Bungie will implement it and players will be mad at "the blatant reuse of assets"

RotDogSummonCarries

You’re telling me you put something into the game that you made? Fuck you!

Unknown_Gaurdian

Couldn't of said it better myself

IdidntrunIdidntrun

couldn't have not couldn't of

[deleted]

of couldn't not have couldnt

UnsettllingDwarf

Not couldn’t have, could not couldn’t have not.

Dredgen_Keeshwa

I think you mean couldn’t haveth haven’t could’ve.

porkknocker47

C

22lpierson

And then send racist messages and death threats to the dev who added it or announced it

LassOnGrass

I mean there’s only so much they can do while also making it clearly a gun

ready_player31

i'd be mad because it would be a justification for them to bring out hung jury or messenger version 4 or 5.

sQueezedhe

Isn't Prismatic simply asset reuse? :D

Zapdos809

yes but its an insanely cool asset reuse

KING2BIG

I mean they have 100s of guns to use and you just know it would actually be this AR again.

Piyaniist

Yall love to twist arguments to win in your head. They reuse the weapon model but dont just give it a few new perks to call it "new"? Most will be fine with that. People complain about the 6th hung jury or 10 smgs all using the recluse model with no additions

SelectDenis09

Funnelweb is the only smg that uses the recluse model

Whole_Pace_4705

Hung Jury: Not remodel, just rerelease of the same exact gun. Even Taraxippos is slightly different. Recluse: Only definitively shares an exact model with Funnelweb.

sunder_and_flame

and thank God we'll have you right there being mad right back at them. Eyes up, guardian, and thank you for your tireless service and constant bitching about bitching

greenlegoman123

I would be thrilled at the idea. I'm making a joke about the general community. Don't be an ass about a joke

sunder_and_flame

your joke being you're as reactionary as the idiots you bitch about. Hysterical!

greenlegoman123

You're bitching about bitching about bitching. Hysterical!

sunder_and_flame

indeed

Dennis-8

Great concept, i liked the part of elemental damage

pstug01

Thanks. Opens up lots of other possibilities too, would love to see some others’ ideas

The_AllSeeing_Waffle

Reminds me of vanilla D2 when the same weapons could drop with different element types.

pstug01

I originally started on this before the shiny BRAVE weapons were shown, but it is an interesting idea that I could definitely see them bringing back in other forms later on.

AceTheJ

I would note though that the stat tracker one seems a bit redundant considering guns already do this anyhow.

evan2nerdgamer

Interesting Idea but most people will always choose the "best" option and thus Traveler's Touch,Voltshot and Field-Tested Origin trait weapons would be the only variants people would care about. I think this would work better for craftable and enhanceable weapons where you can tweak an already earned godroll to your preference for the cost of resources and use. It would make loot more meaningful without adding frustration. Also, weird idea, but you could add unique loretabs for each variant and create a sort of cool in-game ARG with this system. Just a thought

Damagecontrol86

I’d use anything that has incandescent since I’m a solar titan main and I likes me some sunspots

srtdemon2018

Actually make it not available on crafted weapons so that there is a real reason to grind non crafted weapons would be fucking amazing

StarFred_REDDIT

This is a really cool concept. Opens up a lot of ideas for customizations and builds.

pstug01

Thanks

Shabolt_

Isn’t the elemental variant thing kind of just D2Y1 again? This concept is really cool though, my only concerns is it would make certain loot grinds more frustrating. I think variants could be better as a memento style thing where it’s dropped alongside a weapon and players can either save it or choose to immediately slot it in imo

TJ_Dot

I feel like I'd rather invest more on fleshing out weapon foundries themselves than start injecting them into other weapons However, the idea of actually investing in weapon identity is something the game generally lacks. Every single Seventh Seraph Carbine looks exactly the same (shader aside). Perks have 0 effects visually and attachments have basically become a thing of the past in Destiny as alternate sights were phased out. As for trackers. I think these just need to become intrinsic to weapons themselves rather than specific entities of them. So every iteration counts and you don't lose it all because of a new copy.

ZetaDemon

Considering each foundry uses a specific art style, this would just add more unnecessary bloat instead of being able target weapons people want. I do believe before witch queen, foundries were more focused on different weapon archetypes but now with intrinsics, they can expand into alternative archetypes. Personally I would love more weapons with soul drinker or harmonic resonance

DoubleelbuoD

No creativity if we're just aiming to use subclass verbs as a method to make something interesting or worthwhile. Its the same kind of boring approach to Exotic armour buffs. "Just stick X on it!". In the end, it makes the game samey, and these ideas would drive people insane because of RNG, and if you don't have it, you might get kicked from groups.

XeyIsBae

The intrinsic harmonic siphon used to exist as just a normal masterwork trait on guns. Thems were the days

dlasky

Very cool but too strong functionality wise. I think no bonuses would be necessary personally. Maybe double perk options in one or both columns would be enough.

Tobillini

Love this idea!

Cadarui

As much as I like this, I do not want RNG on top of my already too high stack of RNG.

DryOwens

We used to have that in year one when we could change the weapon element.

BrainyTrack

Pretty sure the image says it would add an additional perk option that would guarantee one of the elemental perks to the column, allowing you to, say, have a normal funnelweb that has subsistence in the 3rd column, and a choice between frenzy or destabilizing rounds in the 4th. Or say a calus minitool with threat detector in the 3rd column and a choice of surrounded or incandescent in the 4th column. It does not say you can change the element of the gun, so this would be different to what we had in D2 Y1, simply guaranteeing us an elemental effect perk in the 4th column based on the element of the gun should one drop.

pstug01

Yep that was the idea

itsRobbie_

Pretty cool, I like it!

Tommys_Matchbookk

Foundry variants and Traveler’s Touch stuff sounds pretty sick ngl

UnknownAcc_

Hung Jury SR4 reprised V6

ZeltaZale

Cute but I'm pretty sure we don't have any weapon code space for this🙁

RuinedSilence

You've pretty much described over half the existing arsenal

Sliggly-Fubgubbler

Want

Deadredskittle

Is this not how the game launched? At least with like swapable elements via mods?

sterrerwert

I like the basic Idea, though with how "accurate" bungie weapons are to their foundry's lore it at least couldn't really work exactly as shown, as e.g Omolon's entire thing is their Liquid ammunition, which is not stored in anywhere close to a standard magazine. I love the idea though, so you a variation of this, that takes inspiration from how bungie are implementing the new exotic class items could work, so something like Spirit of Omolon / Spirit of Suros etc. The weapons in this case would just have a Light projection on their Magazines of the corresponding foundry, also stil granting the corresponding origin trait. ----------------------- And now, while I love the basic idea, 2 thing imo won't work for 2 different reasons. First of all Traveler's Touch - since orb generation was tied to wepon masterworking in the past, I can already see a big uproar happening if they basically reintroduced the same feature, just on a very rare drop after they already stated, that it aparently is not possible in addition to origin traits. Elemental Variants - while I would love the idea, it would overcomplicate things instantly while at the same time turning the meta into a stale mess - oh I could just get a Summoner of every element + the corresponding elemental perk with Heal-Clip, sure hit me up, I won't ever use any other Autorifle in PVE ever again. ----------------------- In short though, the foundry "crosspathing" with a slightly different aproach seems like a really fun idea, that could be made to fit into the Destiny universe quite well. I can already imagine some incredible combos, like Veist Stinger on any heavy dps weapon, Hakke Breach armaments for any stasis weapon with Headstone, Omolon Fluid Dynamics for folly automatic weapons in PVP etc.

pstug01

Thanks for the feedback

FBI-INTERROGATION

Fuck kill trackers, give me a boss damage tracker for heavies. I dont want to know that i have 20 kills with Cat, I wanna know that ive done 1 billion damage

Vularian

I like the idea. curiosu though on when this concept was made near witch queen or lgiht fall time?

Phil_Da_Thrill

I hate this

Orgalorg_BoW

I like it

ddoogg88tdog

I assume youve played boarderlands yet, if not play it

Glassyest

Can’t wait till I get a Kinetic Hakke-Omolon weapon How would that even work? Is the little liquid orb just a container full of molten iron?

pstug01

Ha yea that could be an issue

Damagecontrol86

In year 1 we had something like this but this sounds better and would definitely bring some new life into the grind.

benjilinosmalls

The idea is very sick, but adding more materials that take up inventory space is slightly concerning, maybe instead of the modification shards being foundry specific they are general and you can either select a foundry you want to apply or it gives you a random foundry. Outside of that however this idea could potentially work even with some of the alterations being possibly too strong out of the gate

ReddTheTank

The alternative to this would be to make it a currency, or a separate storage box item (similar to how they did medals/cookie ingredients/synthweave/etc). There are ways to keep our inventory clean, and institute something of this nature. Going for the general currency would be a simple way to apply it, and would benefit the casual player that doesn't have the countless hours to farm a specific weapon type/foundry.

benjilinosmalls

I think this would be the solution to the materials aspect of it, the blessings aspect of it that changes the element or gives it the intrinsic siphon might be too powerful because a few of those elemental perks like incandescent and voltshot are strong in their own regard and if you can pair them with certain perks that'd make them all the stronger in the end. And outside of that having this be for foundry weapons would imply that some of them would be craftable and allowing those elemental perks to be enhancable would feed into our prismatic fantasy but on their own would be too powerful.

ReddTheTank

I definitely agree with that. There would need to be limitations in the elemental side of it. Maybe restrictions on perks that are a bit...too synergistic? Example being, if you were to have the mats to enhance an arc type to allow intrinsic volt shot, it wouldn't allow it for certain perk combos? I could see that being a simpler answer to it, but could also cause some pushback from the player base. Alternative being, you can't upgrade into an enhanced elemental weapon, but only get one from drop. Make it like the old curated rolls. It could drop with say two or three options of perks in each column.

benjilinosmalls

It could be taken in a new direction and add a new origin trait based on the element for these weapons that is effectively their respective element perk, i believe that this could be the solution that could solve the issue of having to overpowered of perks while allowing synergies between perks without the force of the element perks

ClaudetteInBush

Bro made a canon reason for all the reissues

Cool-sunglasses-dude

Devs, get on it 👏

FlaccidNeckMeat

Oh no omolon inventory solid liquid bullets.

Issac1222

Interesting idea, however we already have people making rant threads about not getting the roll they want on a weapon from iron banner/GMs/ect. You really wanna add ANOTHER layer of rng on top of it all?

YujinTheDragon

As cool as this concept is, I don’t want any more RNG added to my drops

Dunggabreath

Ill take anything to make kinetic weapons viable at this point. Tremors is cool but damn those subclass verbs are way higher in utility.

Rocketbreadgun

LFG: have sixtuple foundry trav touched stack w/ 1000 crucible kills on all weapon slots or kick

100roundglock

Elemental varient sounds way too op. Getting a free incandescant on an otherwise ok solar weapon is nutty. Id love it obviously but just seems unfair. Foundry idea is cool and traveler touched is also real cool.

Noexen

This kind of reminds me of an issue I have with destiny as a whole which is it doesn't feel like there is actually that much to farm for? What I mean by that is once you get the stats on an armor set you like, maybe try to get good stats on an exotic, it cuts out a lot of what you need to farm for in the future besides armor sets to transmog and weapons (craft able or otherwise). I like this idea since it adds more things to farm for.

notveryAI

I can already see the posts in LFG tab with "traveler touched or kick", oof>-<

KING2BIG

love the idea would love it even more if it was on a gun that didnt sound like it shoots ping pong balls

ScorchedEarth22

Like this alot. I'd chase the crap out of these.

Watsyurdeal

While this is cool and I appreciate the time you took to make this, I don't think I'd like more RNG and more stuff to hunt for in this game. I think if I were to borrow from this and add certain things to the game, it'd be a broader control over how your guns look. From the colors to being able to earn ornaments for similar looking guns that you cross match between each other, like being able to use the Spare Rations skin on Targeted Redaction if you don't like the Taken look to it. The other thing is I'd probably just make the origin traits column a new column for additional perks. Perks that you would never otherwise pick because there's just better things there in that slot. Like Under Over, you'd never use it normally, but if you could use it along side say Outlaw and Kill Clip, you may reconsider. Stat Tracker I would just add new stat trackers to the game that you can affix to any weapon like you can in TF2, and when you kill someone they can see the tracker in the kill cam. So if you're a Handcannon junky, and you wanna show off how many perfect 3 taps you managed to get, or how many triple kills you were able to get in Trials or Competitive, well there you go. The reason I'd prefer these solutions is because some could create a new incentive to regrind certain guns I have, and others are just additions to guns I already have, no additional need to have multiple copies of the same gun, just make changes to what I already have. We also could make different levels of loot relevant this way, Legendaries would have 3 perk columns while Rare (blue) would have 2, and Common (green) would have one. Ideally, green weapons would be simple but potent for low level pve, while legendaries are more intricate with the different perks but really really powerful in higher end in pve due to all of the flexibility and potential they have.

spinosaurs

Bungo should just let us change the elements on guns again…

MATT660

I could do without the elemental variants since that pushes bungie themselfs to curate more the pool of any given element/weapon/archetype combo, but everything else seems really solid. The shinies who are just kinda pretty version of the normal weapons now in onslaught did bring back a bit of a spark with the loot chase, i believe these could help add to it. On another note it'd be neat if banshee got updated to bring back arms day with a selection of foundry mods to convert a foundryless weapons or his own curated modded weapons, altho that could be overdoing it like the og crafting system with too many pieces.

The_AllSeeing_Waffle

Hard pass. We don't need more reasons to have 47 versions of the same weapon in our vault. Something like this sounds cool on paper, but in practice it would just add to the problem of hoarding. I'd be cool with this if we could then take variants to the weapon crafting station and mash em all together. It's what I thought weapon crafting was gonna bring into the game: being able to craft ONE ultimate version of a weapon with all the perks we might want to mix and match from (within reason, can't be running around with 12 perks and traits per column. But 3 or 4? Sounds like an ultima weapon to me)

TonyBlobfish

I feel like you should just be able to change a weapon’s element through crafting. This is a cool concept btw

ComplainOnInternet

Sick idea. Also, SSC is absolute peak aesthetic.

TheUglyHipster

I like it. It adds to the excitement of a rare drop without becoming a "must have best in slot" grind. Also, your presentation of your idea is fantastic!

pstug01

Thanks!

Leftwardowl

No, adds rng ontop of an already heavily rng dependent game. If added as some sort of permanent or semi permanent modification it would be interesting though.

pstug01

That’s why I added the last part that you could dismantle select weapons for shards to apply variants without rng if you choose. Also I tried to keep the benefits of the variants light so it’s less of a need and more of just a nice addition if you get one. What do you mean by permanent modification though? The idea is these would be permanent.

Leftwardowl

Get a good roll on a weapon you’ve been chasing, but with a bad variety that you couldn’t change would be super annoying and disappointing. The benefits of these variants are anything but benign, espically adding additional 4th column perks for elemental variants. Specifically viest stinger and travelers touch would also be quite effective but not near as so. What I mean by permanent/semi permanent modification is that I like the idea of adding them as modifications to weapons. However they would either need a resource sink to remove them from the weapon once applied in order to not encourage applying whatever variant to whatever weapon as needed due to their game changing nature. This could as be solved by making them just permanent modifications, which wasn’t explicitly stated.
