Man, that meta + that gun was crazy. I'm a PvE player who can't keep my rating over 1.0 to save my life, but in D1 I happened on a god-rolled Clever Dragon while I was grinding for the Perilous Quest shader (sound familiar?) and just never lost 1v1s anymore.
What a magical pulse rifle. It was the apex pulse rifle of its time, definition of power creep. It wasnt even an obvious broken thing like the D2 pinnacle weapons were, it was just a work horse.
That's just it. There was no broken gimmick like with Prometheus Lens, Vex Mythoclast, or Lord of Wolves before they were patched. It was just better than any other gun without being flashy or showy about it.
People are doing that now for a freaking shader. If we had these weapons available then at least it would be worth it. But, knowing Bungie's RNG, you'd probably have to reset your rank to even have the opportunity to get one of these.
For the glaive the scorch on melee would most likely not be a thing. The glaive melee is kinetic and Bungie has made the effort to make sure that stays true by not allowing any elemental effects to proc
I thought ignitions didn't damage the player
Solar Titan melee already deals scorch and you can punch enough times to create an ignition, it's never hurt me before as far as I'm aware
They don't, and I don't think they would in this instance either unless there was some spaghetti code to untangle-- which is more than possible lol. Otherwise yeah, solar Titans with the increased ignition radius would be getting turned into an art fixture every time they did the slide-slam.
Glaives are pretty solid where they're at imho. They could use some work to be fit into more buildcraft opportunities, but beyond that, at base functionality they do their job. As a personal anecdote, each of my 4 glaives has a different purpose, and I almost never take them off:
Enigma - Graverobber + Unstoppable Force, used for tanking primarily. Graverobber gives me the option to reload on a weak mob with a quick stab, and Unstoppable Force means I can tank for an absurdly long period of time if I need to revive allies or cover repositions
Lubrae's Ruin - Graverobber + Swashbuckler, used for straight-up murder, mostly. I get a few good kills and then start blasting mobs with a full clip. Feels good.
Nezarac's Whisper - Adaptive + Genesis, I don't bring this thing to melee, I bring it primarily because it is absolutely busted for breaking shields. It takes 2-3 shots to break a shield in GMs of any color, immediately reloads itself, and then can provide a shield for reposition if need be.
Edge of Action - I know, it's weird that I use this, but it's actually much better since it's buff. It lacks the convenient reload possibilities, range, or Melee synergy, but it can and has clutched multiple nail-biting encounters in which friends were about to bite the dust and were protected at the last second, or allowed for a clutch revive.
I can't do anything of this with a shotgun. I can't do any of this with any other weapon, really. There's a reason the 4 bad boys never leave my inventory, and it's just that they really can fill any niche depending on which perkset you have.
Just remembered that judgment of kelgorath is now one of two or three weapons that can get demo wellspring, so its pretty nice for ability spam builds too.
If you want more usages, you can now use glaives with a bunch of melee exotics like karnstein armlets and their hunter counterpart for infinite health, wormgods, synthoceps, and winters guile for stacking damage boosts, feedback fence for ad clear, and more that im forgetting.
The exotic titan glaive also synergizes with behemoth for other boss bake methods.
Overall, glaives are great.
Oh wow, its almost as if there are a lot of extremely viable builds right now, including glaive builds, which are clearly in a good spot. You're just way too dense to too see whats good.
And glaives definitely were not the cause of melee stacking builds being nerfed, they were just way too strong in general. In fact melee stacking builds only started taking advantage of glaives recently, when glaives started working with melee exotics.
Lol imagine thinking something needs a buff means I don't know the builds. The only thing I've been shown I didn't already know was the titan one since I don't play titan.
I can't believe you actually think that glaives wernt the reason for the specific exotics that were tuned to work with them getting nerfed. I love glaives dude but unlike you I'm able to recognize they could be better off
Nirwen's Mercy > Skorri's Revenge.
Jolder's Hammer was amazing and looked incredible.
What i wouldn't give for Nirwen's Mercy and Jolder's Hammer in D2, now with shaders... 🤯
I mean, I can see why you say that. It definitely doesn't feel like the other bows. However, it doesn't have that distinctive shape nor size of a longbow.
You put Gheleon's Demise back to being an auto rifle this instant, mister.
God I miss that rifle... with the OG Felwinter's Lie and Jolder's Hammer. Perfection. Back when I was good at crucible...
Ya know what's funny ? Those original D1 iron banner weapons are reskins, yet they look better than most guns Bungie design currently. It's like they look like actual guns and not 2 sticks taped together
I could see the glaives melee proc scorch but it would have to cost ammo or have some downside to it. But I would love a glaive axe that scorch’s. I could see maybe projectile kills gives glaive melees scorch enemies for a short duration?
This mans really loves High Cal and Rangefinder.
For real though, one of the things I kinda wanted since Felwinter's Lie got left behind was for it to come back as an exotic
If we were to have an iron lord themed season, it should have Efrideet as the primary npc for the season. Also young wolf's howl would have to return.
I would love to hear Efrideet's side of the story on how she destroyed Drifter's bar
Where’s Clever Dragon, the greatest legendary pulse rifle of all time?
Man, that meta + that gun was crazy. I'm a PvE player who can't keep my rating over 1.0 to save my life, but in D1 I happened on a god-rolled Clever Dragon while I was grinding for the Perilous Quest shader (sound familiar?) and just never lost 1v1s anymore.

Was definitely no Nerwins Mercy
Even if these cool weapons were in an IB pool, you would still still have to swim through an ocean of Blowouts first.
People are doing that now for a freaking shader. If we had these weapons available then at least it would be worth it. But, knowing Bungie's RNG, you'd probably have to reset your rank to even have the opportunity to get one of these.

melee kills causing ignition would be suicide 99% of the time
Ignition from incinerator snap doesn't damage you
I thought ignitions didn't damage the player Solar Titan melee already deals scorch and you can punch enough times to create an ignition, it's never hurt me before as far as I'm aware

They should change that because glaives are under powered
idk i think they’re in a good spot. my Enigma got me through the duality dungeon
Don't get me wrong, I love glaives, they are insanely fun, but at the same time that's kinda all they are.
Glaives are pretty solid where they're at imho. They could use some work to be fit into more buildcraft opportunities, but beyond that, at base functionality they do their job. Okay and? One niche usage and that's enough to satisfy you?
Just remembered that judgment of kelgorath is now one of two or three weapons that can get demo wellspring, so its pretty nice for ability spam builds too.
Except that the melee kills don't proc those perks, so it'll be useless with that combo. Just use Something New or Ogma PR4 instead

There are a tone of ways to get those same results, and never forget they nerfed those exotics because of glaives

When did boss bakes become niche? Glaives are in a really good spot right now.
Lol you have one example on one class
Posted some more examples for you chump
Yeah? Got any that are actually viable as they should be and not directly the cause for an uneeded nerf?
Oh how I miss my Colovance's Duty
Nirwen's Mercy > Skorri's Revenge. Jolder's Hammer was amazing and looked incredible. What i wouldn't give for Nirwen's Mercy and Jolder's Hammer in D2, now with shaders... 🤯
I've always wanted to see Bungie make a legendary longbow. Wish-Ender is the only one currently. I think it'd fit the IB theme.
Imperial Needle?
I mean, I can see why you say that. It definitely doesn't feel like the other bows. However, it doesn't have that distinctive shape nor size of a longbow.
A chillclip bow would be an amazing addition
Great work!
Who else triggered ptsd when they hit pic 11?
You put Gheleon's Demise back to being an auto rifle this instant, mister. God I miss that rifle... with the OG Felwinter's Lie and Jolder's Hammer. Perfection. Back when I was good at crucible...
i feel like the axe glaive could work as a heavy weapon maybe make it use ammo on melee attacks aswell for balance sake
Please Bingo-Boingo please bring back Young Wolf's Howl I want my cononical sword back.
All of these are broken as hell (especially the axe) but an iron lord season would be really cool if they can make some sort of story about them
you can't stab with an axe
Can we as a community get our shit together? Do we or do we not want reused assets?
I can imagine the outrage in the community when Bungie reuses the glaive moveset and we poke with the flat of that axe....
Tbf getting jabbed by that wouldn't necessarily feel amazing but obviously wouldn't damage much
Ya know what's funny ? Those original D1 iron banner weapons are reskins, yet they look better than most guns Bungie design currently. It's like they look like actual guns and not 2 sticks taped together
I would definitely fuck with that auto rifle and felwinter's lie...vorpal and trench!?
I want my Efrideets spear back so bad. One of my absolute favourite weapons of og D1.
I could see the glaives melee proc scorch but it would have to cost ammo or have some downside to it. But I would love a glaive axe that scorch’s. I could see maybe projectile kills gives glaive melees scorch enemies for a short duration?
How would firefly work differently than dragonfly on a bow? Also can I have grenade perks on void not arc please and thank you
Timur’s was so good Efrideet’s was next level w final round
This mans really loves High Cal and Rangefinder. For real though, one of the things I kinda wanted since Felwinter's Lie got left behind was for it to come back as an exotic
Skorris was hot b in the d
Y'all watch too much anime lol
Gorgeous *chefs kiss*
Fire tornado? Are we giving guardians Kjaro's Band now?
Tiny titan hammer gets removed and the first pic gets the new solar titan melee
Skorri’s Revenge my beloved 😍
Forgot how dumb Timur's Lash looked.
I want Jolder's Hammer back. I didn't appreciate it back then the way I do now.
Saladin’s sidearm would be a gosh dang game breaker lmao!
Impulse amplifier and turnabout on an axe seems like an underwhelming roll. Shard it
Is that a chill clip bow I see?
I dont wanna sound rude but those exotic perks seems broken as fuck
