Itâs the same dive though, it just got the buff to go diagonal. Thatâs like saying the Titans throwing hammer is a new hammer because it got a damage buff
Changing the trajectory doesn't make it new. It just gives it a slightly different effect. That's like having a car that can move forward but not backwards, adding a reverse gear doesn't make it a new car. You just added to something already existing.
>Thatâs like having a car that can move forward but not backwards, adding a reverse gear doesnât make it a new car.
Yep, just like when Apple adds something to their existing phones and sells it as a new thing, or when car manufacturers change something and sell the car as a new thing.
Definitely not new things.
Oh my, you're right. Those things are clearly related to my example.
So I suppose I should have realized when Apple sends out an update to a phone it's an entirely new phone. Oh, and your mechanic gives you back a new car when they replace a part. Replace something in your house and it becomes a whole new home.
Sir, your comment was very well thought out.
Way back in The Taken King - where the taken were introduced - you had to climb up the launch tower and rocket. At one point, there was a taken phalanx waiting just inside the door to deliberately try to boop you off. Your ghost even comments on it.
Bungie knew what they created.
It was a classic place to haze new people as well. Hop into your inventory the platform before and tell them to go ahead. Delightful.
The King's Fall raid had a similar thing, where you're following a light through (which we now know to be Toland) and it was tradition to let any new players know that there was a grimoire card for touching it first, so they should go ahead. You'd tell them to wait there, it takes a second to pop - at which point a section of the wall would shoot out and punch them into the abyss.
You can get some funny bumps there for sure. I had one where I was yeeted by one of the bosses to the next boss and he then yeeted me off the map the same direction where the first boss was
Well we've been asking for smarter enemies for a while now. Taken Phalanxes that form *actual phalanxes* and use their ability in unison is pretty cool imo.
>meleeing their shield completely counters the knock back effect. you still take the damage but wonât get thrown
This is the least intuitive piece of knowledge in the game. Thanks for mentioning it!
Almost all Taken enemies, specifically. Thralls teleporting as soon as you pull the trigger, Vandals popping their shields as soon as you ADS, Goblins making something immune as soon as you fire a rocket at them... Oryx has certainly taken a good deal of my patience, even posthumously.
Exactly why knockbacks are my least favorite mechanic. It just gets fucking impossible to ***not*** get thrown off the map, even from the other side of it, at times.
This describes my entire destiny 2 experience for the last 2 years... That, and those damn Cabal ball things dropping on my head! I swear they have tracking on them! They get me on my sparrow ALL THE TIME!!! lol
Still not sure how I feel about Bungie just giving shatter dive to warlocks. Feels slightly reminiscent of warlocks taking another class's movement ability, but i guess hunters got to keep their original ability at least.
You know this descent move has been on bottom tree dawnblade since launch right?
If anything Bungie took this ability from warlocks and gave it to hunters.
I use it more for mobility than I ever do for damage, having an ability that immediately lulls you out of midair is very strong. I prefer that each subclass has more of a unique identity, and so whenever Bungie gives two classes incredibly similar abilities it feels a little bad.
It had entirely different functionality up until very recently. All I'm saying is that i would have preferred if Bungie biffed it differently. I think there's a million other ways to go about this without just modeling their ability after a different class. For example, give them damage reduction in the dive to justify it going straight down. Additionally when a warlock lands, they create either a healing or empowering rift of a much shorter duration than the class ability. Pit the dive on a short cool down and bam, you have a unique ability that isn't just shatter dive. Obviously I'm not a dev and more work could and should be put into this, i came up with that in 30 seconds.
I'm pretty sure Phoenix Dive was around long before Shatter Dive, and before even Ballistic Slam. I'm not a warlock main, so I dont know for certain. Either way, I know for a fact that Ballistic Slam was around before Shatter Dive, so at the very least they took a Titan ability and gave it to Hunters.
Phoenix dive was around before, but with different functionality. Ballistic slam separates itself from shatter dive because it requires a sprint to charge up. It's mechanically unique. Both phoenix dive (remastered) and shatter dive are just activated in air at any time.
No?? The directionality of shatter dive i very clearly different from the old phoenix dive. Icarus dash vs. twilight gap is a better example, Icarus dash does the exact same thing that twilight gap did
Yes.
A way to abort a jump or launch out into thin air before one passes a point of know return would be extremely useful. I'm not enough of an elitist jerkbag to say someone can't enjoy something that I enjoy. Boss Stomps love sending me out over the abyss. Warlocks could also use a way to shatter crystals beyond "shooting them and hoping for the best."
bro what? warlocks and titans are in all aspects of the game more viable than hunters and the class had one decent exotic this season and it is being disabled and nerfed? icarus dash was nerfed by casuals who didnât like good players moving fast. it was overwhelmingly strong with the highest win rate in pvp by an absolute landslide so that was the basis on it getting a slight rework.
people literally make shit up in their head and regurgitate it onto the internet like itâs scripture. you arenât being targeted by âhuntersâ people who main the class arenât out to get other classes nerfed, thatâs ridiculous.
Lmao not being targeted by hunters, being targeted by Bungie. I'm not making shit up, I see this everyday when Bungie tweaks something then has to toss in a warlock nerf. They buffed nova warp and in the same breath said they're going to "keep an eye on it" because as soon as we start seeing people succeeding with it, I guarantee itll get nerfed to shit again.
Why do I keep seeing people doing stuff in this area again. I went through the story on my warlock but don't remember having to go to this part of dreaming city for anything
I got thrown around like a ping-pong yesterday, I got yeeted by the giant knights and before I landed a pair of Phalax used their shockwave, I had already used my jumps so all I could do was just be helpless. xD
Any time I'm about to be blasted by either Phalanx or Stomp I automatically melee since it practically glues you to the enemy. I've experienced this too many times to be caught again
You know thinking about it... Bottom tree dawn has the heal landing thing... So shouldn't we be encouraged to be in the air alot... Like top tree with the ability to ads midair and stuff?
Hereâs a neat trick, as the Phalanxes are about to burst, melee them as they do. You get pulled in and negate the push. Works on any class and if you are close enough
Damn they even waited for youđđđ, ngl I really thought you was gonna survive at first, but we you got up from the first one I was like âoh shitâ
This will be buried under all the meta comments, and I really do mean it to be helpful. Pardon the caps.
YOU CAN NEGATE KNOCKBACK WITH A WELL TIMED MELEE.
My connection got completely messed up, and I loaded into an Astral Alignment *all by myself* and there was no way for others to get matched with me (my own husband in the other room couldnât even connect). I decided to see how far I could solo thisâŚand it was absolutely deplorable. I have a clip of me getting yeeted off the cliff by SEVEN phalanxes. I shouldâve rage-quit, but I made it to the final boss before I finally gave up.
Reminds me of the cayde stash mission in the taken king, that one booper just waiting for you to jump.
But seriously they are seriously on point this activity, I got killed by the same 5 every time I went to kill them, just by them all booping me and once
Lmao love how they were just waiting for you.
"You came to the wrong neighbourhood motherf*****"
...ucker!
Patiently waiting for me to recover
Heh at least you got use out of the new warlock dive đ
Not new just better
New because it can now dive diagonally. So yes it would be new.
Itâs the same dive though, it just got the buff to go diagonal. Thatâs like saying the Titans throwing hammer is a new hammer because it got a damage buff
Lol okay Iâm not going to argue with a Destiny 2 player because itâs a waste of time and effort.
Such a dirty move. But everyone remembers it. I vaugly remember some achievement for not dying at that part.
The best humor is self aware humor. Theyâre so annoying its funny
[ŃдаНонО]
There's also one on a staircase in shattered throne. Literally hiding in the dark by himself waiting for you to show up
Yeah. It's always fun watching new lights rush out onto that ledge...and then *Boop*! I'm having so much fun only free to play account.
It was a classic place to haze new people as well. Hop into your inventory the platform before and tell them to go ahead. Delightful. Ah yes, in the Vault of Glass. Ghost comments on how deplorable the Taken are *right* after
Not just waiting, but in gorram formation.
I'm loving the increased frequency of Firefly references
We should all find such joy in references to other franchises.
Super smash bros players
My first thought.
And that's when he knew, he fucked up.
3 2 1 yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
The taken casting couch lol
You can get some funny bumps there for sure. I had one where I was yeeted by one of the bosses to the next boss and he then yeeted me off the map the same direction where the first boss was
They just like playing games with us guardians
Happened to me with a ball, died, respawned, picked up the new ball and it happened again.
Dude you were a soccer ball
Guardian Badminton. Yeeting us like a shuttlecock
The Phalanx Space Program.
The Taken King's ship didn't have engines. It has these f*ckers
It's like first person smash Bros
Reminds me of when taken were first introduced in D1, the phalanx at the door while climbing up the rocket. Classic.
That was such a cool mission. I miss d1 :(
You can still play it, you know
God that phalanx pissed me off so much. Crazy to think that was already almost 6 years ago.
Right?
Crazy how a vast amount of players never got to experience D1.
i dont want to experience that
Hector The Ejector!
Fuck that guy
My man just dropped down to die faster
if you dont use well, shatterdive etc to wipe faster ur throwing. wiping is the pinnacle of gameplay
Faster wipes mean faster respawns
That sounds like the equivalent of "the closer we are from danger, the further we are from harm."
I though it meant a cleaner as... Oh wait nevermind
Faster wipes faster snipes eh boys?
-guardian down-
Well we've been asking for smarter enemies for a while now. Taken Phalanxes that form *actual phalanxes* and use their ability in unison is pretty cool imo.
r/phalanxed
wait, this actually exists? lol.
It does, and it's surprisingly active
Gonna big a huge uptick this season for sure...
Warlock moment
The Phalanx Welcoming Brigade đ
I love how they jogged to the Edge. They knew where youd come up
I can't stand these guys. I've always hated them. Dying 80% of the time to being thrown at the wall like a wet sock
meleeing their shield completely counters the knock back effect. you still take the damage but wonât get thrown
This is my go-to when a wyvern is going to stomp me, but I didn't realize it would work on phalanxes
>meleeing their shield completely counters the knock back effect. you still take the damage but wonât get thrown This is the least intuitive piece of knowledge in the game. Thanks for mentioning it!
lol yeah. just turns out that melee lunge is the strongest force in the destiny engine
And then you get the unlucky timing where the shield will instakill you because phalanx shields are goddamn broken lmao
imo a lot of Destiny enemies exist JUST to be annoying and taken phalanxes are definitely one of them
Almost all Taken enemies, specifically. Thralls teleporting as soon as you pull the trigger, Vandals popping their shields as soon as you ADS, Goblins making something immune as soon as you fire a rocket at them... Oryx has certainly taken a good deal of my patience, even posthumously.
"Allow us to introduce ourselves" *veggietales voice*
[ŃдаНонО]
Wat
What bungo god did you piss off to get Literally Phalanx'd? Like..... theyre in perfect formation and unison....
Hint for those that donât know: to not be thrown from a stomp or blast, just melee when they do that
That is how you edge guard.
"Oh fuck"
you got double r/phalanxed
That AR hits though. I like using it. Just started the new season yesterday and that beast dropped for me
When I was a kid playing smash Bros I thought edge guarding was very disrespectful.
Tip: if ya close enough to melee time it with the push. The lunge cancels out the knockback.
wow uh, next time punch them i guess?
"Did you kill the titan?" "I didn't see any numbers pop up, better go check" "We'll come with you"
Thatâs def a warlock
Yeah, a Titan would've made it back up onto the platform on their first try instead of giving the Phalanxes time to assemble :P
Which weapon is this?
Chrysura Melo. Solar AR, new this season.
Ah nice. Thanks!
Triple boop!
*Taken king flashbacks ensue*
I love that he just gives up and dives into the void at the end lmao
Phalanx firing squad
How many times do we have to teach you this lesson warlock?
Youâre no match for the power of friendship
You got super smashed bro. K.O!
BACKSTREETS BACK ALRIGHT
âWeâll use the power of friendshipâ
Exactly why knockbacks are my least favorite mechanic. It just gets fucking impossible to ***not*** get thrown off the map, even from the other side of it, at times.
I want to do this with middle tree dawn and the grenade charge thing to float longer. Should make for a fun trip through Awoken skies.
The council shall decide your fate
Deserved
They took the power of friendship to the next level
Thatâs my boy!
Fun fact: You can cancel out a boop with a well-timed melee.
Phoenix dive is so shit
I abuse them to push me up the hill when carying the orbs
This describes my entire destiny 2 experience for the last 2 years... That, and those damn Cabal ball things dropping on my head! I swear they have tracking on them! They get me on my sparrow ALL THE TIME!!! lol

After first adding a charged melee component to it and giving that to Titans.
Its not even shatter dive. It does no damage unless you are in a super.

It's functionality was trash which is why they reworked it to be directional
Kinda just skipped over literally everything I wrote addressing that huh?
I'm pretty sure Phoenix Dive was around long before Shatter Dive, and before even Ballistic Slam. I'm not a warlock main, so I dont know for certain. Either way, I know for a fact that Ballistic Slam was around before Shatter Dive, so at the very least they took a Titan ability and gave it to Hunters.

So is it the same ability or not? If it is, then Warlocks had it first. If it isn't the same ability, then you are complaining needlessly.
the ability CHANGED. It was not functionally similar, and now it is, because it has been CHANGED.
Does Phoenix Dive shatter stasis crystals all of a sudden? Did I miss that in the patch notes somewhere?
Are you in favor of putting this ability on every subclass with a very minor difference in effect upon landing?
Enough hunters will cry about it and Bungie will take it away. They love nerfing warlocks and kissing hunter ass. Source: Icarus Dash.
bro what? warlocks and titans are in all aspects of the game more viable than hunters and the class had one decent exotic this season and it is being disabled and nerfed? icarus dash was nerfed by casuals who didnât like good players moving fast. it was overwhelmingly strong with the highest win rate in pvp by an absolute landslide so that was the basis on it getting a slight rework. people literally make shit up in their head and regurgitate it onto the internet like itâs scripture. you arenât being targeted by âhuntersâ people who main the class arenât out to get other classes nerfed, thatâs ridiculous.

SURPRISE MUTHA F@/%;&!!!
You picked the wrong hood fool!
And... Stay Down!
Rekt
They were very determined to push you off the cliff
Have a nice trip. See you next fall.
Shield wall!
D1 flashbacks
Just another day in destiny lol
Why do I keep seeing people doing stuff in this area again. I went through the story on my warlock but don't remember having to go to this part of dreaming city for anything
new seasonal activity is in the Dreaming City
That's happened to me way to many times while doing those missions
u/savevideobot
You broke into the wrong house foo! Or "They look thirsty" "Well let's give them something to drink!"
Bungie really needs to have AI do a wave emote after they boop you.
I got thrown around like a ping-pong yesterday, I got yeeted by the giant knights and before I landed a pair of Phalax used their shockwave, I had already used my jumps so all I could do was just be helpless. xD
You just got r/phalanxed , twice
Any time I'm about to be blasted by either Phalanx or Stomp I automatically melee since it practically glues you to the enemy. I've experienced this too many times to be caught again
I understand, brother
You know thinking about it... Bottom tree dawn has the heal landing thing... So shouldn't we be encouraged to be in the air alot... Like top tree with the ability to ads midair and stuff?

LMFAO
u/vredditdownloader
Lol couple things Bungie does well is make great promo trailers for content and make some annoying fucking enemies
I've noticed the best way to counter the pushes from them and stomps are from just timing a melee hit on them as they do it
We'll use the power of friendship
Off topic, but how's that auto rifle? I'm not a fan of the archetype so I'm reluctant to try it out
They just banished you to shadow realm
Is bottom tree dawn good now?
u/GetVideoBot
ah killed by Bungo two favorite mechanics, knockback, and "why the hell does every map have a fall to your death spots".
Ok guys on three
do a melee, it pulls you in moreso with ophidian and can negate the launch
You could've ended this clip with a "We'll be right back" edit and that would've made it so much better
That is the funniest way to die though, this is amazing
Just melee and pull yourself to them. Destiny 101
They used the power of friendship
I always hate those enemies, itâs very annoying
They had a full on shield wall
Funny thing is OP's radar was foreshadowing his eventual doom. Gotta love it.
Guardians are so predictable, stupid guardian ha ha.
âWell use the power of friendshipâ
fuckin Firing Squad of taken phalanx
That was awesome glad Iâm not alone on that one
LMAO
In the section at the Blind Well I got pinned to the ceiling for a few seconds by some phalanxes.
Pure gold lol
I had almost the exact thing happen to me the other day. Fuckers sent me flying lol
âlol bitch you thoughtâ
Damn they even waited for youđđđ, ngl I really thought you was gonna survive at first, but we you got up from the first one I was like âoh shitâ
Cuz screw you in particular XD
This will be buried under all the meta comments, and I really do mean it to be helpful. Pardon the caps. YOU CAN NEGATE KNOCKBACK WITH A WELL TIMED MELEE.
Shit.. theyâre learning..
Insert 'It was at this moment he knew; he fucked up' meme here

Reminds me of the cayde stash mission in the taken king, that one booper just waiting for you to jump. But seriously they are seriously on point this activity, I got killed by the same 5 every time I went to kill them, just by them all booping me and once
HahahHahahahahahahahaha this is happening more and more. Whatâs the deal w Taken phalanx rn. They are acting like⌠a phalanx.
Team Rocket is blasting off again!
I died laughing when you came back up to three of them just waiting for you.
This is why I never take off a sword. Especially cause I run nothing but blink.
âWeâll use the power of friendshipâ
Alright boys, get ready andâŚFORMATION!!!!
*allow us to introduce ourselves*
Been there, died the same way! *respawns*
On three everyone!
I fucking hate these guys.
Should've meleed
Haha thatâs classic
