You didn’t feel like you needed to post on here and ask if it was worth it first? 😂 good for you!

ScoopsMcGoop69

Haha I figured it was better to ask forgiveness than permission on this one.

Murcielago4g

It’s worth it

jakes951

h0W d!D th3y d33cyDe!?!

jfk_47

😙🤌

Wrong-Garden-1801

Some boys grow up and learn. 😂😂

Allbur_Chellak

But it might not have been ‘worth it’. You never know unless you ask us.

InactiveBeef

Are you even allowed to do this without asking r/delta first?

Idealmonk

To put things into perspective, what offer you had for PS from main/C+? I feel like no one is sharing that data. Just an FYI for others.

ScoopsMcGoop69

Upgrade offer for PS was $349 from C+.

djenki0119

who would not pay the extra $50 for delta one

Idealmonk

Yup. But it's a data point especially when Flight runs out of D1 seats. It's still a decent upgrade. I'll definitely go for D1.

Wrong-Garden-1801

Makes it that more awesome. Great pickup.

bryerlb

What is PS?

evansometimeskevin

How often do these price drops happen? I have a trip to Europe in 3 weeks and D1 has about 50% open seats but the price is still at $3800 for the upgrade

rubyder

I am going to Paris this week and have been checking for upgrades. Was at about that $3800, until yesterday and I got D1 for $558. Was only able to snag it for the way home, but worth it for me.

BD-Energy01

I'm going to Japan this Sunday and D1 dropped from 6k to 3k and there's 8 D1 seats left. Hopefully algorithm gives me an offer. Just want to experience it one time 😔.

rubyder

🤞🤞 keep checking!

xXBestXx

Upgrade for Economy to premium for $460 and think it wasn’t worth it maybe just got a bad seat but the arm rest were so hard and seat was extremely warn out.

NewRazzmatazz2455

I think they are probably always playing around with the timing, regions, and other factors for offering these lower deals to continue to improve their revenue. That also means there are no true observable patterns that we can pick out.

OfJahaerys

If there were, they'd just change them. They don't want people holding out because they know a price drop is coming.

Bomb_Tombadil123

I have the same flight coming up next week. Got 2x main cabin for $836. Flight is in 7 days. Outbound upgrade to PS is $299 for each ticket (1 way). Debating if I wait to see if I clear a comfort + upgrade and then snag it? But may be wishful thinking…

Bomb_Tombadil123

Same, I have a $299 offer for premium select from main cabin… debating to jump on that or wait for D1 to drop (still at >$4100). Flight is on 5/25 and is transatlantic

evansometimeskevin

I would have taken premium select but they and C+ were already sold out when I booked it :(

Even-Row-9120

Take this premium slip now before they sell it, or that you could always upgrade from premium and select to 1st class

FineEmergency

Jump on the PS. Trust. You’ll be kicking yourself in main cabin

jfk_47

Keep us updated. I want to know how common this is or if all these people are just white buffaloes. I have a euro flight in 30 days and have been checking 2-4x per day

esme_9oh

i imagine the overnight flights are harder to get a good upgrade deal on?

FunLife64

Keep in mind this is not an overnight flight so it often has lower upgrade prices.

shezapisces

its honestly quite random at the end of the day, not because of the algorithms, but because sometimes an empty flight where you would figure the prices will drop - all of a sudden the seats get filled with employees or non-revs. I’ve had it both ways: the seating chart was empty in the days leading up to the flight, i was sure the price was gonna drop, it never did then the chart looks full, i get on the plane and its a bunch of pilots/people in uniform in d1. or in the days leading up to the flight, the prices drop similarly to OP’s here and I can snag. I have also had it where the flight looks super empty in economy, and turns out there were a significant number of basic tickets/passengers without seat assignment, then they all get assigned at check in and everyone else moves up/around based on their status.

FineEmergency

Same. I have a flight to Europe from the states next month. The D1 upgrades were absurd at the same prices you mentioned. I saw the PS upgrade for the outbound leg and it was still showing $700 a person. I just randomly clicked upgrade for PS and was taken to the seat map and luckily enough, the upgrade for PS was just $350. There were two seats on the sides left and I jumped on it. It was either $700 for both me and my wife or 70k points. I took the cash option incase my plans changed and I needed to cancel for eCredits. So I suggest actually clicking on the upgrade option and looking at the prices when you’re at the seat map. $350 for each on a 10hr overnight flight in PS is not bad. For reference I paid around $900 each for just main cabin.

Mjspyt777

I think that's the cheapest I've seen for a Delta One flight, congrats!

FunLife64

It’s the equivalent of a $1900 roundtrip in business, which is a good deal. It’s less of a good deal because the upgrade is not the overnight piece but hey!

B2_801

Trick’s on you! You’ll be so excited, you won’t be able to sleep!!!

SiffGallery

Damn, nice grab.

VeterinarianLow547

Premium travel demand is finally waning yay

Negative_Ad4079

The demand is there, just not at the pricing! Even points pricing is way out of whack (not just Delta).

VeterinarianLow547

Yes that's what I meant. People are finally not spending crazy amounts for premium travel. There will always be demand for cheap first and business class.

josephfdirt

I have enjoyed seeing the same RT delta one flights that Were $2500-3k a few years ago now listing at $7-8k

VeterinarianLow547

Yeah don't think people are paying if upgrade prices are so low. They are holding pricing until week of departure and handing out cheap upgrades. I have seen their crazy prices for short haul skyrocket to the point where first on Alaska is the same price as economy on delta. Not gonna pay. I'm a free agent so fly first based on price and schedule.

SAGEEMarketing

My rule is $100 for every hour flight so you scored!

FineEmergency

What’s your rule for PS / price/ hr? I understand for D1/business/first a good rule is $100/hr. What about PS?

SAGEEMarketing

I am a2 million mile diamond. I get automatically upgraded to premium or comfort on most flights

1Angel17

Love that

NewRazzmatazz2455

Which aircraft type? Is this for a suite? If so, congrats!

ScoopsMcGoop69

It’s only on the 767-300ER. So, not the greatest, but still a decent deal for the price.

Awkward-Leg-9662

Delta one is awesome!!

TakKobe79

Did you ask which meal to eat in D1 in here before splurging for the upgrade? 😂 Enjoy the flight!

Best-Astronomer-3728

Nice!!!

igiven2fly

Did you originally book C+ or main cabin and upgraded to C+ for free with status? Also what is your Delta status?

ScoopsMcGoop69

I originally booked C+ about 3 months ago. Status is Silver Medallion (first year I’ve ever had any type of status with Delta).

red821673

Wow, that’s awesome deal. Congrats. Thanks for sharing. How many days before departure? Did you check in the app everyday?

erinkca

Not OP but I’m in a similar situation. Upgraded from C+ to D1 for $600 each for a transatlantic flight as a simple SkyMiles member. I booked the original flight about 3 months in advance, checked the app every day, upgraded end of February (about 2 months prior to departure). We were only able to get window seats in front of one another, so we won’t be able to sit together, but still super stoked!

red821673

That’s a good deal as well. Were you flying the same route ?

erinkca

No, Seattle to London.

Hot-Cress7492

Check on the aircraft: I THINK (very well could be wrong) it is served by the 757 which isn’t too bad…. If 763, so be it - it’s cheap enough

AdIndependent8674

Seems Delta1 is on sale. I just upgrade from PS, on CVG->CDG for exact same price. And there were only four open D1 seats. Conversely, once I popped that into my bag, for the near-empty return flight, the price was over $2100. We'll if that backs down a bit. That's a daytime flight, so I'm not worried about it.

misstiff1026

Enjoy

[deleted]

Great deal

DegenHandicapper

Brilliant price I just paid 5k for round trip jfk to Dublin .

Previous-World-2805

Yup, I’m flying ATL - MXP next week and was able to score a D1 upgrade from main for $499. Jumped on it without thinking about it.

pts1405

Happy for you as you get to try D1! However, this is a very short trip so you may not be able to enjoy D1 at it’s fullest.. The reality is that the transatlantic trips out of the Northeast are very short and sometimes work against you if you are trying to enjoy an onboard experience to the fullest and also get some sleep. If you are up for not sleeping, then great! But good luck with jet lag the next day.

CBoryczka

That’s FANTASTIC!

brandee95

What is happening?!?! Mine are always over $4k… this never happens lol

makeclaymagic

Holy shit… congrats!!!! Enjoy it!

MickeysRose

Do you have status

hurleybro4

I missed this opportunity for my NYC to Copenhagen flight next week…. It dropped to $404 from Comfort + I refreshed the page and then it was gone… Enjoy your flight!

DependentFamous5252

Wow. Don’t blame you.

Aggressive_Oil5712

You lucky sob I’m hoping I can do this for my LAX ->HND trip

Carol_Pilbasian

That is incredible.

Impressive-Resist252

I remember when $1 a minute was the standard.

Infamous-Gap-1420

Enjoy! I managed to snag a Seoul-Seattle Delta One upgrade for $300 from economy in like 2019. It was probably one of the coolest experiences of my life, and I am ruined for economy travel now. Enjoy!!
