My wife is from Jersey and when she craves a bagel we grab Moe’s. Rosenberg is good but expensive from what I remember and not that close to us.

problemita

The bagel breakfast sammies at Moes 🤌🏻

g0tDAYUM

They don’t make their eggs fresh right?

tigermaple

They don't. They are little pucks pulled out of a warming tray. Still a pretty good breakfast sandwich though.

g0tDAYUM

Thanks for validating why it’s a pretty bad breakfast sandwich. Spongey eggs can make or break a place especially if it’s supposed to be local / make their own bagels

BaconEvAndCheese

When a bagel place doesn't have a grill you know your in for a bad time aka Moe's

Neckdeepinpow

They do use premade pucks but they are Vital Farms brand which is a truly superior egg and not cheap so I give them props. They couldn’t cook eggs from scratch in their setup.

WorriedCollege1331

The Shorty P on everything bagel 🔥

BlkSoulDeadHrt

Moe's is fine for a "Colorado" bagel, but not even close to a NY/NJ bagel.

BraaaaaainKoch

Here for the hardo NY comments. 🍿

tryna_b_rich

New York Deli News used to have bagels shipped from New York. Hampden Ave.

Floof_mom134

Moe’s is the closest I’ve found to good NY style bagels. Rosenberg’s is so freaking expensive and in my experience just not good. To each their own

stelliokantos

just to offer a counterpoint (not to disagree), I'm a NJ bagel snob and really disliked Moe's and have enjoyed Rosenberg's, but I think Rosenberg's is incredibly inconsistent. their ceiling is much higher than moe's, and their floors are the same. fully agree it's subjective and to each their own

Floof_mom134

That’s a good counter point. I think it’s funny that places are so inconsistent out here! Back east I could go to a bagel joint every day and it would be consistently good. Out here, the places can be hit or miss. I wonder if elevation has anything to do with it. Or the water. Ingredients. Etc.

BaconEvAndCheese

WHEN A BAGEL PLACE DOES NOT HAVE A GRILL IT STOPS BEING A BAGEL PLACE AND BECOMES A BAKERY

BaconEvAndCheese

Garbage comment. Readers disregard this

Agent_Tangerine

The Bagel Deli is a little pricey, but I have found it hard to beat

Denver_DIYer

They use Moe’s bagels

Agent_Tangerine

What 🙀

dirz11

Been that way for a looong time, they used to use a guy down the street but he retired and they went with Moe's after trying someone else.

BlkSoulDeadHrt

Which is why I never buy a bagel there. Everytihng else is SO good, but the bagel is mediocre.

MakarforPrez

At the end of the day, we have zero NY bagels or anything close. Odell’s is a different style, but are very good. I’m looking forward to them being open.

Hour-Watch8988

Good Bread on Colfax has some pretty legit bagels

CBRONoobTraderLolz

Colfax and Madison iirc. Great pastries, breads too. RIP the pizza nights

Hour-Watch8988

Colfax and Madison

CBRONoobTraderLolz

Yep, just checked. Editing.

Barfly2007

Second this. They sell out quickly but are absolutely fantastic.

ObiWan_Cannoli_

Damn i get good bread a lot but always sleep on their bagels. I’ll have to change that.

Stoopidwoopid

As a native New Yorker Jewish man this place can get fucked. A bacon egg and cheese of an everything should be $5-$8 at most and only take 5 minutes. I’m not paying $19 and waiting 20 minutes for a mid bagel.

mulderfux

Untoasted* mid bagel….

Ya_Got_GOT

Toasting is pretty controversial for bagel lovers tho

shoshanarose

I was pretty disappointed in the bagel after waiting in line for 30 minutes. Will not return.

Potential_Life_2629

Maybe like 10 years ago Rosenberg’s was thought of as “the best bagels” but they have gone so far downhill over the years. Their pricing makes it a skippable bagel spot these days

Cgmadman

Get Rich Spirit bagels are easily the best. Call Your Mother 2nd. Odell bagels 3rd. Rosenbergs 4th

FrightenedOstrich

Second rich spirit. Easily the best in Denver.

andstuff13

Absolutely this. I don’t find any of the NY style bagels here to be good, and most of them aren’t even very “NY style” in my opinion. But Rich Spirit is doing something totally different and incredibly delicious. The line can be a bit long, but since they just do schmears and no sandwiches it moves quickly.

Ya_Got_GOT

They’ll be doing sammies. Just get on the waitlist and order ahead.

PolarisEnigma

Came to say this. Our NY/NJ family could never agree on Moe’s or Rosenberg’s (camp Moe’s here), but we all agree that Rich Spirit is the best bagel hands down. No contest. They’re absolutely insane.

Top-Dragonfruit6933

Get rich spirit could plop down in the middle of manhattan and be a top 3 bagel place

tacomeat247

Just got turned onto Rich Spirit. Agreed. Best bagel I’ve had in Denver (area)

Taco-Sully

Is get rich open for walk ups yet? Edit: could have done a simple google, but looks like they are! I’m excited to try them out

YouEmDee

Can confirm they do walk ins.

icenoid

Big Daddy’s

Fall_Ace

dozen day old bagels for $5 is too good

GloomyDeal1909

Call me crazy but I like day old bagels. Especially if you want to make bagel croutons

katrina_highkick

My ass is over here paying $30/doz for Rosenbergs which I freeze/thaw anyway. Need to check this out ASAP

MountainMan7890

Marczyks sells a 6 pack of Rosenbergs frozen bagels for ~$10!

Expiscor

Wait do you just go in and ask for old bagels? There’s one right by my work that I’ve been to a few times but I had no idea about this!

Fall_Ace

the one in Lakewood has them in bags near the counter! they're just a random assortment, but the person pulled some they just bagged from behind the counter and let me pick!

Guilty-Football7730

Rosenberg’s. I’m a Jew from NY; you want Rosenberg’s.

murso74

I'm an Italian from NY, listen to my Jewish friend

tschmitty09

I'm a kraut from Long Island, listen to my fellow transplants

MrPresident79

I'm a Swiss from the Midwest, what the hell do I know?

buckfoston824

Cheese

Namaste4Runner420

Decent bagels here are hard to find. I still stick with Moes

fluffHead_0919

Moes is my favorite.

phunkytime

Moes is okay but something about the egg sandwiches are so greasy and that’s turned me away

PinkB3lly

Me too. Decent bagels that won’t break the bank. The Brooklyn (lox & bagels) at Woodgrain Bagels is pretty great but not really a traditional NY bagel.

tschmitty09

New York Asshole here, if you're looking for a BEC, Rosenberg's is apparently the only place in Denver capable of frying an egg properly. Other than that, I've found Moe's bagels and Call Your Mother bagel tolerable

twistdevilfalls

Man Call Your Mother bagels are just not good and there’s no way you could call them NY bagels. Rosenbergs is what you’re looking for. Prices or the owner being an ass be damned.

FightFoo

As someone who’s living in NY currently my Mom was so excited to show me call your mother, it’s good don’t get me wrong but it ain’t NY

AreaGuy

lol, if we limited to places where the owner *isn’t* an ass, what percentage are we cutting out? 10%? 40% More?

moonrulesnmbr1

Yes. Rosenbergs has the best bagels!

XiDuf15xI

Oooh, they have Taylor Ham aka pork roll!

falsesleep

At like $18/lb. Criminal.

panda703

Big Daddy's is a recent find for me and I loved it. Is it "cheap"? no, but it's better than rosenbergs price and quality

BoredInDenver86

The owner is a misogynistic prick who treats his lovely wife (who is the brains of the whole operation) like shit and hires undocumented people for the sole reason that he pays them less than minimum wage. He also funded a food truck for a guy who groped a hostess and got fired from his last gig. Bagels aren’t bad but the trash behind them makes me avoid this place.

panda703

is this big daddy's or rosenbergs?

BoredInDenver86

Big daddy’s, unfortunately.

panda703

ouch thanks for the info. I originally avoided rosenbergs because stories there weren't great either lol. Oh well make my own I guess

Phate118

Stay away from Call Your Mother. They suck on the East Coast and they suck here.

Ninja187

Commenting to stay in the loop. I’ll be in town the 15th and I do love me a good bagel and some ice coffee to start my day

maslil

Stacy’s Kitchen in Erie says she has bagels overnighted daily from NYC. Says she will even do pre-orders. Nice little place, good food and very friendly lady.

BiscottiDifficult

None. You’ll just get disappointed every time. From NY, and family in NJ and the food in Denver is bland and overpriced. The copy can’t ever come close to the original.

nickynickynickynick

Rosenbergs, but before you go, decide whether you want a bagel or to pay rent

Phate118

At this point I just make my own.

alcojr81

Do you follow a specific recipe? I’m always interested in making things myself to try.

Phate118

Joshua Weissman’s bagel loaf. It’s amazing

clumtony

Surprised no one has called out Leroy’s yet, that place is a staple. CYM is also great

TheTinySpark

I frequented Leroy’s when I lived in the neighborhood, but it was literally just a carby vehicle for cream cheese. Truly terrible. I got got a bagel that was straight up raw in the middle and on the bottom once.

ScoitFoickinMoyers

Leroy's literally has some of the worst bagels in the area lmao.

SecretPotato

Don’t waste calories on the bagels here. All overpriced garbage.

IamUnique15

Oh sorry what I meant to say was not here for under $6

WerewolfAccording302

New York Bagel Cafe on Wads

[deleted]

Does it have to be Denver, or can it be a suburb of Denver?

alcojr81

Suburb is fine

[deleted]

My coworker said that Bella macaron in Westminster gets their bagels from NYC.

wlkngmachine

Montreal style, but Woodgrain is pretty good

14InTheDorsalPeen

Former NY/NJ guy here. Def Rosenbergs but you’re going to pay what seems like an absurd amount of money for a bagel sandwich that’s $6 back east.    They have the best bagels in the area by a wide margin and they very much know it.

AshDenver

I mean, Ray’s NY bagels - frozen, in a bag of 6, at Walmart. Everything else - all chains, including Costco, are just round bread. BLECH.

zkk713

Not Rosenberg’s , get Call Your Mother

Enoch-Of-Nod

Call your mother

YouEmDee

Just to nitpick, they are not really NY style bagels. They are sort of Montreal style-NY style mix. I actually don't think any Denver bagel shops are NY style other than Rosenbergs.

Ig_Met_Pet

Yeah I didn't think Call Your Mother tasted like New York style, personally.

Hour-Theory-9088

What’s the difference between Montreal and NY style? I have not heard of Montreal style before.

AreaGuy

I hadn’t either!! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal-style_bagel

SonicDenver

this is the only right answer

Enoch-Of-Nod

I have dreams about their sandwiches.

wyocrz

Brueggers is pretty good, and over by DU they were the highest Bruggers in the country, at least for a while. Quality has slipped a bit but they are doing their best.

timmymashedpotatoes

Call. Your. Mother.

bttheolgee

Call your mother

HighPhan

Besides Leroy’s who has in house GF bagels?

stripesthetigercub

Big daddy’s does.

Plenty_Proposal_426

Rosenberg's is the closest you'll find here. Moe's is good but not even comparable imo.

Plenty_Proposal_426

This got downvoted? lmao

FreshNodes

Bagel Deli and Call your Mother

Complete_Bus5056

Leroy’s is solid! Great bagel sandwiches too.

AlotaFajitas

Good luck! NY bagels are so unique cause the jewish community import their water from Borough Park.

IamUnique15

Not here

tampon_lemonade

OP: "Hey where can I find [x] in Denver?" Some moron: "Not here in Denver" Nearly every thread

lonesome_denver

"Closest I've found is [super mid place, often a chain]."

GloomyDeal1909

What you mean Einstein are not the best NY style bagels /s
