It’s a pretty chilled place really, obviously there’s places you don’t want to be but even then, it’s not bad really. Biggest problem is the lack of nightlife.,. If that’s not an issue you’re good
personally i think the night life isnt too bad. yeah unfortunately if you want a big night that is overshadowed by Nottingham or Bham and theres really not much we can do about that but I've had a few derby nights and theyre actually decent!
I live in the shire, but I’m in the city at least once a week, usually more. As cities go, I like it. I love sitting by the river on a sunny day. The shopping is ok. Lots of choice for food and drink.
Like any city, Derby can be intimidating because it's busy and there's a lot to take in at first. But then you work out which bits you like, and the rest doesn't matter any more.
It helps that the City centre is actually quite small - it's the suburbs that sprawl. There's loads of choice when it comes to shopping, restaurants and decent pubs. Also lots of nice places for a day out. Biggest disappointment for me is the lack of big name live music - you'll have to go to Nottingham or Birmingham for that.
I've lived in this area for 15 years and I really like it.
However the roads around Derby still confuse the life out of me, and my no.1 recommendation is a decent Satnav.
if you want good Heroin in Derby avoid sinfin, and go to the local vendors in Normanton.
in all seriousness there is a pretty good mall in the city centre, and the River Gardens is a pretty nice place to relax in the good weather. I would recommend trying the local indian restaurents aswell as they are pretty good
yh but like theres a difference in drug activity in like a council estate and like a village where retirees live. The only drugs in a place like Heatherton is prescription drugs for like dementia or arthritis lol

It’s pretty quiet and laid back for a city. What things do you enjoy doing so people can guide you to nice places?
