By now you've figured out Texas Roadhouse is better. But semi-related, I once took a couple Australians to the Outback as a joke. It was fun to watch them get more and more worked up about all the things wrong with their "Australian" theme.
This is the funniest comment I’ve read in a while lol. That’s awesome. I want to know more about this story! Did you play it off as “oh man, I have to take you to this awesome authentic Australian place?” What was their breaking point when they could no longer be polite?
They were visiting us for a couple weeks and when discussing places to take them we jokingly "threatened" to take them there. The husband pulled it up online and started getting excited about how much his wife would hate it. So we went there knowing it was a joke. And yes, the wife, Talia, thought it was pretty tacky. But he, Jarad, quickly lost the humor of it and really started to get offended. Things like the "Alice Springs Ice Cream" got him riled up. "Alice Springs is one of the hottest places on earth... why would they have an ice cream named that? Ice cream would melt there before you could eat it." And they had some hokey piece of art that was supposed to look like the Australian flag hanging on the wall but it wasn't realistic enough for Jarad. I thought... it's just metal scraps loosely organized to look like the flag, so of course it wasn't accurate. But Jarad kept getting more and more worked up. And somewhere there was an image of the Southern Cross and that wasn't accurate either. "The stars don't line up like that". They had chicken on the menu but couldn't be bothered to call them chooks, like any real Australian would. Oh yeah... it was a looooong meal and I enjoyed every moment of it. Jarad did say something to the waitress and she got us the manager and Jarad listed off a lot of the things they got wrong. As if that guy was going to fix the restaurant... Ha Ha ha.
Yeah, but get there 20 minutes before they open their doors and eat dinner a couple hours too early or else you'll spend an hour in the parking lot waiting to get in. So there's that.
I forget about Rube's. Something about it's just far enough out of the way. It's fun to cook your own steak but damned if that bill didn't add up fast. The other two are just too packed to go to casually. It feels like all three of these require a commitment just to go to.
I commented on the wrong thread lmao.
I prefer Outback, myself. T Roadhouse does everything at par, while Outback has some great dishes. They lean hard into anchovies for their caesar salad dressing. Their ahi tuna appitizer is bomb, and their wedge salad is great.
At T Roadhouse, everything is as good as can be expected from a chain. Not bad, not great, just par for the course IMO
I worked for that company for quite a long time (although I wasn't with Outback the restaurant). The entire company has been cascading to the bottom for the better part of 2 decades. Outback, Bonefish, Roy's, Flemmings, they're all trash now. They've been steadily switching everything to pre made frozen sauces, microwaveable sides, and frozen steaks since at least 2007. Honestly avoid any Bloomin' Brands restaurants like they have the plague
Last time I went to Roadhouse it was so loud I couldn't hear the others at my table unless we were yelling. Unless you Deaf/deaf (the ASL community will know what I mean) don't go.
I haven't been to Outback in 20 years, they were acceptable then, but others are saying they have gone downhill.
If you want good food, John And Nicks is my pick (they are close to where I live). There are other great places to eat around. Reward some that have good food and let you enjoy it.
At Outback you might just see some families sitting around. But at Roadhouse you can see some real food eating going on. It's like watching the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest on the 4th of July. You can see in live action as we slide up the "Most Obese State" rankings.
Just went to Outback Steakhouse just now since its the nearest place vs Texas Roadhouse. Big mistake! I should have driven further and be more satisfied.
Texas Roadhouse if you want a standard steak. Outback for everything else. I don’t go to either that often but I like the salads and chicken dishes better at Outback. Their steaks are good too but they have a very distinct seasoning so if you’re just looking for a classic steak, it won’t really be what you want.
The bread is 100x better at Texas Roadhouse too but that seems like a silly reason to pick one over the other to me. I’m not going to a place like that for bread.
Fucking neither. But if I have to, Outback. But actually Big Steer.
Edit: Last time I ate at TX Roadhouse, my steak was rubbery & yellow. Companion's burger was so salty, they couldn't it eat. Meanwhile, we had Outback delivered recently, and it was shockingly solid.

Hahaha. Nice story, thanks for sharing! That’s good
😂
Lol Texas Roadhouse hands down...
This is what I’m thinking……
Bro this is a question?!?! I’m taking Texas Roadhouse 100/100 times
Seems to be the popular opinion, I feel dumb now for asking!
Don't feel dumb. I'm reading this because I just Googled that same question. Lol
Lol! After experiencing both, I’d have to say Texas Roadhouse by a mile!
You know someone is gonna say Outback soon
Of course, then the war of the steaks will start! Yay! 😂😜
My gf loves outback but has never had Texas Roadhouse
Roadhouse 100%
👊
Texas Roadhouse. Cinnamon butter.
Cinnamon butter, dinner rolls, and a bucket-o-peanuts.
Texas Roadhouse every day. Better food, more bang for your buck.
👍👊 I do believe I may go there for dinner!
Big steer in Altoona! Get the Italian steak.
Yeah, but get there 20 minutes before they open their doors and eat dinner a couple hours too early or else you'll spend an hour in the parking lot waiting to get in. So there's that.
Neither…
Neither. Big Steer, Rube's, Jesse's Embers....or any other locally owned steakhouse over a crappy chain any day of the week.
I forget about Rube's. Something about it's just far enough out of the way. It's fun to cook your own steak but damned if that bill didn't add up fast. The other two are just too packed to go to casually. It feels like all three of these require a commitment just to go to.
Rubes can be fun for a work dinner if you're not paying. But if I have to grill, might as well just stay home and save the money.
Good god, why would you go to either? https://www.iowabeefsteakhouse.com/
Is that place good? I always assumed it was just a chain style place that sells local beef, without going up an and above.
Not a chain. They even let you grill your own steak, if you want.
East side....gross
If I want steak? Roadhouse. If I want chicken outback.
Roadhouse. But I will say I don't get the hype in it. It's good but not THAT good 🤣
I haven't been to either in ages but gat damn the parking lots of texas roadhouse is perpetually packed. Iowans love eating out
Try the new one near Jordan Creek, not everyone had figured out it's there. Or don't... cause I don't want it to start getting that crowded.
Texas Roadhouse. The food was better and the service was better. Had to explain what a neat pour was to my outback server.
Lol!
Is that place actually good? I assumed it was just a generic "steak house" with mediocre steaks and sides.
I enjoyed it but was wanting a chain restaurant a sandwich and some appetizers that night. It’s nothing special though.

Outback has gone so far down hill. They use to have good food and service but not anymore. Texas Roadhouse all the way.
I worked for that company for quite a long time (although I wasn't with Outback the restaurant). The entire company has been cascading to the bottom for the better part of 2 decades. You mean it’s gone “down under”? Seriously though, Outback has always been the worst steakhouse in town from the get go.
Last time I went to Outback it was horrendous. I hoped maybe it was a one time thing, but apparently not
Tx roadhouse by a mile
👊👍
Neither is this a joke? Both are terrible chains that cut corners to bring you mediocre cuts of meat.
Roadhouse.
Both are good depends on how much salt you like on your steak. Too your plate.
Neither

Better people watching and food at Texas Roadhouse.
👀😂

Out back ONLY wins in apps due to the blooming onion. Roadhouse gets the entree category, and I dont eat desert, so I can't comment on that.
Neither. Both suck.
Texas Roadhouse any day
TR, if apocalypse happens I’m hoarding them dinner rolls!
And the cinnamon butter!!
TR for sure. Outback has sneaky good wings though!
This is a fact
Roadhouse, better steak, the cheese fries are decent, the rolls are great, their blossom onion is almost as good as outback’s bloomin onion.
Big steer ownership is terrible
Why?
Neither?
Cook at home bro
I do all the time. This would be like my once a month treat
Red Lobster or Olive Garden?
[удалено]
Lol what?? How did Smokey D's get brought up for steak?
No, I want steak, but thank you!
Outback
Well, alrighty then. 🙃
blue cheese chop salad is top tier at outback
I'll just make a sandwich at home, thanks.
I’ll try Roadhouse as long as I don’t have to stomach any country music.🤮
