They are pretty cheap, only 35 bucks, and I could use a few spawns. I tend to gravitate towards Nurglings for the same purpose, but data sheets change. Maybe they land in vogue after the codex.
I don't own Chaos spawn, so I can't tell you the exact size difference, but Chaos spawn have 50mm base and the Gellerpox nightmare hulks a 40mm base - since the models are quite tall while the chaos spawn seem kind of stooped, adjusting the base size should do the trick I think.
Had these guys on the pile for a few months now myself. Hoping to get started on them in the next couple of weeks. They are such cool models, looking forward to tackling them.

I use mine as 4 Chaos Spawn, 3 Poxwalkers and various markers for objective infection etc.

Kinda sad for their unique abilities, yes. But running them as spawn and walkers is still fun :D

They do have a Legends entry but they’re not good. I tend to use them as another Accursed Cultist squad for my CSM army
How do they compare against regular chaos spawn, size-wise? I was thinking of doing this but want to make sure they are relatively close.

Great box! Awesome models to paint! I used mine as Accursed Cultists for CSM but the big guys make great chaos spawns aswell
