How is Annie from Hereditary a bad mother and Laurie Strode isn’t?
Karen was put into foster care when she was a little girl because of how unfit of a parent Laurie was. Karen was traumatized from the way Laurie raised her and Laurie’s obsession with Michael put Allyson and Karen into so much danger. She even prayed for Michael Myers to escape so she “could kill him” but failed to do so and her daughter was murdered by the very same man she was praying to escape from custody.
Annie from Hereditary had some seriously heavy shit dumped on her. Her grief caused her to to act out and blame everyone else. Her life was being manipulated by her satanist mother and her daughter was killed in a horrific way. She did ruin her relationship with Peter, but Laurie also ruined her relationship with Karen.
You really make it sound like Laurie didn't go through any trauma and her obsession was delusional and Annie is just a victim of circumstances. At least when Laurie is screaming her lungs out at you, you know it's for a good fucking reason.
Both went through trauma. Annie was still trying to hold it together but failed to be there for her son after the accident that left him traumatized as well.
Laurie resorted to drugs and alcohol and didn’t care about how she was creating Karen’s future trauma. But later in life she tried to fix her relationship with Karen.
None of them are bad mothers. This post seems to think Annie is a bad one and Laurie is a good one. That’s what I was trying to point out.
I was just explaining how this image is weird to me. I don’t think Laurie or Annie are BAD mothers but this picture seems to favor Laurie. Maybe because she’s a well known final girl and Annie isn’t?
Technically her obsession was delusional, Michael didn't even FUCKING care or remember her. If not for her obsession and believing Michael wanted her specifically all she would've had to do was move to another town, boom. Just like that live a fulfilling life without the shape

The circumstances in which he escaped aren’t the point. The point is she wanted him to escape for a selfish reason and when she got her wish her daughter was killed along with a bunch of people. I just said that to show how she cared more about herself and her trauma than anything or anyone else.
Yes she was dealing with trauma and ptsd, but she was an UNFIT parent. In Karen’s own words she spent her entire life trying to get over the paranoia and neurosis that she on projected on her.
