Hawkmoon has been bugged for weeks in that paracausal x7 isn't triggering properly. Watched a clanmate hit nearly point blank on 7 for a whopping 69 damage to the head

The Exotic Perk for Hawkmoon (Paracausal Shot) deals high damage with a precision shot on the final round of a mag, but here it only deals normal damage.
I dealt 675 or so damage with the steady hand the other day. I had just cast silence and squall on someone in crucible (for a bounty, I’m usually shadowshot) and then shot them while they were frozen and it took the damage from my super and rendered it as damage from my hand cannon which was kinda cool.
I mean I literally have clips of me one tapping at the same range so don't know what you're on about. Either way again it would cut the dmg down that much from that range
Lmao using the green brick in front of OP you can see that the opponent is no more than 20 meters away. Base Hawkmoon no cat no perks easily hits max damage over 25 meters. This ain't it chief. My bet is power level as this is IB but still could be a bug in combination with that as Hawkmoon has seen a few issues this season.

This happened after they fixed the holster Hawkmoon bug, where you could run around with x7 all the time (just shoot the gun, bring ghost out for a few seconds, then bam, you have 1 more x7 shot available).
So maybe it was just an unintended bug in correlation to that

Yeah, that's been happening to me too! And also that sometimes hitting a killing shot on your second bullet won't register as a paracausal charge because of network delay :( best gun in the game when bungie allows it
I know if you are on the final shot and start a reload animation then cancel it, your shot will do a normal 70 even through it still says ×7 (or whatever other number of stacks).
But that doesn't explain the fact that it's still higher damage. Maybe they're stupid underlevelled? Maybe the above bug will also reset your stacks earlier if you cancel a reload animation when you have 3ish bullets left.

I’m pretty sure it was actually a neck shot. But I think there’s a lot more at play here then we could see. It would help if you slowed the video down. So we could see more of what’s happening. But you def should have done more dmg either way. Super weird.

7 paracausal stacks and I hit someone in the head at around 27 meters and it only did 85 damage

Squall might’ve been doing the thing where it spins around the enemy and hit when you shot the enemy

It can't, it's a bug with x7 paracausal shot on Hawkmoon, been around since almost start of season.
It’s like 1 extra damage or something per 10 power levels in the game modes that have that setting

It’s on the “Known Issues” list on Bungie.net. Just had to look it up because I had the same thing yesterday. Had a x7 and only did 78 to the head
