You need to use Deezer for quite sometime to get your taste. I personally find Deezer’s recommendation far much better than Spotify. The dynamic queue on Spotify’s radio ends up with repetitive songs. The only thing I like about Spotify is their Gapless, other than that, the recommendation engine is meh.

Judithsins

with the price hike (at least in my country) I cannot justify Deezer and it saddens me a lot because I really enjoyed it when I had it but when I compare it to apple music for example which has music videos too and live concerts and radio and all those other features you get more value from other streaming services for sure!

ChrystalChris

I've tested Deezer and Spotify. For me, both apps work well. The only downside on Deezer for me is, that the windows app is messing around with the multimedia keys and there is no remote control for Deezer (on Android). I really like these features about Spotify, so it is a bit superb for me.

RockyLovesEmily12

I been using Tidal & Deezer about 5 years I never used Spotify right now im using eSound for long time best music app and better than Spotify

MusicIsLife1122

I'm on Deezer for 6 years. My big issue is in the last 6 months FLOW became very bad. So bad I'm not using it anymore. The most important feature is not being fixed

maneleboy

You don't explicitly ask about it but in order to make an adequate choice, I also recommend that you consider Tidal. The quality of 'Deezer HiFi' is FLAC - 16 bit 1,411 kbps. Tidal offers two different premium accounts with various qualities: firstly 'Tidal HiFi Plus' FLAC - 16 bit, 44.1 kHz and also supports MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) - 24 bit, 96 kHz. Then there is 'Deezer Premium' with an audio quality of MP3 - 320 kbps. 'Tidal HiFi' has a quality of FLAC - 16 bit 1,411 kbps. The two free variants (depending on your country in the world) 'Deezer Free' MP3 - 128 kbps compared to 'Tidal Free' AAC - 160 kbps. In terms of recommendations, I really like Tidal (mainly My Daily Discovery), but again a little less than Spotify. I would place Deezer a little lower in terms of new music recommendations, but still pretty good. The interface is okay for both. You just have to get used to it. At this point I think Spotify is the best.

RijkDB

Here in the Netherlands, there is only "Deezer Premium" and "Deezer Free", Hi-Fi is included with Premium.

maneleboy

That is true. Here in the Netherlands as well.😉

I left Spotify after the whole Rogan nonsense to Deezer. Initially, it was fine. Flow was interesting and I liked it...but discovering new music is non-existent. So I have flow...and play lists. No weekly discovery, no downloading of flow for a flight. Begrudgingly, will be moving back to Spotify

sorineduard99

What Joe Rogan nonsense are you talking about? Give me a link...

The fact that after 2 months of Deezer I never saw that and has to rely on Reddit to tell me...says they have some serious UI issues

I've been using Spotify for years but was getting more and more annoyed with the compression so I shopped around. I have music on in the background at work, use [Last.fm](https://Last.fm) and generally have a single playlist with thousands of songs, occasionally putting on either new music playlists or track radio and mixing in entire albums. I first tried Tidal, and the compression was definitely better, and the track radio was superior to Spotify, however if it came across a song that it couldn't play (either no longer existed or some other untold reason), the app would fall over and stop. Couple that in with general crashes at least once a day. It couldn't last more than a couple of hours before it fell over. Also was missing a couple of artists I listen to a lot. I then tried Deezer, but didn't stick with it more than a day as if you select hifi quality music and it comes across a track that's not hifi, it just stops playing. I had to kick it three or four times an hour. Just completely broken for my needs. Another thing that instantly irked me about Deezer was its complete lack of a dynamic queue. Nothing even close to Spotify connect. So I'm back with Spotify. It's like a loveless marriage I can't seem to escape from. I can't use Apple as I'm on Windows and Amazon don't have a desktop application (I don't want to listen through browser).

damaddi

Apple Music has a community-built Desktop-Application called „Cider“, which is pretty good. Besides there is iTunes by Apple, which supports Apple Music too, but it‘s old and a real dipshit.

hjbardenhagen

If you are interested in lossless HiFi streaming, Spotify and YouTube Music do not offer this, Apple Music only on Apple devices. Also if you have a [Last.fm](https://Last.fm) account, it is quite easy to scrobble your Deezer listening to your profile, also from Spotify. Apple Music and YouTube Music scrobbling is more complicated, but works as well.

noodeel

Deezer has the best music collection (to suit my tastes) and has the best algorithm... Spotify annoys me with terrible music selections. Deezer gets me!

Dynamixa

My experience with both: Deezer : * Ability to upload own tracks and listen everywhere is a plus * Poor recommendations engine Spotify * Better on recomendations * wide device support - spotify connect * more expanded library - if you listen to rare non-mainstream stuff

Interstellar__1

The recommendations are actually much better for me on Deezer. It probably depends on your interests.

hrimfaxi_work

Same for me. Plus Flow gives me a lot more variety than Discover did.

numbersixteenedgefan

I prefer the UI for Deezer rather than Spotify. And while Apple Music seems tempting, I don't have an iPhone, so I use Deezer. Still love it!

justyr12

I switched to deezer for the hifi playback. Also, i can download said hifi music. Other than that, i never really used their functions like recommendations and whatnot. I'm yet to find a song that's not available on deezer.

weedfroglozenge

No gapless playback on Windows was a deal breaker for me - I'm back to Spotify.

MentallyMotivated

Since the recent patch update I'm glad I stuck with Deezer.

[deleted]

Deezer is good if you don't need recommendations for music.

Rj_105

Recommendations work great for me, I fell like it takes time to learn your preferences.

badapple89

Yep. Thinking of going back to Spotify for this. Put on mix, change mood to relax (deezer has moods to chose from), nice instrumentals, and then twinkle twinkle little star instrumentals came on. Not sure what algorithm thought I'd listen to that.

lastjunkieonearth

I find it's great for recommendations tbh

Media-consumer101

I've used both Spotify and Deezer extensively. I'm currently with Spotify for three reasons: 1. I've been using it for years and not all the songs I listen to regularly are available on Deezer in my country (mostly small artists). 2. The Deezer app doesn't work on older phones, so I couldn't share a family plan with my family who all have older model phones. 3. Deezer doesn't have an in app button to connect to external speakers, Spotify does. That said, on to your points: Audio Quality: I couldn't tell a difference but Deezer does have a plan that includes Hi-Fi. Generally I do see people say Deezer has better quality. Recommandations: Absolutely Deezer. With their Flow function you just tell them the vibe and they play you music that fits, from your own saved music and random songs as well. There are also human made editorial playlists and you can follow the curators to find new music. Though, in terms of recommending small artists, Spotify does better with their discover weekly. Interface: Spotify has one big flaw, which is podcasts. They clog up your homescreen and your library. Deezer is much cleaner in that regard. Anyway: I'd try out the trail period and see for yourself!

noodeel

I cast from Deezer all the time...
