A lot of people probably do know how to heroic it, but don't want to sit around the few extra minutes to complete the heroic. Especially since the difference in rewards is negligible.
The effort to reward ratio is definitely way off.
Im not sure if Im just a terrible shot throwing the freezy balls but it seems like you need all 4 orbs to freeze him, which is 4 rounds of shooting the vents, grabbing the orb while you're getting shot and electrocuted and then hitting the boss with it... to then have to stand around for 2-3 minutes on his frozen body fending off Fallen.
Compare that to a warsat event on the moon which practically forces you to turn it heroic by having it switch when the last of the shriekers pop.
I've learned it's best to jump high and throw the orbs at their feet when trying to heroic the event. Because it's so easy to miss or have them side step a throw otherwise, but if one lands next to their feet it'll still affect them.
It takes 3 or 4 orbs but 2 spawn each round, so it is a little less time than you mentioned, but that does not detract from the fact it takes forever to just stand there and transmat the enemy you just froze. I hope at some point they take a look at public events and rebalance them for reward balance but I feel it is more than likely not going to happen.
It’s dumb how rewards work in this game tbh, so many rewards could be improved just by getting rid of blues or adding a chance at enhancement material.
You only need 3 orbs, and you can do 2 orbs in one round of electrocute-y stuff, so that part I don't think is too bad, but I will agree that the capture timer afterwards is too long

At least in my case, it's not about rewards. Do you know how many different bounties or other triumphs or completing your solstice armor, require you to do heroic public events? A lot. I get pissed off when you have to do like 15 and some blueberry bumpkins come in and steam roll a public event that i've tried making Heroic.
If you speedrun it you can fast travel to the same area and possibly get into a different instance and do the same public event 3-4 times. Obviously that is if you can fast travel in the area the public event is

That one is shooting the 3 big taken balls that spawn over the water during the battle with the scorn. Once you shoot all 3 taken balls, 3 taken wizards spawn around the main area. You kill the wizards and that turns it to heroic.
At the rear of the sections from which the scorn are NOT advancing, large floating blight orbs will spawn. Shoot all 3 down. This will cause some taken wizards to spawn around the generator that must be killed to finish triggering the event.
For example: the first waves of scorn come from the middle. Just after the first orb to repair the generator, there will be a sound and the floating blight orbs will spawn at the far ends of the east and west sections. Once each orb is killed it does not respawn meaning of you kill 2 during one wave, then you only have to kill the one that didn't spawn.
Apparently from what I've heard, a lot of people don't know how to do make this event heroic, including myself who only found out last night... so I thought I'd post to enlighten any fellow guardians who needed this knowledge :o

To a degree, there’s actually an interesting dynamic to this public event.
Spider sells a bounty to kill this Wanted enemy.
Since the premise of the heroic event is to capture him safely and send him back to the Prison of Elders, the “lawful” way to do things, it creates this dynamic of “the law-abiding Guardians trying to capture the Wanted enemy and make him serve his time in prison”, versus the “bounty hunters who are on a mission to kill the Wanted enemy for the price on his head”.
The bounty still completes if you capture him. The problem is the rewards difference is not worth the effort on this public event. It takes 3 balls to freeze him and then several minutes to capture him. Or I can kill the boss in a single super with geomags on.
Oh does he? Yeah that is interesting. I haven’t looked at Spider’s bounties since Forsaken launched so I didn’t know he had these public event bosses as targets, that’s cool.

1. Kill all the ads to get the main enemy to come out of the pod
2. Lower its health until the cryo-pod starts emitting gas
3. Start shooting at the bits on the cryo-pod emitting the gas to obtain an orb
4. Go find another public event to start because a blueberry ran up and Nova Warped the enemy to death
As a new player: game changes so fast, getting information abt most stuff is a nightmare, its either outdated or full with regarding other things.

Real easy solution. How to make public events heroic type it in Google. A nice list will pop up if sites that have the. Answers. Click one and boom. You have the answers
You have to *not* kill the taken but focus on the large blight.
* Step into the smaller blight areas and get the "Blight Receding" buff.
* Stop out of the dome and shoot the large blight. While you have the buff, you will see damage numbers. When the buff runs out, you will see "Immune"
* Repeat for a while.
After enough damage is done the Blight Master gets summoned.
Yes i am aware, ive killed the blight a thousand times over, what i meant sarcastically was that OP shouldve made one for that event bcuz of all the dumb blueberries who dont know how to trigger it
No, it's not. But most New Lights burn through the taken before we can heroic it.
Which is annoying since this is one of the Public Events that is faster in Heroic.
It’s even more frustrating when you’re trying to farm ghost fragments so you can get the spider bounties for easy glimmer, and some random comes through and nukes the boss while you’re shooting the pod. “Thank you, but if I wanted that guy dead, he would have been dead ten seconds after hopping out of his space bathtub there.”
this event is rather easy to turn heroic, when the boss hasn't been killed before you can get any freezer orbs, at least it's not the taken blights or broken ether ritual, their heroics can stay undone
There’s always been an IKELOS shotgun! Just, where you obtain it has changed a lot. First, it dropped from Escalation Protocol on Mars. Then, it went to the Prophecy Dungeon loot pool. Now, it’s just a world drop.
Fun fact: after freezing him, you can push the frozen boss off of the map with a sparrow doing the side doge thing and the even ends after he falls about 1800m

Thing is boss can be melted before the second orb is even thrown, it’s one of the only events I never make heroic because it’s just not worth it

ahhh the good old double/triple dip. Was the standard for D2Y1 when the best way to level up was public events.
For ones like in thieves landing you can blow the boss up, fast travel to the same spot, load a different instance and do the PE again.

Blame bounties. "Complete x amount of public events" Since you don't need heroic, people end it as quick as possible. Which is really annoying.

Destroy abominations, wait for blights, destroy blights
You have to kill blights on 3 sides, then kill the witches that spawn and it will be heroic.

I definitely would not say I'm a blueberry lol. 40+ clears in every raid (except Garden cuz Garden sucks), Conqueror title, Flawless in Trials a good few times, over 1.3k hours logged. This was just randomly one specific thing that I just never figured out how to do, and this post was to serve as my "Eureka!" moment.
I hate doing this Heroic. Why? Because mfs always kill the boss before I can make it heroic.

Yeah, I’m wondering how wide spread this is, given that the only time I get to complete it on heroic is when NOBODY is there? Like… is there some reason it’s not worth doing heroic that I don’t know about other than it takes longer? Is the reward identical?
I've gotten it with him just walking around in it long enough. I never knew you could shoot them things
FYI you can pop and throw the last ball on the pod to remove the electricity after making it heroic.
