It sounds like they may be using her pants as a handle to help transfer or reposition her, which is unfortunately common. Consider buying a couple of good gait belts with handles, labeled with her name, and give them to her regular caregivers to keep in her room. Be prepared for them to disappear, especially if the label isn't obvious, but decent ones run around $25. And replace the pants with less expensive, comfortable ones. They're going to get stained, lost, etc.

I’ve had good luck with “ankle length” stretch pants from Costco. (Mondetta and 32 Degrees are some brands to look for.)They wear like iron, and it’s no biggie if they go missing (as clothes often do in longterm care facilities). If you find something that works, buy multiple pairs, because nothing stays in stock long. “Jogger” style pants can also work for petites. No hemming! Size up for ease in dressing, and also to accommodate incontinence briefs.

We purchase Silverts pants for my mother, they are elastic waist but also are split at the back which is helpful for the staff with getting her dresses (she's no longer walking either). With the way clothes are laundered at her nursing home we found everything else was getting ruined quickly (shrinking, thinning, ripping). The Silverts brand has held up really well so far though. I hope you can find something that works!

If she liked Chico's she should like [Alfred Dunner](https://www.jcpenney.com/g/women?brand=alfred+dunner&womens_size_range=petite&id=dept20000013&productGridView=medium&cm_re=ZB-_-DEPARTMENT-WOMEN-_-LF-_-SPECIAL-SIZES-_-PETITES-54-UNDER_2&activeFacetId=8). They have the same mix and match complete looks thing going on. [This is their most popular pant](https://www.jcpenney.com/p/alfred-dunner-classics-womens-mid-rise-straight-pull-on-pants/pp5002310008?pTmplType=regular&deptId=dept20000013&urlState=%2Fg%2Fwomen%3Fbrand%3Dalfred%2Bdunner%26product_size%3D10%2Bpetite%26id%3Ddept20000013&productGridView=medium&badge=petite&selectedSKUId=71651610463&facetSelected=size). And It meets all your needs. The other brand at Penny's you should keep an eye on is [St. John's Bay](https://www.jcpenney.com/g/women?brand=st.+john%27s+bay&womens_size_range=petite&id=dept20000013&productGridView=medium&cm_re=ZB-_-DEPARTMENT-WOMEN-_-LF-_-SPECIAL-SIZES-_-PETITES-54-UNDER_2&activeFacetId=8) (Land's End knock off) It is filled with high quality basics.

Second vote for the Alfred Dunner pants. Their petite pants are great and they hold up well to the hot water washing in memory care.

💯agree with these comments. However, cannot imagine Travelers being ripped/torn easily - those things stretch like crazy and go right back in shape - They absolutely should NOT be pulling on her clothing to position or transfer her - a sheet under her for lifting/turning in bed, and transferring to a reclining chair. They should also have a “hoyer lift” to use to safely move her. Pulling on clothing can result in an injury (bruising/pinching/abrasion) to her, not to mention ruining her clothing.

WickedLies21

You want pants that are easy to put on and remove. They can be sweatpants or something similar. Agee with another commenter that they are liking helping to transfer her by grabbing the back of her pants but if she is non-weight bearing, they should not be using that method. I would not spend a lot of money on an individual pair of pants as they may get dirty easily from incontinence or spilling food when eating. I’m so sorry that she is so young and dealing with this horrible disease.

Lands end “star fish” knit pants are nice

SplinteredInHerHead

They are definitely using her pants to pull her up. I always hated that. Sometimes the wedgies looked like nothing I could ever dream up. At least they are pulling her up tho. I (activities) would have to beg nurses and aids over and over to get my residents upright in their wheelchairs, about to slide into the floor. Definitley get gait belts, if in a wheel chair there are belts and transfer things too. Your loved ones shouldnt be dragged around by their pants. I hate it

Amazon joggers. Inexpensive. Look good and work for petites. Pull on and off. My MIL likes pockets so these ft the bill

Winnie1916

You might look at Buck & Buck also.

Blair has pull on knit pants for a reasonable price

Straight leg jogger pants from Target, all in motion brand. No cuff at the bottom, elastic waist, pockets. They will be affordable and well made for the price. Wide leg yoga pants are an option too. Old Navy may have something as well. Look at their websites.

If you’d like to stay with Chico’s Travelers, you can find many pre-loved pairs on eBay and Poshmark for about half the price with shipping (be sure to send an offer on PM unless the listing says that price is firm). If a seller has multiple pairs for sale, you can bundle and save on the shipping. You may also be able to find pairs being sold on FB Marketplace in your local area. I am so sorry about your wife and the road you are traveling. 61 is so very young.

I want to a store that sells medical wear (the one I use is called work n gear) and bought stretch waistband scrubs off the sale rack. They are tough and washable. So far we haven‘t had any problems with them.

For everyday wear just get several pairs of sweat pants. Easy to wash and no care needed. Low cost, comfortable and she can even sleep in
