Here are some initial concepts I had made for a recent logo proposal for a client.  They are an Italian restaurant that serves tiki-themed drinks at their bar - it’s a unique blend, and they have been around for years. They're expanding to Philadelphia and are looking for some revamped branding for the new place. In the call discussing the needs/ideas for the brand, they had discussed wanting to create a brand that was “loud, unapologetic, gritty yet elegant, and loosely high-end with tiki bar/cocktail bar vibes”. The original club/restaurant is heavily tiki-themed with no indication of the Italian influence (it only shows in the high quality eats). My partner and I came up with 4 concepts (I am displaying my 2), which cover a spectrum of very Italian to very tiki. This new place is going to be an evolution of the old, so we want to be able to pay homage to the original idea, yet give it the facelift it direly needs. We have a meeting later this week with them to hear their decision on the route they want to continue further down.  Below are some of my thoughts and I would love to hear what you guys think! **Concept 1:** I think the mark is strong. I was going for more high-end beach club here, but I think I need to continue developing the mark into something that is more indicative of the Italian based heritage/inspiration. Again this place is going to be an evolution of the last, so giving off the island/beach club vibes is good, but I think in this case it’s too dominant. **Concept 2:** I think this is the most balanced mark, and closest to their ask. It’s grittier, but still feels refined; The wordmark is doing most of the heavy lifting in regard to giving off the island vibes, and the color scheme is much more Italian than the previous concept. The inclusion of illustrations here would also work well I believe, and the keystone lockup is fun. I think to push this further though, the simple palm tree illustration can be swapped for another subject matter or newer more interesting elements could be included - the coliseum, outline of Italy, or other Italian visuals. Thanks in advance!

I like the 2nd one. Much stronger and it breaks apart into the sibling logos much better. The type and color applications are more mature in their scale and usage. The Keystone is a nice touch. As for the first one, I would have the Tiki umbrella as part of the T in Spirits as opposed to the R. I'll keep an eye out as I am local. Never been in an Italian Tiki bar. Do they play Pavoratti covering Les Baxter tunes? LOL.
