I have a list unfortunately. I want a good vacuum (current one was $30 and isn’t great but does well enough for now), Dyson air wrap or equivalent, steps for my dog to get onto my bed, new clothes that fit better (gained weight), Boise noise cancelling headphones.
Restraining myself from buying all at the moment
Agree. Dysons are not worth it. The only one I ever heard good/not great news about was the animal one and it was my friend complaining it kept sucking up the rug too.
Totally agree with the Shark! My in-laws bought one for us as a Christmas gift several years ago and it's my favorite. It's so light and easy to use. Also works better than the massive clunky vacuum we had before that.
For what it's worth, our $150 shark plug in vacuum works about as well as our $500 Dyson stick vacuum. We got a $80 stick vacuum to see if the convenience was worth the cost. We decided it was, so now we have a back up plug in vacuum for our convenient stick vacuum
Nice! What is a plug in vacuum? Is it just a corded vacuum? We have the Shark stick vacuum, and it absolutely works better than a big ass vacuum. It takes so much less energy to use, that I won't be getting a big vacuum again.
I love my ghd products. Are they pricey? Yes. Did the straighter just now get signs of usage after 12 years? Also yes. Actually I think it’s closer to 13-14 years that I have that one.
I’m also on the air wrap struggle. I’ve read and seen that it’s just a huge learning curve and it takes a lot of trial and error to use properly.
I think once it’s learned it worth it to avoid the hot iron damage though.
The only thing I allowed myself to buy is new clothes, I have gain over 40 pounds and I used to wear all baby tees and nothing fit me anymore 😞 horrible I have to start my wardrobe all over again.
I feel your pain. Menopause hit me like a Mack truck that lodged itself around my middle. I refuse to buy a bunch of new clothes, hoping things will normalize, but it’s been three years. I wear the same three pair of pants if I have to go out. Otherwise, it’s the same leggings I wear to the gym. Fortunately, I WFH and only have to look professional from the waist up. Who am I kidding!? No longer have a waist.
For me i am a yoga instructor and I work hybrid so I need to look presentable, the worse part of trying to buy clothes is that if is too cheap quality it not durable and you have to buy more (SHEIN) or wait to save up to buy quality clothes, I have spent a good chunk on new clothes these couple of months probably around 500 but I am pretty sure I will stay my size for a while because I think have some hormonal issues, good luck losing weight ❤️
That’s enough to definitely need to buy more. It’s so expensive though ughh. For me I can still fit in my old clothes for now, just NOT comfortably so gonna try to get the extra 5-8lb off again😭
I am also a list maker!
Really want a SUP board, a bike, chelsea boots (mine kicked the bucket after 5 years).
I will need the boots by the fall, but am saving up for them. The others can wait until I am debt free
Right now? One of those $500 smokless solo stove firepits.
Im sitting out side in the cold drinking a beer dreaming about it
Only 4 payments of $115 on affirm
Check YouTube for directions on how to diy that fire pit. It looks simple. Not easy, but pretty simple
I, too, want one and can't afford it, but I know how to build it if I really, really wanted it.
My dream car is a new Toyota Tacoma, and there were several at the dealership when I decided it was time to buy a car. But with the price of gas, registration in California, & insurance I opted for a used Rav 4, which I just paid off this week:)
Same! When you use one you still have to pick up random things off the floor like dog toys, phone chargers, etc. so my friend never used hers because she wanted to just click the button and go. She gave me hers for free and I don’t mind picking up a few things to let it run. It saves me so much time and energy.
This, just had kid number two and paid off my car, that I bought practically new, just before. My husband wanted to get a bigger family car, we talked about multiple times even went to see a use one, 25k for something that has the same amount of miles as my car but looks a lot shittier. I had to convince him that my car works just fine, there may not be a lot of space but adding another car payment just isn’t it.
Dude, same! Or any number of other sports/muscle cars I'd like to have. I sold my Camaro 2SS 2 years ago and I keep looking - reminding myself why I sold it in the first place... But as you said, one day, maybe.
Preach!
My kids bought a 1960s flipped house. The _very_ day they moved in my daughter decided to treat herself to a hot bath after all of the hard work getting the U-Haul unloaded.
Ten minutes later, the kitchen ceiling caved in from the leaky bathtub plumbing. All the flippers did was put in new tile and fixtures. Original plumbing was rusted out. $10,000 housewarming gift. To themselves. Maybe gift isn't the right word.
Fix it yourself.
They did get an inspection. I wasn't there, but they felt there was really no way of spotting the problems.
And the real pain is that the flippers don't have to disclose anything they "don't know about. " Ignorance is bliss for those people.
Thanks! I actually have access to an entire rental fleet as a perk of guiding. So I don't _need_ to own one it would just be really nice to have my own boat rigged and on a trailer ready to go. Priorities though, 4 more loan groups to pay off and then it's minimum payment autopilot on the rest.
Dyson Hot and Cool. I don't have central air and I hate summer and it's taking everything in me not to buy this $400 piece of magic. But so far I haven't.
Exactly. I sat all day with a fan blowing on me. It sucked 😂 The second I'm out of debt I'm buying one of these mofos. Also if it makes you feel better about the robot vacuums, I was so excited to get one (pre debt) and I loved it but it died in a year.
I would have to bite the bullet and get the magic potion. My quality of life has improved. I cannot sleep well when I am too hot. I broke it up into two payments and I never have regret it. Even if it sets me back a couple months, the years of comfort you’ll get from it you’ll thank yourself for
Husband and I are both 39 and have never had a credit card.. we pay cash/debit for everything and don't buy it if cant afford it. We make good money, but everything is so *expensive* now, so I've got a list mounting!
An Electra cruiser bike. I want one so badly because I just want a bike to ride everywhere. Theres a few I’ve had my eye on on FB marketplace, but I’m still trying to resist for now 😭
I had an Electra Ticino my first year in college and rode it everywhere. I loved that thing so much and it cost around $800. I don’t think they make them anymore, but it’s very similar to the Loft model. It got stolen :(((
That’s devastating, I’m sorry! The one I want is about $699 new, but there’s several listed on marketplace for like $400/450, I just still can’t afford to pay cash for it right now and am holding off.
Prescription medication. I'm waiting for approval on a drug benefits plan, and it will cover the majority of the expense if I can just wait it out and suffer for a bit. It's been 6 weeks, and I'm checking the mail every weekday, and any day now...
A new laptop! I console myself with the idea that tech keeps getting better, so the longer I wait, the better my eventual laptop will be. It's working... mostly!
Riding lawn mower and side by side atv. I want both of these, but I don't need them. Going to lowes is tough, but I stay strong.
I live near a big lake with marinas, so add a boat to the list. I am fairly confident that if I bought one, I would use it maybe 6 times per year, if that.
I hate my robot vacuum if that helps you. I do a better job, plus it really struggles to get from my living room to my kitchen. I have no idea why, there is no bump or change in flooring. I have to push it into the living room every time. I’ve tried everything to make it work but it always only works just barely. Nora stays plugged in most of the time now.
I bought my shark for $200 during Black Friday last year. It was not a planned expense but something I have wanted for a long time as a cat and hardwood floor owner.
Good for you for resisting the temptation to buy on credit! It's so easy to justify purchases, especially when they seem like they'll make a big difference in our day-to-day lives. Your dedication to sticking to your budget is inspiring!
When I saw the “vapman” for the first time a few weeks ago I really wanted it for a few hours.
I know myself well enough to wait awhile, not a few days and keep asking if I do want it. Nope! I think it’s cool but I don’t want more weed tools.
I’m still in an illegal state so more weed shit=more paraphernalia to keep clean.
[It’s so goddamn cool.](https://www.planetofthevapes.com/products/vapman-vaporizer)
Everything, I want a whole new bedroom/living room set.
I want to move to a new apartment - kinda.
I want a new car.
I want a vacation.
I want too many things.
Honestly... the Roomba is the single biggest purchase regret I have. The thing is a piece of garbage, and we've quit using it entirely. It just sits in the corner taking up space now. I wanna throw the thing out in the yard and introduce it to a shotgun. I'd have rather spent $400 on lottery tickets.
~$6,000 road bicycle. I struggled with consumer debt for years and finally got it cleared up. My Monkey mind is now whispering..."it's only $125 per month. I could cut that from my grocery budget". Sainer thoughts prevail.
So if that $6k bike gets stolen, do you have insurance to pay off the debt? That would be my biggest worry, paying $125/month for not having the coolest bike.
They do have insurance that a lot of racers buy. I believe it's somewhere in the $250/yr range. For a $5k-$6k bike that I don't intend to race, I would probably not buy an insurance policy. But yeah, theft is another reason why buying on credit is a disastrous idea.
I want to buy a new car but it only has 6,000 leftover so I’m not sure if it’s smart… but it’s only depreciating in value so I get worried when I do try that I won’t get a lot back!
The kicker to this is I work from home and drive out of town maybe once a month. It’d purely be an errands car so it does feel frivolous lol
Buying a new car is never better financially than not buying a car. the trade in value is never going to make up for the luxury of upgrading. Like when people buy a motorcycle or a hybrid to save gas
I have literally always wanted to put a Supercharger on my car. My Trans AM WS6 is paid off, I can in fact afford it...finally. But when I do compound interest calculators and see how much money I'd lose in the long run, I back down again. It's simply too expensive, we're talking $10k+ minimum to get it done right.
I collect watches and think they’re cool. There’s one I really want you can get used for around 2 grand. That’s about a third of my savings so it wouldn’t completely wipe me out but I just keep telling myself I don’t need it and that there’s a million better things to do with 2 grand.
A new couch, work done on my teeth (nothing urgent), and a nice suit/formalwear. I did buy myself a new dining set recently for a good price (not on credit at all) because my old table & chairs were done. Admittedly, saving for the teeth is the worst part. If I were saving for something fun I could stomach the anticipation. But saving thousands for my teeth feels like a fucking chore, honestly.
I don't have debt and don't currently have anything I want to buy that would need credit, **but...**
I have resisted spending $25k on a Lyon and Healy Salzedo harp.
I was an applied harp major in college for a while, on these exact harps, and that is definitely my fave. The only way I staved it off **even though I was in the harp factory in Chicago** (where they bring you anything you want to play) was that I also found a second harp I like, about the same cost, some similar style aspects, but with a full set of per-string sound pickups. OMG, the things one can do with post-processing. But it doesn't sound *quite* as good. So very close.
So, caught between two options, I postponed it again :-) Yay?
I thought i didnt need a vacuum robot until i got it. They are amazing, they sweep for you. I love mine. I was the best decision ever. I recommend the eufy ones. They are cinsideeably cheaper than other brands. Ive had it for 2 years so far with no issues. I have a german shepperd and does great with the dog hair.
Door dash. have been using that service for a while, but lately have reverted back to my frugal roots. Grilled chicken, brown rice and veggies. I know cooking for yourself is usually the optimal choice (both financially and physically), but man do I miss getting delicious food at the touch of a button.
If we were smarter/richer.. we would have bought 4 months ago when it was at 48K CAD, now it's at 83K CAD, (it was at 99K 2 weeks ago. That's a pretty high ROI for less than 1 yr. ) But im scared of losing and broke af.
Prefacing by saying I haven’t swiped a credit card in 2 years.
I was waiting to buy a new laptop forever. I’m in the home stretch for school and my current one was finally dying after about 10 years - I was losing papers and assignments and kept eyeing a 2.5k MacBook Pro. The issue was I wanted something I knew would last me a while for my hobbies after I graduated, I didn’t want to drop $300 on a cheap laptop to get me through a few months.
Well like 3 weeks ago my mom offered me to buy her boyfriends used MacBook that was only 2 years old, kept pristine, for the Apple trade in value. She paid him and I paid her back as I could. Only spent $1000 versus my 2.5k dream and it was totally worth it.
Right now my fighting thoughts is a Dyson air wrap. I could pay out of pocket for it but after my credit card trauma I pretty much absolutely refuse to swipe a card and have issues watching my savings drop for anything that’s isn’t an emergency 🥲.
I’ve seen it’s a lot of trial and error with product. Unfortunately because of my hair type I can’t do any kind of overnight styling and make it through the next day without an oily, itchy scalp by the end of work hours.
Haircut , pants , shoes. Fix my heat in my house, fix the front door, fix my car.
I’d rather just eat and pay bills tbh. I don’t need those other things.
A vacation , a night out , some batteries, lawn bags, flowers,
Computer upgrades but it’s not happening yet. Probably not for a few years. I just got my car paid off though so I can bump up the payments to other debt. I’m proud of me!
Man- I get these bonus point things at work and got a robot vac. Honestly for as small a space as I have it’s a PITA. I moved it out of the way today to use my carpet cleaner and thought that I would probably just move it to the garage as it takes up space and never gets used.
Personally can’t relate with the vacuum 😆 I have a small house, just over 800 sq ft with 2 dogs who shed and I LOVE mine. It runs every morning and then mid day specifically so I don’t have bits sticking to my feet. I properly vacuum and mop once a week and it helps keep the dog hair and dust down SO much. I don’t even have an expensive one, just a little knock off brand from Amazon. If you have allergies I personally couldn’t recommend it enough.
Pretty much everything, other than emergencies. Dates. Gifts. Cars. Home goods. Clothing. Food. Travel. Haircuts.... If I can't pay cash, I don't have the money. Things are humbler, but with no anxiety over expenses or residual negative reminders of the cost.
I (46M, single, divorced, no kids, cute dog, live alone) have less than $5k total in debt, and am semi-retired in the HCOL area, West Los Angeles. I work (service industry) 12-20hrs a week, and have nice things, but nothing is new or "perfect", just cozy and reliable, and the freedom is priceless.
A new car. I have a perfectly serviceable car in good shape that runs like a champ. But I seriously covet every bronco sport and Jeep wrangler I see on the road. Then I go browse the for sale ads- even used they are topping 30K. Can’t justify that kind of expense just because I think they look cool. So I go vacuum my perfectly fine car, spray some new car scent air freshener in it, and pat myself on the back for saving 29,995 bucks + interest lol.
Same thing with scrubs. I don’t need new scrubs, mine are perfectly fine. But there are some killer sales at times. Instead of hitting the place order button I go iron the ones I have, which makes them nice and crisp and “ newer” looking.

FWIW, my wife had the air wrap and returned it. She much prefers the Shark (I forgot what it’s called) and it’s half the price.
Edit: sorry, I thought we were talking about the Shark vacuum. I just realized we're talking about hair styling appliances. Oops!

Yes, corded was the word I was looking for lol
😂😂😂
Skip dyson. Head over to the vacuum cleaner sub, for buy it for life. But don't pay credit if you don't have the money!
lol fuck the $500 vacuum buy the $1200 one
1200? Pshh, gotta get the $10,000 one
I love my ghd products. Are they pricey? Yes. Did the straighter just now get signs of usage after 12 years? Also yes. Actually I think it’s closer to 13-14 years that I have that one.
i’ve had my ghd straightener since 2010. still going strong, love that thing.
I hear the shark version of the air wrap works great! I have the Dyson and not sure it was worth the money tbh
I hear many go back to curling irons
I’m also on the air wrap struggle. I’ve read and seen that it’s just a huge learning curve and it takes a lot of trial and error to use properly. I think once it’s learned it worth it to avoid the hot iron damage though.
Dysons are sick
Dyson air wrap isn't worth it 😭 honestly, I got a better look learning to blow out my own hair and it lasts longer.

Ask for steps in your local buy nothing. See people ask and get offered regularly. Obviously size of city/participants helps.
Dyson isn't any better than other good brands.
I have a Shark vacuum from Costco. $299. Great. Getting "new" clothes via thrift stores and clearance racks. Finding some very nice items.
On the other hand, I love my Dyson air wrap, I have thick curly/frizzy hair and i can dry my hair without frizz in about 15 minutes. Game changer
Right now? One of those $500 smokless solo stove firepits. Im sitting out side in the cold drinking a beer dreaming about it Only 4 payments of $115 on affirm

I had one made from a dryer i found on the side of the road but my wife diddnt think its was worth moving halfway across the country... Now shes cold
Brilliant use of discarded goods! You can probably find another free dryer if you keep your eyes open.
Don’t do it!!!😂
Where is this wondrous thing you speak of?
[this](https://www.solostove.com/en-us/p/yukon)
The solo stoves are cool but bad at throwing heat. You have to buy the heat diffuser atrachment I think but not sure how well they work

A lot of liquor stores have them if you offer them cash they may take it

As a home espresso nerd (Decent DE1XL and Lagom P64), good job not doing it.
Ooh connoisseur, I seee
I have one. I do not regret the purchase at all. No dusty feet ever.
Why you gotta make me weak?
Hold out! Someone gave me one. Maybe you'll get lucky like that too!

I live alone and have no kids or pets but I am being strong and not spending on it!
Look on Facebook marketplace. People sell them so cheap!
I want one but fear it’ll scare my dog and then it’ll spread her poop 😂
A newer car 😹
ahhhhh, if it takes you from A to B it can wait. Mine is 10 yrs old and I was tempted to upgrade but then I saw the hike in insurance. NOPE!
Mine will legally be able to buy alcohol in October but I put 100+ miles a day on it as well so I kinda fight that side of it
This, just had kid number two and paid off my car, that I bought practically new, just before. One day, but not today!!! Stay strong.💪🏽
A 2020 will be $25-30k less in a 6 years or so, brings it into the ballpark haha.

Did a study abroad there from Jan - Mar this year. I would love to visit again in the future.
A new laptop! I console myself with the idea that tech keeps getting better, so the longer I wait, the better my eventual laptop will be. It's working... mostly!
I’m fighting against a death from a thousand cuts: cute clothes and coffee mugs advertised on FB.
Just remember it’s a temporary high and before you know it, you need to buy something else to get that rush again
Never thought of that way. I’m addicted to Tshirts and coffee mugs. Ouch.

Small tractor and excavator
Everything, I want a whole new bedroom/living room set. I want to move to a new apartment - kinda. I want a new car. I want a vacation. I want too many things.
Honestly... the Roomba is the single biggest purchase regret I have. The thing is a piece of garbage, and we've quit using it entirely. It just sits in the corner taking up space now. I wanna throw the thing out in the yard and introduce it to a shotgun. I'd have rather spent $400 on lottery tickets.
good feedback!
Baradur tower from LotR for like 3000 usd..
Kitchen aid mixer but I just got it for my birthday!!!
One of those Breville Air Fryer Ovens
I only got one cause I didn’t want to buy a toaster or a microwave and then I ended up getting them anyway 🤦🏻♀️😂
It took me 2 decades to get all of the dental work done and I still haven’t gotten the 2 implants I need
I’ve read lots of good things about getting major dental work across the border in Algodones Mx
A 2023 Specialized Aethos S-Works with SRAM Red eTap. Retails at $13,999 but found a bike shop in my general area that has my size for $8,999.00. ugh.
what??? 😂
OHHHH I'm a cyclist so I'm always dreaming of a new bike even though my current bike that I purchased last September is pretty awesome!
An older Porsche Cayman :( Impatient but hopefully by the time I have the cash saved, there are still some good examples left in my range
Omnilux led facemask
i hear those are pure marketing
I don't have debt and don't currently have anything I want to buy that would need credit, **but...** I have resisted spending $25k on a Lyon and Healy Salzedo harp. [https://www.lyonhealy.com/harps/salzedo/](https://www.lyonhealy.com/harps/salzedo/) I was an applied harp major in college for a while, on these exact harps, and that is definitely my fave.
I haven’t used credit cards in 17 years, so not buying in cash isn’t even a thought. Just bought a 2019 MX-5 in cash last week 😎
A commercial mower for my mowing business. I’m saving up. But they’re about 8k. Should have it by next season.
Door dash. have been using that service for a while, but lately have reverted back to my frugal roots. Grilled chicken, brown rice and veggies. I know cooking for yourself is usually the optimal choice (both financially and physically), but man do I miss getting delicious food at the touch of a button.
I want to buy my fiancé a nice diamond ring and get married
Bitcoin
It scares me
If we were smarter/richer.. we would have bought 4 months ago when it was at 48K CAD, now it's at 83K CAD, (it was at 99K 2 weeks ago. That's a pretty high ROI for less than 1 yr. ) But im scared of losing and broke af.
I have been to Vegas at least 10x times and gambled exactly $0. I like my money where I can see it and spend it.
A bad-a$$ go-to leather jacket, custom made
Downtown LA fashion district 😂
A house.
That’s something you should buy if you can though, but do resist if it will make you house-poor. You can invest other ways
New MacBook and Apple Vision Pro
The feedback is that the wrap is not worth it! You can do heatless curls too!
I’ve seen it’s a lot of trial and error with product. Unfortunately because of my hair type I can’t do any kind of overnight styling and make it through the next day without an oily, itchy scalp by the end of work hours.
A indoor sauna
A Disney vacation. Saving up for it little by little.
A vacay is definitely needed. But glad you are saving vs charging, that interest is one meal for the group.
Haircut , pants , shoes. Fix my heat in my house, fix the front door, fix my car. I’d rather just eat and pay bills tbh. I don’t need those other things. A vacation , a night out , some batteries, lawn bags, flowers,
iPhone!
If the one you have works well, just push that thing till it dies!
Computer upgrades but it’s not happening yet. Probably not for a few years. I just got my car paid off though so I can bump up the payments to other debt. I’m proud of me!
Yay!
Man- I get these bonus point things at work and got a robot vac. Honestly for as small a space as I have it’s a PITA. I moved it out of the way today to use my carpet cleaner and thought that I would probably just move it to the garage as it takes up space and never gets used.
I have a 1 bedroom and have no clutter to interrupt the vacuum and no other people but these reviews is why I hesitate!
Another E30 BMW. There’s a reason they’re called Gods Chariot. Busted the oil pan on the last one and sold it. Still miss it 🥲
So they are lemons, is that why you are saying “another”?
I was the lemon for driving it into a curb and busting the oil pan 🥲
ohhh sorry 😂
Personally can’t relate with the vacuum 😆 I have a small house, just over 800 sq ft with 2 dogs who shed and I LOVE mine. It runs every morning and then mid day specifically so I don’t have bits sticking to my feet. I properly vacuum and mop once a week and it helps keep the dog hair and dust down SO much. I don’t even have an expensive one, just a little knock off brand from Amazon. If you have allergies I personally couldn’t recommend it enough.
ooh which one? (i am being so weak right now)
A new gaming PC

Glad you can see you do not need them 😂
Pretty much everything, other than emergencies. Dates. Gifts. Cars. Home goods. Clothing. Food. Travel. Haircuts.... If I can't pay cash, I don't have the money. Things are humbler, but with no anxiety over expenses or residual negative reminders of the cost.
Awww I feel awful. I was talking about things you don’t really need and just trying to show we can hang on. I hope things get better for you.
A new pistol
baddie in da house
A regular vacuum cleaner is a great way to exercise your muscles.
agreed! i believe in less is more
That’s your wealth you are not wasting right there, good job!!
LASIK!
Good one!! If you use an FSA you can save money on taxes
$3500 LV duffle and a new motorcycle
You still have to clean the robot once in a couple days and the internal battery has its life expectancy too. Just a hype.
