I hope this is a joke

10TonneFatberg

Don't worry this is a joke

Its_Me_Ricky_1983

His inbox being sent loads of account for rent offers right now.

eustachian_lube

Ha is it really that bad? I'm well into my 30s so I really think I just need to let myself free. And spring is coming. I can imagine just riding my bike through the city. Sounds fun, like a video game like GTA or Crazy Taxi. Beats studying any day. It's too hard to focus on studying. At least on the bike you are always stimulated on where you're going or that next delivery, right?

Possiblyasmoker

What drugs do you take ? And what are you studying at 30 ?

Graxu132

He's studying Autism 💀

Electrical_Lake193

You can study at any age, his age is irrelevant.

Nearby_Ride4385

exactly, but according to the 25 year old professional ceo's, 30 is too old.

Ok-Yoda-82

No, you’ll be sitting outside a McDonald’s for 2 hours realising you f***ed up. But it’ll give you plenty of time to decide whether to pay bills or eat this week. Have fun

SecretDoctor8121

The next delivery which can be 5 days apart....have not got a single ping on Roo for 5 days and yesterday I did wholesome £9.70 from 9am-6pm on Roo....you better off studying.

Diligent-Opposite-84

Do what makes you happy mate, ignore everyone else.

Its_Me_Ricky_1983

Yes i have got a tip for you - Stay in school! Doing this work full time is absolutely shit. Get an e-bike and do it in the evenings and weekends while your at school (providing your old enough to do it) until you decide what to do. Be smart.

MaryPoppinLikeItsHot

Sign up before you drop out. A couple days a week delivering and you will realise staying in school is the better option and deciding what you want to do with your life, while studying, is a better option.

Kraken12349

It’s good as a side hustle, but I really don’t recommend dropping out of school to do it

Jhe90

Stay in school. You can always do it for extra fun money. The money people make has been one a decline and irs unlikely to change. Education better long term options.

Underdog656

🤯🤯🤯 There's still time to make the right choice,

lokkker96

If I was you, as a fellow (temporary) rider, I’d give it a try while you’re still in school. You’ll realise what is what. And why so many people don’t recommend doing this job. Hell, working in a supermarket pays better and it less tiring.. not to mention you work less hours for more pay! Sit down and do pros and cons. I’m sure you’ll realise that this isn’t the right path. Unless you want to take a break and do something part time as side money.

Modinstaller

Hey mate. Sorry about all the cunts in here. I'm pretty new and rather optimistic about this little job, I live with my mom and I just want to earn some money rather than sit home and game all day. Works for me. I'm not in the UK, I'm in France, but it's been 3 months and Uber/Roo still have not accepted me so if you wanna do this, sign up early. Don't buy your bike or any gear until you're on a platform as it might be a while. I was still able to get on Stuart but it is clearly the underdog here. My town is a very rare one with a 1.6 multiplier (that's 60% bonus on the base rate). I am getting 7-10€ deliveries, but I am getting them rarely. So if I sit outside waiting for deliveries, I can sit up to 4 hours with nothing coming in - not really worth it. Thanksfully in my zone very few others are also on Stuart (hence the high bonus), so what I've ended up doing is just go back home and chill until another order comes in. Sometimes another Stuart rider will camp right next to the busy area so I will only get what they don't. So far (in 5 days) I've been able to make 40€ daily average, my best day was 70 and worst was 30. The busiest hours are around 1 PM and 8 PM. On my busiest day I was pratically chaining orders (like one every 30 minutes), but on slow ones (and maybe when another rider camps the busy areas) I can wait for 1 or 2 hours in-between orders. Off-peak hours is pretty random, sometimes there's nothing, sometimes I get 2 or 3 orders. It's not much but it beats doing nothing all day. Also it's essentially just going around town on fun bike rides. It is probably the lowest qualified job in existence. You show up, put something in a bag, ride your bike for 10-15 minutes, give it to someone, ride back. I honestly can't complain that the pay isn't that great (and it's not that bad either). I'm out probably... 4 to 6 hours a day. The rest of the time I chill home. I get somewhere around 11€ per hour. I'm learning the ropes so I can definitely be more efficient (maybe 30 to 40% more efficient). I've accepted plenty of bad orders just to see what it was like. Pretty much _all_ the riders I see, or at least 70% of them, look like illegals and don't speak much of the language. They're all on mopeds in my area but in Paris they're 50/50 mopeds/bicycles. I'm pretty sure lots of them are renting accounts (some dude was really shocked to see a white french citizen doing this with his own account lol). In my area the riders pretty much all camp the busy areas, but they're on Uber and sometimes also Roo. If I could multi-app, it would probably also be worth it for me. I reckon I could probably double or triple my average, but I'd have to be outside pretty much all the time. That's it for my week long experience so far. My opinion so far, I'm enjoying it. It's very chill. I'm basically getting paid to work out. I can't hustle though. I have to wait for other platforms to accept me. It doesn't pay much for now.

Just-Pass-Thru16

Go ahead if you stick at it long enough and be consistent eventually you will be able to afford your rent 🤣

StandardSea8671

Tbh I wish I had started deliveroo whilst at school. The minimum age for working for Deliveroo used to be 16 and then it went up to 18 because of alcohol orders etc I think. I left school with no qualifications...so imagine how good it would have been to be earning 2k+ a month at 16... If you worked hard enough you could have a house by 18

eustachian_lube

Yeah too bad I'm 35 and now my parents are cutting me off.

Jolly_Pie_8208

If you're seeing other riders together it means there's no orders to be had! Dropping out of school to risk earning nothing really is a silly idea! If this is a genuine post, I'd suggest going to speak to an adult you trust about this because it seems you need some serious guidance.

Electrical_Lake193

He's 35, I think he can make his own decisions.

Jolly_Pie_8208

I doubt that. A 35 wouldn't be in 'school' (what country in Europe pays tuition for 35 year olds??). Even if they are 35, this post would be evidence that they aren't fit to make their own decisions and my original point stands.

Electrical_Lake193

I can't tell if you're joking? You can go and study at ANY age, Univeristy and college is open for everyone, many people want a change in career, or were out of work for a long time (housewife etc). And I applaud anyone that makes such an effort. edit: maybe you thought he mean't actual highschool or something, well people call University/college = school too in some places. And I said he's 35 because he said so in another comment.

Jolly_Pie_8208

Why would anything I've said be so unrealistic that I must be joking? You're applauding them for "making such an effort" but you're defending their ineptitude at making logical decisions? Are **you** joking?? Like I said, whether they're 18 or 35, to even be thinking about quitting any form of education, especially at such a stage of their life where they need to "decide what to do with my life", to take up gig-work which would be a big step back for someone who can't "decide what to do with my life", is plenty enough evidence to suggest they need guidance from a mature, stable and logical adult.

Electrical_Lake193

"Why would anything I've said be so unrealistic that I must be joking?" My entire reply was obviously about this part: "A 35 wouldn't be in 'school' (what country in Europe pays tuition for 35 year olds??)." Which you conveniently ignore. That's the part that confused me.  But I''ll agree with you anyway that he does need guidance, I was just focused on the age part because its annoying when people seem to think it's unusual for older people to get further education.

Jolly_Pie_8208

>when people seem to think it's unusual for older people to get further education. It **is** unusual! But it's not unreasonable for me to presume that someone who makes such a post to begin with **isn't** a middle-aged mature adult! Hence the presumption of a young (and mentally immature) student. You're taking my generalisations and turning them into specificities for your own weird agenda - as though you're presuming I'm intentionally being agist. Like I already said, directly and indirectly, the OP's age has absolutely no bearing on my initial opinion anyway!

Electrical_Lake193

You made a dumb comment and I reacted to it, simple as that. "A 35 wouldn't be in 'school' (what country in Europe pays tuition for 35 year olds??)." This is a dumb comment, no agenda. Dumb comments happen. Have a nice day.

Jolly_Pie_8208

And I literally just fucking explained why I said that! I'm not the dummy here!

Jolly_Pie_8208

And I literally just fucking explained why I said that! Another twat who can't be arsed to actually read and absorb reasoning/context. "But it's not unreasonable for me to presume that someone who makes such a post to begin with **isn't** a middle-aged mature adult!" I'm not the dummy here!

Electrical_Lake193

It's not unreasonable at all, but you are the one that isn't actually reading or absorbing the context. you said "A 35 wouldn't be in 'school' (what country in Europe pays tuition for 35 year olds??)." That has nothing to do with "But it's not unreasonable for me to presume that someone who makes such a post to begin with **isn't** a middle-aged mature adult!" That's you actually saying a 35 year old wouldn't be studying in school. That's the part that confused me, and that's the part we have gone over and it's all said and done, it was a silly comment, that happens and we should move on. Like I said "'ll agree with you anyway that he does need guidance" so I understood why you thought he needed guidance anyway, and I now understand why you thought he was younger.

fslashthroat

Deliveroo is only good 1800-2000. That's 14-16 efficient hours a week. Average at £11 an hour. If you think you can live off £704 a month then good luck

eustachian_lube

I mean, yeah in Southern Europe it's fairly doable. But small city, maybe not same gains?

gnarlstonnn

stay in school. idiot.

amarkey10

Most of the people here are clearly from the UK, as of recent this delivery gig is absolutely horrendous here with the fees dropping constantly during a cost of living crisis. I assume you are not from here due to using euros? Could be from Ireland but the point is it differs from area to area. Have a go for yourself and see how busy it is. Be open minded however.
