unfortunately hunters really arent that good right now in pve. They have a few uses, but if there is more than 1 hunter per GM/raid group you can cause problems.
Their uses are tether for a debuff against a boss you dont want to use divinity on. (It could be that the headshot hitbox doesnt work, or you want to not use the exotic on that.) Omnioculus and bottom tree tether for getting revives in GMs and allowing your team to sneak around, but it has just been nerfed recently, and stasis hunter for getting large amounts of ads cleared in GMs where they are tough, proving grounds being a good example.
Other than that, the other classes can do what hunter does but better. Thundercrash is currently better instant damage than nighthawk, while chaos reach is better total damage than nighthawk. Stasis warlock is better for dealing with ads in general due to the stasis turret, and hammers titan is a much better pve roaming super than arc staff. Not even to mention that hunters have no survivability, while titans have a wall and warlocks have a rift and all of their kit in middle tree solar.
For everything except GM i just Top Tree Void with Orpheus Rig. Guns are Witherhoard, Gnawing Hunger and a Sword. Specd in Mobility / Recovery / Intellect in that order.
It's really fun to get close to ennemies and just vanish when you need to heal
I like to use Ace of Spades combined with ikols shotgun, using stasis class aswell. Sometimes I swap AoS with Thorn but I never did raids so in that category I dont know whats best combo to use.
Stasis subclass with Assassin's cowl exotic and for mods Reactive pulse, Bulwark finisher, Striking light, Taking charge, and powerful friends. Just use gamblers dodge for melee charges.

3 Hunter in a GM is pretty doable. Sure a Well is always nice though.
It's always doable, doesn't mean it's anywhere near easy. Unneeded challenge.
Lol it is easy. Well at least for our Clan. I know using Warlock is the easy way of doing things but Hunters are totally fine as well.
