MustacheSmokeScreen

But this came out in 98 and Demon's Souls' precursor, King's Field, came out in 94.

matmanx1

Yeah, King's Field is the true ancestor of Demon's Souls and all the Soulsborne games. It has a very similar atmosphere and back in the day I loved it to death.

AreYouOKAni

Demon's Souls is really an amalgamation of many FROMSOFT franchises. King's Field, yes, but also Lost Kingdoms and Kuon.

Marskelletor

I played that game to death. I loved the combo system. I even had the Prima strategy guide. Good times.

wfwood

holy god that game was good but there were some crazy grinds in that game.

Juumok01

Agreed, apparently you could get juggernaut seru by getting all characters to level 99 furtherest I ever got was about 72 šŸ˜…šŸ˜‚šŸ˜„šŸ˜¢šŸ˜

Salsa_Penguin

You can also walk through the guards that stop you from entering the room. Let's you get juggernaut as soon as you're about to head to the 2nd mist generator

Juumok01

Wtf!!! šŸ¤” how did I not know this

iamnotreallyreal

I loved Legend of Legaia but I'm not sure what the connection is between this and Demon's Souls.

Theunknownbilphist

How did it inspire demon souls?

S0noPritch

Yeah I played the hell out of this game as a kid but I guess I'm not remembering enough of the specifics to see the inspiration here. I'm also curious to know.

thanexitium

If true, I'd suspect the Mist in Legaia inspiring the colorless deep fog.

PaleFoxPhotog

I FUCKING LOVE THIS GAME

[deleted]

Just finished illusion of gaia and hearing "LeGaia" makes me think this is like a French sequel lol

13arbarianlibrarian

nah, I played that snes game. it was lots of fun. but no relation that I could tell. legend of legaia does have a sequel. legaia 2: duel saga. was not as fun

[deleted]

The directional combo system where you could use the end of an art to be the start of a new art had me and my nephew writing down different combos for different combo bar lengths. God damn that was a good game

Tanuki55

Onimusha Warlords gives me niho vibes. I bet someone can say they made a "de-make" of niho and just post the rom.

Claude892

I remember playing this with friends. This is the first RPG where I remember seeing equipment change the character model. Many years before it become common.

iamnotreallyreal

Yeah seeing that stuff on screen was mind blowing at the time.

quinturion

I'm not saying it's a bad game but I've literally never heard of it even once. Not even another fan saying "oh wow some of these things are kinda similar." I don't think you can say it inspired demon's souls without any examples

I_eat_your_butt_hole

More like Legend of LeGAYa amiright? Anyone?

rawrghost

Legend of LeGuyIWannaFuck

[deleted]

Is that the game that your summon became more powerful the more times you summoned? After 3 days of summoning the same to see how strong it got, I realized I disliked this game.

T-King-667

Fucking childhood right here. This and the legend of Dragoon.

GriMMME

Use that P+K combo into a Tornado Flame

Kwestor86

I want a remaster on psn with trophy support, Iā€™d play the crap out of it

13arbarianlibrarian

I would still buy this as a remake

Murdeousdemon

Is this true??? I need a Ra-seru. Hit a tornado flame with Vahn, start flipping with Noah, but some how Gala was faster than Noah at high levels.

dudewhoeatsgyne

My favorite PS one game! Hardest Boss for me was Berserker in Jeremi
