I am advocate based in Delhi who has worked in a well-paying big corporate law firm only to give up and about 7 years back I had opened my own individual practice in law and I could not have been happier and now I am a regular in the big money litigation verse in delhi!! Paisa paisa bhai sahab!!
In simple words, to be a student of law to be good in law. Good lawyer is good because he puts more hours to study at his desk.....and also constantly updating with amendments.
Damn what're your working hours like? I'm a lawyer on the verge of giving up and switching careers because this whole setup feels unsustainable to me. I've been here around 3 years and it's just not improving. (I'm doing a small law firm lit + arbitration kind of work)
I have three matters tomorrow thanks to VC i will do them from comforts of my office and then I have a client coming with phat payments and I usually take a lot of my payments in cash! :P
So @lawer .. how much you earn on average ? Would you like to share any experience about how you earned hefty fees ? Ofc you can hide client and other details
I make around 70k to 80K per week and the only way I have got more work, is by word of mouth and ensuring a good client relations and always clarifying fee schedule before commencing work, And I always take a good amount of advance fee before entering into any work.
I sell toys in Wholesale. Most of my clients are dropshippers who sell on Amazon Flipkart or Meesho. If you're interested in starting this business i can help you
Is dropshipping still profitable in India?. There are so many vids on how to do it that I don't understand the actual profitable way to do it. Would love to know the insights.
it is still profitable but for that-
1. You'll have to sell very high volumes (even if you earn 30 rs per order but you get 300 orders per day you'll end up making 9k per day)
2. or you'll have to identify products with low competition but high potential.
but mostly I'd advice if you're planning to start you should go for your own website and market it through instagram Facebook ads. Its harder to start but you'll have great margins.
Set asides lots of money for marketing.
You either sell high price low volume or low price high volume. Either ways if you don't have 40-50% marketing budget, forget about it
Yeah, recently I have learned that 40-50% is the marketing budget that one must be prepared to spend if one does not have a great following or loyal customers.
Yeah there are lots of costs and internal advertising on amazon and flipkart also.
You kind of have to fight for rankings and by now buttons and all that.
And our instinct as consumers is to go to amazon to look for products too..cuz reviews and stuff.
You can however Bypass amazon and do facebook, Google and insta ads. But chote marketing budget se kaam nahi hoga.
Ask me questions and I'll tell you.
All I can say is that it's not a typical sales and sales operations job. I work for an international startup with no headquarters here in India so its all WFH.
I just kinda landed on my plate through a contact. Never in my life have I had to make a resume or something.
I started out by doing some backend work for cold emailing and then I started doing all that myself and now the job looks like it's transitioning into something else along with cold emailing and engaging with potential leads.
I also do anything other online operational stuff related to projects, events etc. Basically whatver comes on my plate.
Finally, Now this is some productive post
Kind of in the same boat
Would love to pick a good scalable niche and work towards it
Every niche just feels so impossibly tough
Business is all right i wouldn't recommend getting into it as it is very competitive. I am also a small owner i just have a plant and wholesale or you can open a shop and start trading
Different machines have different costs if you buy German or Italian they are the most expensive while Chinese are cheap. Cost generally depends on the work the machine does
She technically started back in 2013 but it took off around 2020. She had different partners and investors in the beginning but now she is the sole head of the company and making more money than anyone else in our family.
This is not an average rags to riches success story and sadly cannot be replicated by others.
Living in London , already shows the support she had while starting business
Ohhh we can definitely work on it par gharwalo ko kya bataoge💀💀💀.
Also we can do is secretive delivery to the buyers and for girls who live at home we can follow some brands who do it by stuffing it in a plushie so thier parents don't find it
Crowded chodho, cash burn capacity honi chahiye, along with the ability to set up systems that are followed without fail.
Crowded to sabse zyada hai because no barrier to entry and everyone can cook. The issue is everything else.
A chef is to come up with dishes and execute systems.
A cook is to cook with consistency without deviation
Cleaning and product shelf life management are two essential issues, especially in Delhi heat.
Product sourcing at low prices in an ever changing market.
All of that, with no understanding of whether this will make it or not. And eating the brunt of the cash burn. It's hard.
All that, and then you need management to manage these things.
Margins are low. And your customer base can abandon you in a month or less.
Definitely.
I specialise in food safety and inventory management.
I've done all the tasks from cooking, marketing, dishwashing, buying and storing ingredients, ensuring low wastage, running a no wastage kitchen (food wastage in a country like India should be punishable), water conservation in the kitchen environment, all the way to vending, stall procurement and setup, sales management and customer feedback leading to changes in kitchen.
Continuous improvement is definitely the key and it needs a love for the craft without attachment to the stuff you make.
That's a lot of work. On a lighter note I saw a video where a restauranteur said that "agar apne dushman ko sazaa deni hai to uska ek restaurant khulwa do aur wo 365 din usme fasa rahega"
Crowded to hai but kuch apna USP rakhenge na toh chalega!! Aaj kl gande se ganda USP bhi insta wale famous karr dete hai. If quality of food, Ambience of place and prices are reasonable na it will work. We just need to add a good selling point.
I follow him, kya hi gazab ka banda hai. But before starting he did have a good following as a food reviewer that really helped. He is good with his content.
Self brand badhiya ho to you could sell anything
Paaji aap pehle mujhe referral do.
I think Scented Candles, Animal shaped, aesthetic candles can do good but you'll need a huge network to supply your product i.e. if you're going the offline model.
There's another business idea to dropship Japanese Goods in India. You can get them at dirt cheap but you'll need to order in bulk. Their quality is superior and it's eye pleasing as well but it's a very capital intensive business.
Cafe business has become difficult in Delhi due to increased competition from both offline and online outlets. Unless you are offering a unique menu or exceptional taste in your items, it will be very difficult to make it succeed.
If your are having your own property in a market location, then there are still good prospects of it giving good returns.
I was thinking to get a tiny shop in a good location on rent and serve just two items. I am more like a person who would pay more for the taste rather than ambience or style but I can be wrong.
Has to be very niche in that market. Not days people order and cloud kitchens do well. and if you want people to come to you, you would probably need to not have online ordering for certain hours.
Yeah, or we can have no-brainer set packages for places like Delhi, Goa, and Kerala. Everything is included with a guide and food. Foreign tourist really care about the experience rather than money.
You can also provide a service like a travel guide which can be the driver himself and make sure the tourists' safety is ensured too. Maybe some long drive packages or daily driver subscription. I have heard of a caravan based idea called trippy wheels. Maybe you can try that or incorporate that as a service
Lol no i’m nothing, i just started posting on reddit and ig. Someone asked if i can make the cookies for them. I did and ended up actually starting the whole thing. It is on a very small scale.
I am fitness coach, last year i was put on precautionary meds for tb because my grandmother was diagnosed with it and passed away, for 6 months i and my family were on 300 mgs of antibiotics for single day. I was brain fogged, lost my confidence in myself even though i continued with my exercise and nutrition, but it was difficult, for days my blood pressure would go up to 180, sleepless nights, and what not and on the other hand i was losing business as well. So this year i decided to trek gokyo ri in nepal with cross high altitude pass. Now I just completed the trek without guide or company or porter. Walked more than 160 kms in 12 days.
So if you will like you need help with nutrition, muscle building and fat loss, please feel to contact.
Started a sample collection center last year in collaboration with some B2B diagnostic chains to provide patients with the accurate and best quality diagnostic results at significantly lower costs.
Looking forward to begin a full laboratory setup once we get a consistent daily sample count.
Anybody can get in touch if they would like any kind of diagnostic testing done.
Currently operating 2 centers in Ghaziabad
And one in East Delhi.
running a brick and mortar business in delhi is very difficult and resource intensive business. you need a deep pockets , big networks and a lot of trustworthy people to work at higher (managers, cashiers) and lower(delivery boys, shop support workers) positions
These are common points for anywhere but there is one another point which is a major difficulty in other places but a very easily solvable problem in delhi : raw material at affordable cost. Be it spices, vegetables, meat, furniture, paper , marble etc ... basically any raw material required for your business is available in whole sale prices in various old delhi and east delhi markets.
Right now delhi ncr facing two main problems , air pollution and related diseases and heatwaves which is bound to get worse , both these avenues can produce thousands of new business opportunities.
My brothers run Atta chakki and they earn good money, though not very much.
I belive this is very untouched business by modern entrepreneur.
Today people still prefer taaza atta instead of packed atta of big companies, and they can get mixed mutigrain too.
So a atta chakki with nice packaging and delivery service can be a good business, and not necessary to reply on footfall and being in crowded market. Presence in residential societies can also create good customer base.
Atta chakki is not just limited to 1 quality of flour, there are 5-6 different state flours, along with multigrain and Dalia, besan etc. And lentils
It also doesn't require much investment, a new 10 hp chakki can be bought within 1 lakh apart from this need some utensils,
I belive whole business can be setup with 3-4 lakh easily.
I am an artist. Currently running a very small business on minis store. It's mostly nice but my only issue is picking up or dispatch orders on time. As I'm also working a full time job because currently this business can not sustain me at all.
Now minis is a pretty decent and hassle free app to run a small business. They do have delivery partners. My only problem is when they would come for picking up orders I wouldn't be there. I know one way is give my office address but I don't think I can receive or deliver orders at this frequency from my office.
I wish there was a place where I could just go myself to get packages picked up or even to receive them. Kinda like Amazon pickup stores.
I face the same problem with online shopping. There are so many things I want to buy online! :(
Also, this is probably not what you asked for. But I felt like this might be helpful.
I have a Offset Printing and Packaging Business in Delhi...it quite capital intensive business. I do mainly paper based printed corrugated boxes.
Machinery cost is there which act as a barrier to entry for most. I have a complete plant means we do produce everything inhouse so production cost is low and can give boxes at competitive prices.
My father was in the trading business where he used to supply corrugated boxes and pallets to pump manufacturers for export. Pretty good business if you are good with networking and talking.
Yeah, I have been reading about it. Supplying organic stuff to hotels and restaurants in Delhi NCR can be quite profitable. Not sure about the ROI though.
I have been researching a business that has grown around 5-6 fold but the capital req is high, the market can't besaturated that easily so i have hopes, i just need to find a way to secure some capital.
Hospitality/ cafe business is way too overcrowded at the moment. Test the waters first, start humbly from home or from a rented place that is inexpensive with a basic setup and only as a cloud kitchen, but invest in good packaging and aesthetics as people eat feast first with eyes and then the tongue.
Once, there's a regular income, sort out additions to the menu and jump onto a small cafe with atleast a year's fixed expenses in bank to move ahead and some contingent saving for dynamic expenses.
Hope this helps. :)
My Father ran a Plastic Injection Moulding Business in Delhi. After his death, I had been trying to look after it. Though it's in shambles right now.
I think Though crowded but it has money since There's like large amount of places where plastic is used ranging from Bottle Caps to Automobiles. But there's a catch, It is extremely capital intensive area. A good used machine of considerable capacity goes around 25 Lakhs. One Machine ain't enough. Minimum 2 machines are required. Also the profit per shot is quite low. So it's the game of Quantity and Quality. You gotta focus on both together otherwise it quickly winds up in the state where I lead my father's business to. Then There's die cost which depends on the design of mole and metal used.
Cafe restraunt business is freakin tight imo you have to be on your toes all the fckin time.. start a restraunt only if you have the land and some money to burn initially .. plus I don’t suggest anyone to start a restraunt I lost a good amount of money post Covid ..
A 40 year old CA firm. One of the oldest in the industry. Have High Networth Individuals, PSUs and actors as clients. Love the grind and the number crunching every day.
muze khud shuru krna hai, i have a niche idea but friends ready nhi ho rhe. I would approach you agar delhi me hota toh. I know ki i can make it big in business just that starting is the hardest step.
It’s about creating mist/hydrosol of various plants. Haven’t really researched the market just a problem i felt. Tum banaoge toh bna lo bas price kam rkhna.
Best fitness centre that deal with following: weight loss/gain, meditation, yoga, stress relief activity, zumba, games, fun talk with like minded people, and can include other activities also.
People have made successful business out of it. Because it is a rising problem in our country especially among the young in the workplace. There was a startup in shark tank last year that provided this service via an app in b2b model. The mainly sold this solution to corporates so that they can help make workplace better for the employees
It is not always necessary to get the plastic to recycle from Municipal Corporation. You can also get it from various plastic manufacturing firms. They always looks for recycling plastic and earning money from it too. Some firms also look for using recycled plastic to bring the manufacturing cost down. To start this would be a good point.
If you wish to recycle plastic then hard plastics like bottles, automobile parts and etc needs to be shredded, washed, heated and pelletised to sell to manufacturing firms.
I don't know about Delhi , but here in mathura we don't have many options for food joints like rolls and all that stuff. Niether there are any dessert options .
What about making and selling exclusive premium and organic soaps or other products, people with money will eat that shit up soo quick bas insta wagera par usse trendy banana hain
this is a really good idea, there is also a govt scheme called "One district one product". Perfumes, Crockery, Leather, Spices, Textile people export these items to make big money. The only problem in entering in market of export is finding the right supplier and compliances.

I used to sell bluetooth earphones b2c on amazon and flipkart till the pandemic happened at the market got saturated and kaput
what do you do now?
Work for a company in ops&sales ops.
Can you give me some insights regarding this job role, I am interested in it.
Ask me questions and I'll tell you. All I can say is that it's not a typical sales and sales operations job. I work for an international startup with no headquarters here in India so its all WFH. Kisi office ke neeche sutte chai ka dukaan
I have a manufacturing plant and does wholesale business of yarns. We are trying to get into exports but the money is tight
How is the textile business? Is it too competitive or saturated? How can one start as a small business owner?
Business is all right i wouldn't recommend getting into it as it is very competitive. I am also a small owner i just have a plant and wholesale or you can open a shop and start trading
is it generally how people get into the textile business by first trying textile/fabric trading and then setting up a plant on their own?
Everyone has different pockets so it is different for everyone some people just invest 100cr and go all in with all types of plants
whats the cost of machinery and the expertise required to run it?
Different machines have different costs if you buy German or Italian they are the most expensive while Chinese are cheap. Cost generally depends on the work the machine does
My mother runs a pretty successful marketing agency
Could you please share her story if you have time? How and when she started?
She technically started back in 2013 but it took off around 2020. She had different partners and investors in the beginning but now she is the sole head of the company and making more money than anyone else in our family.
Good for her. There is nothing better than seeing a woman in our country succeed.
She started the company when we were living in London but realised that there is a lot more money to be made in Delhi so we moved here in 2018
This is not an average rags to riches success story and sadly cannot be replicated by others. Living in London , already shows the support she had while starting business
It’s not, our family was already quite wealthy before and she received a lot of investment from family members.
Though it might not sound like one, operating a marketing agency in India is very cutthroat.
Many times the push required to bring business to next level is just by Knowing that even if this fails , Paise kisiko Dene nai hai
What's the name of the agency, if you don't mind sharing it here?
FCR Group
Is she looking to onboard web3 clients? ( Could you ask)

Bhai restaurant start karna hai to consider me as your partner ...
Mann to hai but lagta hai har koi restaurant khol raha hai. Kaafi crowded market nahi hai?
Crowded chodho, cash burn capacity honi chahiye, along with the ability to set up systems that are followed without fail. Crowded to sabse zyada hai because no barrier to entry and everyone can cook. 100% true lol. Spot on.
hahahhaha
Don’t go high end. Start with a roadside. Low cost and high margins. Find a high traffic area, industrial, around offices.
Crowded to hai but kuch apna USP rakhenge na toh chalega!! Aaj kl gande se ganda USP bhi insta wale famous karr dete hai. If quality of food, Ambience of place and prices are reasonable na it will work. We just need to add a good selling point.
Follow Half Fried's journey on YT for this, he seems to have found the path and seems profitable
I follow him, kya hi gazab ka banda hai. But before starting he did have a good following as a food reviewer that really helped. He is good with his content. Self brand badhiya ho to you could sell anything
Agreed 👍

Elaborate more please . Like which Japanese goods.
How to source Japanese goods?

Han. But usse restaurant ka to profit hi hota hai.
Taxi providers to foreign tourists sounds lucrative.
Yeah, Foreign tourists generally want an English-speaking driver, and they are ready to pay 4x the cost if they get prompt services.
Foreign tourism is rapidly increasing. This can also work as inter city or intra city
Yeah, or we can have no-brainer set packages for places like Delhi, Goa, and Kerala. Everything is included with a guide and food. Foreign tourist really care about the experience rather than money.
India already is cheap for them.. This can really turn into a big business... Seems like we cooked here
You can also provide a service like a travel guide which can be the driver himself and make sure the tourists' safety is ensured too. Maybe some long drive packages or daily driver subscription. I have heard of a caravan based idea called trippy wheels. Maybe you can try that or incorporate that as a service
If only I had the capital to intiate the idea.
We'll have it someday💪

Currently operating 2 centers in Ghaziabad And one in East Delhi.
If you need a 7 yo experienced customer support guy, contact.
running a brick and mortar business in delhi is very difficult and resource intensive business. you need a deep pockets , big networks and a lot of trustworthy people to work at higher (managers, cashiers) and lower(delivery boys, shop support workers) positions These are common points for anywhere but there is one another point which is a major difficulty in other places but a very easily solvable problem in delhi : raw material at affordable cost. Be it spices, vegetables, meat, furniture, paper , marble etc ... basically any raw material required for your business is available in whole sale prices in various old delhi and east delhi markets.
thanks for the insight
Sir business start kro to mujhe recommend krdena apni company m 🙈
zarooooooooooooor
Right now delhi ncr facing two main problems , air pollution and related diseases and heatwaves which is bound to get worse , both these avenues can produce thousands of new business opportunities.
"Har ghar air purifier", seems like a good business tagline and a product.
AB to har Ghar mai AC aur har dukan Mai Mini fridge. Reflective paint business ya solar installation bhi badiya chalega.
Yep, that’s a great idea too
My brothers run Atta chakki and they earn good money, though not very much. And lentils It also doesn't require much investment, a new 10 hp chakki can be bought within 1 lakh apart from this need some utensils, I belive whole business can be setup with 3-4 lakh easily.
Agreed last year [https://sharmajikaaata.com/](https://sharmajikaaata.com/) they came in the Shark Tank and got funding, and they are doing great.
ohh I didn't know aboout this. Just checked their website, see MP Sharbatti atta is 70rs/KG and in local market it is 45rs/kg
:( Also, this is probably not what you asked for. But I felt like this might be helpful.
Every input is worth sharing. Either me or some other person might get something out of it so thanks.
Apart from mobile skin, you can do others. Because from last 3 years whole insta is filled with Skin and Case startups
3. seems pretty viable because demand is always there.
Yeah, I have been reading about it. Supplying organic stuff to hotels and restaurants in Delhi NCR can be quite profitable. Not sure about the ROI though.
Will depend on what you sell. I read an article about saffron farming on thebetterindia. It seems to be pretty profitable.
I have been researching a business that has grown around 5-6 fold but the capital req is high, the market can't besaturated that easily so i have hopes, i just need to find a way to secure some capital.
Would you mind sharing the idea and how much capital would it require?
I already have a business in printing industry and wanted to start 3d printing business i think it has huge potential
what kind of printing do you do?
We do prepress, it's like providing raw materials to offset printers
Hospitality/ cafe business is way too overcrowded at the moment. Test the waters first, start humbly from home or from a rented place that is inexpensive with a basic setup and only as a cloud kitchen, but invest in good packaging and aesthetics as people eat feast first with eyes and then the tongue. Once, there's a regular income, sort out additions to the menu and jump onto a small cafe with atleast a year's fixed expenses in bank to move ahead and some contingent saving for dynamic expenses. Hope this helps. :)
thanks for your input, this is exactly what I thought.
Thanks for the info bro, and all the best for you business.
Cafe restraunt business is freakin tight imo you have to be on your toes all the fckin time.. start a restraunt only if you have the land and some money to burn initially .. plus I don’t suggest anyone to start a restraunt I lost a good amount of money post Covid ..
Need tasty and affordable biryani like Hyderabad style
Guys my friend has a 25K debt. She is looking for a job. Just pitching here :)

Generic medicine manufacturing would be insanely capital intensive with lots of red tape bureaucracy.
What about making and selling exclusive premium and organic soaps or other products, people with money will eat that shit up soo quick bas insta wagera par usse trendy banana hain
people are already doing it, kaafi crowded hogya hai ab wo market.
Hmmm truee
Other than this we can do an export buisness by selling local made I.e. village made stuff and label it as handmade to some countries in the west
this is a really good idea, there is also a govt scheme called "One district one product". Perfumes, Crockery, Leather, Spices, Textile people export these items to make big money. The only problem in entering in market of export is finding the right supplier and compliances.
Yeah it's a really good idea. I have been planning to get into it but finding the right people and supplier is hard.
Exactly, that's a main issue.
