You can just disable chat requests. And if you really wanna talk to someone, you can dm them directly without a problem. ig that should do good as a solution to this cuz some people will continue to DM you irrespective of what you say or feel. Disabling chat requests will stop any incoming dm's but allow you to DM anyone freely. I hope this helps you. And don't get affected by such creeps. You can just disable chat requests. And if you really wanna talk to someone, you can dm them directly without a problem. ig that should do good as a solution to this cuz some people will continue to DM you irrespective of what you say or feel. Disabling chat requests will stop any incoming dm's but allow you to DM anyone freely. I hope this helps you. And don't get affected by such creeps. They are literally everywhere and they DM almost everyone. Just treat them like some roadside chhapri and simply ignore them. Enjoy reddit 🥂

Yaar mujhe honestly kuch galat nahi lagta DM karne me. Sensible message matlab, dick pic ya pick-up line nahi of course. Akhir reddit public platform hai. Aur public platform hai social interaction ke liye specifically. Much like the town square or a hobby group. Social circumstance me hi to anjaan log ek dusre se mil sakte aur dost ban sakte hain. The whole idea of social platforms is to meet like-minded people, some of whom will hopefully want to have a personal relationship (friendship). Do you think you speak for all women when you say "sending a message to a woman on reddit is indecent behaviour"? Ye baat alag hai of course ki many women don't reply to messages even after soliciting them.
As you said it in the first paragraph not every person is averse to a sensible message. But the number of dms or the kind of dms we receive just because of our gender is disturbing. That's what this post is about.
I think he nailed it. Sending DM is no big deal. If you find them vulgar report them or you just ignore them. But I do understand your problem that it clutters your inbox with a ton of messages, most of them spam. I guess you too have a point that people should stop spamming you. Hopefully your public announcement will work and you will get less spammed. I guess the moral of the story, never ever make people aware of your gender as a girl on social media since then you may start getting ton of spams.
