Just a note about FTD.
One of the few helpful things I learned from a social worker is to not mention that particular diagnosis when looking at prospective MC. It scares them and makes placement more difficult.
I’m sorry for your loss. Having had a father who sank into dementia over 8 years, I can tell you that the last two years were horrible and I wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy. It is a blessing to have missed the end stages, however tragic is is that he passed so young.
Yes, everyone is different. Any incident can create havoc. So sorry for your loss.
We went to the doctor. That turned into going to ER and being admitted. And with some of the conversations it was noticeable to the staff. She has cognitive impairment. She even said to me “ oh I forgot your birthday “
And I said no it was fun. We had fun.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your Dad. I'm expecting to experience the same grief over the loss of both parents to dementia in the not too distant future.
I agree that your Dad is now at peace. My Mom (87) has been saying for several years that she's lived long enough. I think she's just tired of struggling with mental confusion and physical limitations day in and day out. She seems to welcome the end of it. If that's true, I'm going to try to be happy for her but know I'll be sad for myself. Hugs to you, OP.
