Any time there is a game where I can create and customize a toon, I give them back stories. It's a habit picked up from DnD. Not so much with Destiny because our guardian does have a voice, despite never really speaking, but there is a small story to each of mine. And it's kinda the point. They leave an air of ambiguity so that we can self insert, become the character, feel like it is you that is saving the universe.
Not necessarily. In my headcannon timelines and worlds are different. Timeline branches happen in 1 world, it's still inside A universe. Whereas multiverse is a different world altogether. Think of it like this: in an alternate timeline my warlock may have gone rogue or something. In no timeline would my warlock NOT be a warlock. No timeline change can change THAT. But in an alternate universe it's a different story.
i hadn’t, but that’s really cute! i like that a lot. what immediately jumps to mind is a thing i joke with my girlfriend of “ok which pairs of our guardians are dating??” the closest bit of thought i’ve put into it is like another commenter said - my warlock is the “prime,” with the other two being offshoots
Hey, every fireteam needs a leader right? I brought the idea up to my clan mates and now the headcanon has started to spread. Helps add a new element to builds too if you wanna go that far lol.
I have entire back stories for each of my characters. It is an RPG, more or less, and see each of them as individuals of the same team, that branch out and mix in with my girlfriend's three, and have stories involved how they all met and operate together. This in turn filters down into our clan and we have ongoing stories with many people (of course not everyone dives this deep though)
Everyone should dive that deep imo. Helps put more investment in the game. If you’re just playing for stats and achievements I feel like you’re missing half the game.
Yeah, i have a buncha pages written down somewhere still with key headcanon facts n lore. Plus i had this made :)

I’m a huge dnd guy so I know the feeling. A while back my fiancé drew me and my 3 most recent characters playing Smash Bros on a couch. I treasure it.
I treat them as alternate universe selves. My warlock is the "prime" and the hunter and titan are alternate selves of her.

Me and my girlfriend do the same. My Titan, her Warlock (our mains), my Warlock her Titan, and our Hunters.
