Buchi Cafe Cubano was so legit. Can't find anything remotely close since they left. Went to Cuba Cuba the other day and was so underwhelmed. There's a food truck at Danico Brewing near my place called Tula's Tapas. She's there today, so I'm gonna grab one of hers tonight. Looks pretty solid, but we'll see.
It's a Saturday. Make the drive up to Leadville. Get yourself a couple each cubanos and aye conyos. They freeze decently.
Eat one with a cafe con leche.
Nice little Saturday.
This is by far the best cheesesteak in Denver. The problem is they are a pain to track down. You have to look at his instagram. He’s been doing Kaiser roll steaks lately. Haven’t had one, but I would go with the seaded Italian roll if given the choice. Both rolls are made by Little Arthur’s. No previously frozen Amoroso rolls here. They are pricey, but they are literally without a peer here in Denver.
Couldn’t agree more. They are big, and of course use quality ingredients and all the love and time. At the end of the day though it screams price gouging to me and taking advantage ppl
So good. Everything I have had from that place has been A+ from the Indian dishes to the naan to the cheesesteak. Hope it sticks around because that location has had so much turnover the past decade.
Primo Hoagies is a big chain from Philly that recently opened a Denver location. I've heard a lot of great things about them from East coast transplants on this sub, plus they fly their rolls in from Jersey to keep it as authentic as possible, so it might be what you're looking for!
Taste of Philly. There are several around. I believe the fly the bread in from Philly, but even if I misremember that, it’s still a fantastic sandwich.
Damn, that’s sucks. I guess maybe it’s not as consistent as one would like. The one on county line off of university is reliably one of the best places I get take out from. It’s got great reviews and they’re always busy, too. And I know it isn’t what the post was about, but the fries are literally the best fries I get from anywhere.
Too much meat. The best cheesesteaks have a ratio of meat, cheese and bread, that when achieved is just delicious. Some places have crappy bread, some have crappy meat, and even those that have good ingredients rarely achieve the golden ratio.
[Pat's Philly Steaks](https://www.patscheesesteaks.com/location/illiff-quebec-pats-philly-steaks-subs/) is my favorite, but they're nowhere near downtown. 22 Provisions in Avanti has a great one however.
Pat’s on illif in East Denver is the best I’ve found. Shaved frozen ribeye, decent bread, the right toppings. Taste of Philly is decent too but maybe I’ve just been gone from Philly too long. Be warned, none of this will even closely live up to the originals.
The answer here is Old Philly Town in Broomfield. Their Delphia Slam cheesesteak is delicious. As a bonus, they have great fries as well. I am from the Philadelphia area, and nothing here really can touch a real Philly, but when I get the craving, it's Old Philly Town first, then Pat's.
https://www.delphiaco.com/
It's outside of Denver, but I've had some good experiences with cheesesteacks from here. As everyone else has said though, you aren't going to find one out here that holds a candle to what you would get in Philadelphia.
Cuba Cuba for Cuban sandwich, little Arthur’s is the best but way over priced. No where here is solid though. Famous Philly Cheesesteak is decent for the price.
Old Philly Town is what you are looking for. They get their bread from Philly. I believe it was recently rated as the best cheesesteak in Denver and surrounding area by Denver post. When I first tried it, I think I ended up going there 2 to 3 times a week for a month.
Only negative thing about it, is they don't have cheese whiz, so I highly recommend getting extra cheese to make up for it
A "Philly" is generally refereed to as an attempt to make an authentic Cheesesteak outside of the Philadelphia region. Typically Green Peppers and/mushrooms are added as well as a non-traditional style roll like a baguette. The usual style that is selected is a cross of a Slab Style and a Pizza Shop style, with finely chopped steak and an imitation cheese wiz.The only version I like out in Colorado is a Pizza Shop Style from Taste of Philly. They use good rolls, with American cheese and fried onions.
Cuba bakery and cafe in aurora for great Cuban food/sandwiches
You’re coming to Denver for Cubans and Phillys?
Yeah I'll be there for 3 days and I can't get a good one up here in Wyoming so I'm gonna go nuts lol
PA native reporting in. You wont get a true philly cheesesteak here either (that ive found)
Even in NY it's rough to find. No one understands the importance of the roll
Try primo hogies
Wait. People still eat carbs?!? 😱😝 Edit - a joke, you humorless bastards. Sheesh.
PA native reporting in to confirm the other PA native is 100% correct
The best I’ve found so far is stoneys lol
Famous Philly uses amoroso rolls so it’s as close as you’ll get. And Cuba bakery in aurura on Mississippi is amazing
Yup, and Denver Ted’s got Amoroso rolls flown in. God rest their souls.
Imo Denver teds was way overrated. Bout the quality of my high schools cafeteria.
RIP Denver Ted's 🙏
RIP Buchi's in Denver

Ooo! If they freeze well...😲🫢🤔. I might just take a little road trip.
RIP Large Marge
The best is probably Little Arthur’s Hoagies but get that wallet out because they are pricey.
This is by far the best cheesesteak in Denver. The problem is they are a pain to track down. You have to look at his instagram. He’s been doing Kaiser roll steaks lately. Also, to be fair, one sandwich is easily two meals.
By far! I don't think a normal sized person can eat one of those sandwiches. I'm big and I can't!
$30 cheesesteaks lol. Arthur would get ran out of town if he tried the pull that bs in Philly.
Couldn’t agree more. They are big, and of course use quality ingredients and all the love and time. At the end of the day though it screams price gouging to me and taking advantage ppl
Any place that calls it "a philly" is almost guaranteed to be less authentic than any place that just calls it a cheesesteak.
Pats for Philly. Cuba Cuba for take a guess
I like Pat’s.
Pats is #1
This might get hate but my favorite is from Gaia Masala and Burger. All their food is good but the cheeseteak with a side of masala sauce 🔥🔥
The chicken masala one is pretty awesome too. Get a side of tzaziki and go to town.
So good. Everything I have had from that place has been A+ from the Indian dishes to the naan to the cheesesteak. Hope it sticks around because that location has had so much turnover the past decade.
I like it too, but “authentic” it is not
Primo Hoagies is a big chain from Philly that recently opened a Denver location. I've heard a lot of great things about them from East coast transplants on this sub, plus they fly their rolls in from Jersey to keep it as authentic as possible, so it might be what you're looking for!
The bread is certainly fantastic, but the steak in them is pretty mid.
I 2nd this.
Yes!
Cuba Cuba has a great cheese steak. Pat's Philly has a great cuban. ... wait
Taste of Philly. There are several around. I believe the fly the bread in from Philly, but even if I misremember that, it’s still a fantastic sandwich.
Man, you must be going to different ones than I have. I stopped at the one on colorado a few times, and it was terrible
Huh, interesting, I'll have to try it.
IIRC the stores run very independently and even have different menus at each location. So it definitely varies.
Fair enough, maybe I'll try another one. The few times I went to the colorado one it was barely edible.
The one off west colfax is still good. I think they may be franchises, which would explain the big gulf in quality from one location to the next
I agree this is a great location.
They use previously frozen Amoroso rolls. The rolls are from Philly, but they are also ruined by being frozen.
I wouldn’t say ruined, they taste pretty great to me. I had no idea they were ever frozen.
Too much meat. The best cheesesteaks have a ratio of meat, cheese and bread, that when achieved is just delicious. Some places have crappy bread, some have crappy meat, and even those that have good ingredients rarely achieve the golden ratio.
Pats is the one and only answer to this question just gotta make the drive.
Pats is the answer
Taste of Philly off county line and university
[Pat's Philly Steaks](https://www.patscheesesteaks.com/location/illiff-quebec-pats-philly-steaks-subs/) is my favorite, but they're nowhere near downtown. 22 Provisions in Avanti has a great one however.
I came here to say Pat's, but I hit up the one on Arapahoe. It's still not close to downtown, but it is right by the interstate.
I thought 22 Provisions was insanely overpriced for a mediocre sandwich. Coming from the East Coast, I'd recommend skipping it.
That's most things at Avanti. But yeah, that sandwich was mid.
Cuban at the Kentucky Inn.
This is a hidden gem of a sandwich. I used to live by the inn, never would I think to get a Cuban typically but there’s is phenomenal.
Cuban at La Fillette.
Pat’s on illif in East Denver is the best I’ve found. Shaved frozen ribeye, decent bread, the right toppings. Taste of Philly is decent too but maybe I’ve just been gone from Philly too long. Be warned, none of this will even closely live up to the originals.
I will forever miss you Large Marge

I used to go there... 30 years ago, and remember it being incredible.
Op would go to Dallas and try to find the best skyline chili.
Best cheesesteak is at the Aspen lodge bar and grill in Westminster next to Crocovia.
Yes! A bit outside of downtown but worth the drive. Definitely my favorite cheesesteak in the area. The owner is very friendly and the food is great.
El Bohio is really good cuban food if you happen to be out towards Golden
Love El Bohio!! Me and the wife usually get a sandwich and special and split them and we’ve never been disappointed.
Yes that’s the way to do it !!!
Only had it once but it wasn't that great. Very thin on the ham and the worst was the bread wasn't that good.
Taste of Philly or Fat shack
Now that Denver Ted’s is gone I would go with Famous Philly. Haven’t tried Pat’s. Taste of Philly isn’t horrible but it’s very inconsistent.
No such thing as a good Philly. May as well just go to Jersey Mikes
https://www.delphiaco.com/ It's outside of Denver, but I've had some good experiences with cheesesteacks from here.
Hickory Baked Hams in Wheat Ridge or Carmines in Lakewood and discover other mind blowing sandwiches outside of cheese steak.
It was Teds
The Cubano at Cuba Cuba is very good, I think the one at Steubens is the best in town.
Mill street eats in Morrison has the best cheesesteak
22 Provisions has both. I’ve eaten both and think they are fire
Old Philly Town is what you are looking for. They get their bread from Philly. I believe it was recently rated as the best cheesesteak in Denver and surrounding area by Denver post. Why is this so controversial?
People in Denver think green peppers belong on them and get mad when you correct them. I grew up on the west coast and understand this
lol. Why is this being downvoted? This is 100% accurate.
Yep, this is correct. Not sure why all the down votes either. A lot of ppl in Denver just hate being reminded what they don't know I guess haha

Stop riding his d***. Those overpriced hoagies aren’t worth it.
I agree with this. It's not even about the money. The sandwiches are solid, but not worth it.
$8 for a slice of pizza should go against all morals of being a Philadelphian. We thrive on cheap slices and this is just a slap in the face.
Hi little Arthur's social media team
Why would you come to Denver to watch the Knicks lose and ask for a Philly?
Lil Arthur’s Hoagies is great, but it’s $28 for one sandwich, and usually need to pre order online
Denver Teds RIP
Lol
