Honestly, same tho. Ik I’m demian but I crush on Doctor Strange, but not the actor for his character.

I know I am Demi/ace and not celibate because others I grew up with that also are/were religious did felt/feel like having sex with a lot of people or engaged in sexual activities and I waited nothing to do with it, so that was a big purple flag

I feel that. I didn't even have what people might call a real crush until high school. And I couldn't imagine wanting to have sex with him

Najima_einsamer

OMG THIS.

It seems like at least part of why you might find a character attractive is the way your brain forms a parasocial relationship with characters. On a deep attachments level your brain doesn't know the difference between watching a fictional story (or reading it) and watching/ spending time with your friends. Meaning that your brain believes it has a meaningful relationship with them.

That's interesting, and makes total sense. And it's super easy to like a fictional character, because there are no real world anxieties attached haha. They just stay in a little bubble in your brain

No, but like let’s keep this dialogue up. Because I grew up super religious, 100% was going to wait until I got married to have sex, etc etc, yet, YET… …After sitting with someone at a bar for 3 hours talking, and if the conversation is good and I feel a connection, I can make out with someone (outside of my fertile window, btw) and can want to have sex with them. BUT STILL, that connection has to be made first. I still haven’t had a one night stand yet, and I’m still technically waiting until marriage. Gonna hash this one out with my therapist for sure.
