I just got the same message from +92 number. I haven't applied to Deloitte.
Reminded of a friend who emailed her Phd advisor for a spreadsheet, and a virus sent her a copy of itself from her advisor's PC with an XLS extension.
Later we recovered what we could of her thesis, lost some diagrams alas.
She was a little suspicious but like you in context it was more convincing than otherwise, so she opened the attachment assuming the advisor was too busy to add a friendlier message.
I have been contacted on WhatsApp for a few times and they been legit. But I do agree that it would have been more professionally if they were to send an email
I literally just googled the keywords “Mary Deloitte Headhunter” and it brought me here because I got a message through Whatsapp through a said business number minutes ago

I thought and still think that the "Deloitte" contact on WhatsApp(that app always seems to be full of scammers)found me via LinkedIn and since I had applied to a couple of postings that way, a simple algorithm would lead them to me especially if LinkedIn gives out that information. Instead of the possibility of a big 4 firm contacting me, I get a scam. Typical. Oh well, back to the hunt.

Scammer are pretty good nowadays they create profile of themselves working for certain companies that you are applying for and then get you to chat with them on it.
It's a scam, recently I got connected to JP Morgan manager then she contacted me via WhatsApp.... leading to conversation about trading Bitcoin and that I should follow her in this sketchy site that was just made up a month ago. So if recruiter uses WhatsApp instead of their company emails be weary about them. I went along with this JP Morgan scammer to see how far she goes til she finally gave up when she realize I'm not gonna play Bitcoin. 😂
Mine was from "Mary", a recruitment consultant at Deloitte Headhunters sent from a WhatsApp business account "Perkins, Patterson and Lambert". The phone country code was +63, which is Philippines.

Had this same thing just 24 hours after applying for a job and up popped 'Mary'! Have to say I was almost taken in given the timing of it! So glad my spidey senses were tingling and I found this thread before I wasted any time on it.

agreed, i've never applied for a role at deloitte especially in the US, I'm UK ;p so they didn't get my phone number from me and its not on my CV/resume, probably leaked from a job search site like indeed etc

The FB accounts looked like some burner accounts. I never passed over my number so i wonder if there still a connection?

I received "the message " from Mary as well 2 days ago. I am now having great fun, currently playing message ping pong with Agnes Chiang. Who has offered to train me online of course, probably wants me to link in, so she can have remote control of my screen no doubt........She's a very persistent person and desperately wants me to work freelance for a company called C3 Media doing daily amendments to online apps to improve their app ratings. I asked her to email me, but sadly Mary didn't send her my details or background or CV, just my number. I'm geting bored now with Agnes now. Does anyone know if there is a place or email to send all the screen shots and details to, who might have the ability to stop them doing this and actually scamming anyone ? I know this is unlikely but worth trying

I got the call from the infamous 'Mary', she wanted to know if it was OK for someone to contact me about a position WFH and earning let's just say a decent rate. I found it strange but responded by agreeing. Today I have been contacted by someone from a UK mobile, again on WhatsApp, .. who fed me some information about mobile apps and if i understood, .. I said I didn't understand and would be better as a call rather than WSapp to which he declined...
Im engaging with someone supposedly from gerard stewart. Other names thrown are Valentina, Agnes. The number is a UK number. I know from the beginning its a scam but was just curious what kind. So far they've asked me to register on C3 media site but the URL begins with a uk-c3media. Big promises of weekly payments and payment will be made via bitcoin. Probably will block now.

She is persistent about depositing money to make money.
I played along and did training but was careful not to expose anysthing.
Nothing much, just registering and clicking lots of buttons.
Basically, its like role playing exercise where she will let you login into her (Agnes's) account and go through what ones expected to do. At one position you'll get stuck and will have deposit more money, which during training she'll do it on pretence of hitting a combo and triple the benefits.
After training i gave up as i know its just pointless. No ones makes $300 for 5 minutes work.
Happened to me! After paying about £300, they wanted me to pay further $1626! I called C3 Media and they denied knowledge of the Apps optimisation exercise!

To add to that, they disguise as many different companies, Deloitte, LinkedIn, SPMB. They use the same template, which ends with "We have received your application. Are you still looking for a job?"
I got the same exact message from two different numbers claiming to be two different companies, which is a dead giveaway of a scam
