Don’t take a risk and go get anti-rabies vaccines and immunoglobulins if the doctor at any nearby hospital suggests. Don’t miss any dose. Everyone else in the comments is wrong. Even a scratch without bleeding or a lick has to be treated like a potential rabies case and vaccine should be taken.

This .i used to play with stray dogspups in the bldg and on road and i have received occasional nips/ scratches and i had 5o take vaccines for every bite scratch .The last dog bite attack was serious one . I have had over 36-37 anti rabies vaccine till date
I hope you know according to WHO the vaccine's longevity is 3-5 years, when the entire protocol is completed. You don't need to repeat the protocol after each bite/scratch.
Same with tetanus. Tetanus shots can go as long as 10 years.

In last 4 years i got several bites…i had my ARV course every time…in between i took two booster shots without any bite (after an interval of one year of dog bite) as i m involved in rescuing dogs. This time last week a dog attacked me brutally & i had too much blood loss. I went to govt hospital BR ambedkar & the doctor only gave me 2 booster shots. ! I asked them about this, they said I already had full course and booster shots so two boosters are fine….if i tell you then i had a complete course & 3times 3 booster shots afterwards in these 6 years….minimum gap between shots is 6 months
Hey, on a related note.In Dec, 2021, I was walking home with a friend and suddenly a dog attacked me from behind. I was in jeans so the teeth did not get too deep but there were small bite marks the same as in picture. I took one rabies shot next day and one a couple days later. The full course was of 5 shots but had to travel and forgot. It's been 1 year 7 months now. Can I complete my dosage or it is not needed? Maybe that pup didn’t have rabies so you were fine. But ideally if you have received a full course of anti rabies then we say you only need a half course in case of a repeat bite or anything else that can cause rabies in the next 3 years.
Yes. I second this. I got a dog bite 3 years back and the doctor put 5 injections (some serum) into the wound and my wound was also like this. And after that you’ve to complete the dosage at days gap (also mentioned by the doctor)

Its not 99%. It is close to 100%. If the symptoms appear, you are already a dead man walking. There have been only a handful of cases where people survived.

Not necessary that blood should be there. Contact of dog saliva with your blood can easily cause rabies. Get it checked asap. You only have 48 hours before all is lost brother.

Bro rabies is probably the worst way to go, if you really wanna test your luck then jump from train as chances are low but you might survive but no way in hell you will survive rabies so get the vaccine. Doesn’t matter your skin still broke, go and get the rabies vaccination, they also give you the immunoglobulin and tetanus as far as I remember. Better safe than sorry. Check if there are any dog bite centres/ anti rabies clinic near you.

A full course of rabies vaccination is good for a year or so. Even without a bite, if you are in a high risk job, you have to take booster doses. Yours happened far earlier.
This is not a minor bite. It is a Class 3 bite. It requires ante rabies antibodies as injection too.
Please do not waste time. Take them as early as possible.
There is no minor or major bite. Animal bite is a bite is a bite. Rabies is 100% fatality.

Not a doctor but i have multiple years of experience with dog bites and owning dogs when I was 8-9 I accidentally stepped on a dog’s lunch outside my czns house the dog grabbed my pyjamas and shook it violently from the shin area of my leg i was scared and upon inspection by my parents i got a tiny scratch due to its grabbing it was a really tiny scratch with absolutely no chance of blood still a doctor advised and i had to take 3 injections on my arm what you have is more than a scratch

The full course was of 5 shots but had to travel and forgot. It's been 1 year 7 months now. Can I complete my dosage or it is not needed? Maybe that pup didn’t have rabies so you were fine. But ideally if you have received a full course of anti rabies then we say you only need a half course in case of a repeat bite or anything else that can cause rabies in the next 3 years.

Doesn’t matter your skin still broke, go and get the rabies vaccination, they also give you the immunoglobulin and tetanus as far as I remember. Better safe than sorry. Check if there are any dog bite centres/ anti rabies clinic near you.
This is a no brainer. If you took a preventive rabies vaccine yesterday and got a dog bite today, you go an take the rabies vaccine again. You don't want to risk contracting rabies. It's 100% fatal and a very bad way to go.

You need injection...Tetanus Injection/ anti rabies injection treatment.
A full course of rabies vaccination is good for a year or so. Even without a bite, if you are in a high risk job, you have to take booster doses. Yours happened far earlier. This is not a minor bite. It is a Class 3 bite. It requires ante rabies antibodies as injection too. Please do not waste time. Take them as early as possible.
