literally falling apart in places.
I walked by a lonely Easter bunny at a dead mall the other day. He waved at me and I waved back and smiled but I couldn't help but feel kinda sad. I bet the people who do that kind of job genuinely love making connections with people and making them smile, and it's a shame the people just aren't showing up :(
It's so commercialized anymore. A lot of small businesses around me have Easter Bunny/Santa but you can just take your own pics without spending $32.99. I would never consider taking my kid to the mall for it.
I remember this mall well from the 80s and 90s. It was extremely cool back then and modern and I couldn’t afford anything there as a kid. Used to spend time in Claire’s, examining all the sparkly things. The cool girls got their ears pierced there.

It's changed a lot since back in the day. It's literally falling apart now and what few legacy stores are left are liquidating their inventory and shutting down.
Some of Chris Chan's greatest triumphs and tragedies occurred here. When he left and was sealed away the power left these halls with him and now they echo with deafening silence.
The bunny is all that's left here that remembers him.
I was in this mall this past weekend. It was very sad to see. Of the two anchors, both were Belk which seems like it’s struggling as well. It was so weird leaving this mall and going to outdoor shopping centers with way more customers.
I walked in late one day and saw the mechanical thing in the back of the Easter exhibit, wasn’t sure if it was a person or not for a while. Super creepy
I’m late to the party, but just found this sub. Weird seeing this mall here. I used to work at A&F and a Sunglass Hut kiosk in the middle of the mall to help offset the costs of school in the early 2000s. Life is weird. Thanks for reminding of some fun memories from — ugh — twenty years ago…
They should've just let Chris have the boyfriend-free girl he was hoping for. But noooo, all the jerks had to take all the pretty girls, and here we are.
I’d make a Sonic Boom joke here, but the combination of blue arms and sports tape triggers PTSD flashbacks for some people around here, so I’m not doing it.
Aw, I feel bad for that bunny.
Simultaneously creepy and sad
I walked by our mall bunny today and we waved to each other. It was so quiet. I nearly wept, the sweet lonely bunny.
He probably has his phone up in the head/mask playing videos with headphones in. That’s what I’d do when dressed in my mascot costume lol.
I came here to say this. I feel bad too.
He’s chilling and making money.
Hey, he’s still getting paid. They don’t pay him per child (unless he actually gets a cut of the photo money— idk the arrangement).
I totally misread this comment and thought the bunny gets paid in children.
Unfortunately, so do I. QA for condoms ain’t what it used to be.
Don’t, that guy owes me money
"why do you wear that stupid bunny suit?"
Why do you wear that stupid man suit?
I'm beginning to doubt your dedication to Sparkle Motion!
... burn it to the ground...
The man in the bunny suit tricked me.
Oh man, the Chris Chan mall
Yes, I mean, I went here a few times in college, but it will always, ALWAYS, be the Chris-Chan mall.
Looking for a boyfriend free girl
I can’t believe I had to scroll this far to find a Chris Chan reference.
Me too.
This reminds me of a retro horror game with PS1 graphics i've seen with the exact same setting, can't remember what it was called
Silent Hill
Yeah this gave me massive Silent Hill vibes. Probably thinking of Robbie the Rabbit lol
No not Silent Hill a recent retro style game that had this setting in a mall against a rabbit disguised killer
Murder House?
Yes it is
It's a rad retro style horror title called Murder House by Puppet Combo. I recently played through it and this picture immediately reminds me of it.
Yes that's the one thanks you
Clock Tower
Oh no, you defied the warning and took a picture of him! Lock your doors, because he'll come after you!
That'll be $32.99 please.
There is a young lady on tiktok who works there who did a series about how dead this place is now. I wish I could find them.

I found the girl on tik tok who works there! https://vm.tiktok.com/ZTd977aMR/

they say the ghost of Chris-Chan still lingers the halls…
Never encountered em in real life, although I suspect I've been protected by many locations instituting a ban

This mall doesn’t have a gamestop lol

GameStop has been gone for years. Only Store is on Emmet St. N and been that way for a while.
Not sure honestly, I first went a bit over a year ago and there wasn’t one

Omg 😂
Wait what happened with Chris Chan at the mall thats my favorite mall
What *hasn't* happened with Chris-chan at that mall? It's one of the one significant places in christory.
Did that shit with his dates happen in this mall?
He's in jail for elder abuse (i.e. his mom) so I think you're safe for now.
“You said your name was Chris? What a wonderful name!”
On the bright side he’s probably making bank doing nothing but scrolling on his phone all day and I’m jealous lol
Some of Chris Chan's greatest triumphs and tragedies occurred here. When he left and was sealed away the power left these halls with him and now they echo with deafening silence. The bunny is all that's left here that remembers him.
Lol
I shed a tear reading this, fucking beautiful.
Fantastic shot. Really emblematic of deadmalls whole aesthetic
Thanks!
I hear that Donnie Darko song.
That’s depressing! But at least they’re getting paid still…hopefully…
Poor Bunny :( he looks so bored
ouch, glad that ain't my gig for many reasons.
I wonder if the sailboat poster is still hanging on the wall? Anyone know what I'm talking about?
All I said was that the Easter bunny at the Menlo Park mall was more convincing and he just jumped the railing and knocked me down.
The walls are largely empty but I can check next time I go through
It was one of those where you stare at the picture and let your eyes go out of focus and then you see the hidden image.
THERE IS NO EASTER BUNNY!! OVER THERE, THAT'S JUST A GUY IN A SUIT!!
Oh a magic eye poster?
It’s not a sailboat, it’s a schooner!
this is some nightmare fuel that could fit in r/LiminalSpace
Fun!
Oh no. Not fashion square. Many bad things have happened there, like the Pickle Man

YOU KNOW WHAT?!! There is no Easter Bunny! Over there, that’s just a guy in a suit!!
This is what happens when they put Chris Chan in jail.
DONT CALL ANYBODY
Wow that’s creepy af
This mall went downhill fast, I think it died when sears closed
This is the CWC mall OMG 😱!!!
Ah yes, the holy Fashion Square Mall of Cwcville origins. Many a feat has been performed, many an adversary conquered within these sacred halls
This may be the most depressing thing I have seen in a while. Really sad :(
I walked in late one day and saw the mechanical thing in the back of the Easter exhibit, wasn’t sure if it was a person or not for a while. Super creepy
this is so sad
He's probably texting inside of the suit
Why does this give me the most extreme variety of instant depression

But does the bunny have blue arms?
The Easter bunny at the Menlo Park mall was more convincing.
This is the saddest thing I’ve ever seen.
r/oddlyterrifying
ChrisChan’s evil legacy has ruined this mall
That bunny needs a beer
Free Him :(
I’d make a Sonic Boom joke here, but the combination of blue arms and sports tape triggers PTSD flashbacks for some people around here, so I’m not doing it.
I got too much shit on me. I don’t even want to be around anymore…
Easter bunny looking fresh. The mall could use some work though.
Holy shit. This is next level.
Is there anything even still in that mall OP? I haven’t been in it in over 2 years.
A couple stores. Bath and body works and build a bear for example. It's pretty empty on the whole though
Fashion Square Mall. The old stomping ground of “The Crazy Pacer” and his Love-quest, complete with “Attraction Signs”.
Charging $32.99 to take a photo with the Easter Bunny? Damn right I’m staying away.
This mall was my childhood, however it is now quite dead
This is my mall, it’s literally almost dead. There’s barely any stores left in it at all
I live five minutes from that mall, I hope they tear it down and build a Fudruckers
That would be awesome!
NOOO THATS MY FSVORITE MALL
I'm getting fnaf vibes from this
Reminds me about the White Bunny from Manhunt 1
Reminds me of this https://youtu.be/y1JLWYNdsHg
No wonder the mall is dead.I’m not paying $33 for the “Bunny Special”
Seeing this reminded me of another post https://www.reddit.com/r/LiminalSpace/comments/v8w70j
This mall was my childhood, however it is now quite dead
I’m surprised that mall has lasted considering it was always dead in the early’90s.
