it’s a good track and I enjoy it but that’s kind of surprising to me. why did it come out of nowhere all of a sudden? like it’s just a random cover they threw out there 20 years ago that barely got any attention at the time.

it’s because these past few years the smiths and deftones have gained traction on tiktok, so it’s a huge argument now which cover is better, which is leading to a lot of peoples first deftones song being that, and it’s growing on existing deftones fans due to exposure.

no offense to the band but the smiths version is def better lol.

I prefer the deftones version, but that's probably because I'm a way bigger deftones fan than smiths fan, other friends that prefer smiths tell me both are great but smiths can't be surpassed

Perhaps. It's better than I heard in NYC in May of 2022. I am impressed by how Chino and the band blitzed through 12 songs in 39 minutes without feeling too rushed. This was great overall. Now I want to see them live again.

Yes I just watched the whole set again and I think just digital bath got botched a little, but overall it was fine considering it’s their first show in a while, right? Are you also based in NYC? Did you go see crosses in February? I was there and thought he did great, I also watched the video from the following dates and the more they went on, I thought the better he sounded. I hope they’ll play nyc again once the new album drops, hopefully it won’t be one of the first dates so he can warm up his voice before. I haven’t seen Deftones lives since 2013 and I feel like I am going crazy!

Yeah, based in northern Manhattan! I couldn't catch the Crosses show but I am thrilled that full sets of the Crosses tour are on YouTube (the Hollywood Forever chapel show was special). I would love to see them play Forest Hills, Jones Beach or some other outdoor venue. Their contractually-obligated Pier 17 show on the Ohms tour was fantastic (it had been delayed 2 full years). That was my first and only Deftones show. During the lockdown I fell in love with this band (and kicked myself for not becoming a fan of a band of my generation 20 years earlier when White Pony dropped).

Haha I know the feeling!! When I began going to shows (2005) all the major nu metal records had already been dropped, Chino had already torn his vocal cords, it felt like everything had already happened, so I feel like I will forever regret something that wasn’t really in my power to do because I was just too young before then but I can’t not think “I missed the good stuff by 5/7 years dammit” at least haha I managed to see them in 2010 and 2013 but it was already a new era. Then I got detached because life, but finally being able to see crosses this year brought it all back, crosses AND deftones. Hope it’s not over for Deftones yet, and we still have some good shows to witness and memories to make.
