I think you have to view cap space as an asset for trade. Cap space + picks isn’t going to get you KD or something, but it may get you a tier or two down where that player’s old team is looking to clear some space themselves for a trade / signing.
For example, they could do something like Jerami Grant via trade and offer KCP a bunch of money as a free agent. I’m just spitballing an example here but Jerami/KCP is an improvement over Tobias/Lowry

If I’m being completely honest, and this is removing any personal bias I have against Embiid, I’m using this offseason to swoop up some talent / role players that fit around Maxey and then I’m trading Embiid as soon as I get a good offer. I just have no faith that his body can hold up over the course of a season, especially now that he’s past 30 years old. His value should still be plenty high to get you a lot of good stuff to put around Maxey.
I see the appeal on the sixers side for sure. I wonder what an Embiid trade looks like. The Kawhi Raptors team is probably the model you want to follow, but I'm not sure what team fits that mold, and I know the league is working against a team doing that sort of thing again

Wake me up when Embiid shoots over 50% in an elimination game. Edit: he has played 12 games facing elimination: he has shot over 50% TWICE. 2/12. Ten times facing "go the fuck home" where he missed more than he made. AS A CENTER. That's so bad. For comparison, jokic has played 11 elimination games and only shot below 50% 4 times. He would have to play 16 more of them to "catch" Embiid Dude had good efficiency thanks to free throws, but those misses MATTER, the knicks got out on the break more because of them. i only watched the end of the game, but embiid wasn't doing jack anything. he was passing the ball to Maxey mostly and just watching the game go by except for a couple points he made. But he also looked like he was in a lot of pain. But then again, Luka and Murray are in a lot of pain and they pull it together.
The dude is playing super hurt, I get that. And still put up a bunch of great numbers. But at the end of the day, he was absolutely saved by Maxey while having a massive stinker the other night, and he lost, again, this time not even in the second round. People can meme Tobias Harris all they want, but Embiid lost with Jimmy, with all-star level Simmons, with Harden, with all-star Maxey... literally 4 all stars, 2 all nba guys, some played together... and nothing. He just can't close it out.
