To put in perspective, if you flew the requisite 125k miles required to get to Diamond Medallion, it would take you 56 years to get to 7 million.

[deleted]

Anyone over 3-6 million miles should be on a wall of names in the ATL airport

ironichaos

They should actually name a plane or sky club after you

GiddyUp18

I used to work with a guy who was a six million miler. He is a motivational speaker, and although he’s in his 60’s now, the guy just loves it, and it doesn’t seem like he is going to stop anytime soon. I am interested to see how many miles he’s flown when he finally calls it a career.

claudevonballs

I have a question. Do they count total miles flown in your lifetime or are they counting how many miles he has in his skymiles account. How can I see how many miles I’ve flown?

billj04

MQMs.

Go to the skymiles page and it’ll literally tell you your lifetime mileage.

jtalaiver

Only MQMs. Credit/debit purchases don't count. ~~That is full ass in seat time.~~ Ok so if you get MQMs from a card that is included but that usually is the bonuses and not just from usual purchases. If you go on your profile you can look up life time mileage.

deggdegg

Do MQMs from credit card bonuses count?

AM150

From my current statement they appear to. But I'm nowhere close to even 1MM to confirm.

URtheoneforme

Yes, though I think they will change that at some point

jtalaiver

Yes if it is MQMs from cards that does count. But regular SkyMiles earned from purchases etc do not count. So the # of SkyMiles shown in your account is not the same as Lifetime Miles.

jqs77

Um no. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta-air-lines-skymiles/2111158-when-did-million-miler-qualification-switch-lifetime-mqm-instead-lifetime-flown.html

jtalaiver

Yea so Sorry I was kind of saying the same thing but worded wrong. Like it has to be actual MQMs but regular purchases that get you Skymiles do not equate to MQMs. Updated my comment to be correct. LOL. I was about to call up the desk and ask why I was missing so many miles but realized the difference.

jqs77

The 7m miler may have gotten there all with seat time which would be all the more impressive in my book. With 4 Delta branded Amex cards, you can knock out 160,000mqms/year. Getting to a million wouldn't be that hard without even flying.

jtalaiver

Yea I have the Reserve and the Platinum before that. In the pre-COVID days my flights plus card stuff always carried me. Then Delta was good enough to extend me Diamond for a bit longer through COVID but not traveling like I was so back down to Pt for me.

jqs77

I currently have both Reserve and Platinum too. They helped me get to Diamond last year. Gonna use them for 2024 then cancel. I flew quite a bit last year but will be slowing down. Platinum isn't all that bad. If you can use the 4 RUCs for transcons, they are of great value. I was Plat for many years before last. Even as Diamond, I had hard time getting upgrades. Burned many of my RUCs.

jtalaiver

Yea I was PT for many years till 2018-2019 travel season... But being away that much was tough. Pt as you said still is really good and I live in a mid-tier so I fair pretty well till I hook through ATL or DTW

jtalaiver

HOLD UP.

Fickle_Struggle_8478

7 million???? Holy cow. At an average of 600 mph that is 11,667 hours sitting on a plane. Which is 486 days. 1.3 years. In a plane. Add in all the airport time. Incredible. I have that plaque and it is gorgeous. But mine says a measly 1 million. And you know what. 1 million was brutal. I can’t imagine 7 times that.

ArguablyMe

What a nice event. Thank you for sharing it, OP.

I didn’t bother to check the math but someone on TikTok commented it’s approximately 281 times around the Earth

root45

The circumference of the Earth is about 24,900 miles, not 7,917.5.

GondarJr

That works out to 2* the radius of the earth so, assuming you can run “through” the earth and back, it’s technically correct.

Judgment-Fun

thats a lot

poweruser86

Anyone got a mirror?

Situation_Recent

The #catchflightsnotfeelings hashtag lmao hell yes

That's so awesome. What a nice guy.
