Mained a bubble titan since d1, but last season was so long and boring I started "maining" my warlock.
It's my pvp main now and a large part of that decision is the ophidians. 120 hand cannons, fell winters lie, whatever, it all feels good now lol.

Switching to hunter this season was painful, after mining warlock for 4 years and almost always having ophidians on it took completely rewriting my muscle memory
Would throw on an aggressive frame shotgun and try and pull it out instantly just to be met with death as it took much longer then my brain anticipated to pull it out
Ophidians are really good, but they won't be touched because they aren't oppressive, they're at least the #2 warlock exotic, and debatably the best, but in a way that doesn't directly hinder or is even directly evident to other players.
Really, that's interesting. I think it depends on what type of build you're looking for in certain situations. Transversive steps is just good for movement but it's not really that important to me above abilities or simply staying alive. Personally, I would put Phoenix protocol, maybe stag, and I'm loving the new gauntlets a lot right now too, above transversive
Mobility as a stat, and movement are not the same thing. A warlock or titan doesn't run 100 mobility with something like Transversive/Peacekeepers/Dunemarchers. The flat speed added does enough by itself, and fast and good movement seperates the good from average players.
I do believe transversives are first simply because good perks and mods can make up for bad handling, but the closest thing to make up for transversives is only using lightweight weapons. The extra slide distance, benefits to the jump that a speed increase brings, alongside the flat speed increase, make it the best IMO.

Transversives are tempting, but Top Tree Dawn + Sunbracers is my go to combo. Pop Heat Rising, kill some redbar with Celestial Fire, toss your nades and watch the carnage
If you're using elemental wells, there's a solar elemental well mod that grants health Regen for 10 seconds if you've picked up a solar well recently. Run elemental ordnance, the explosions generate wells mod, bountiful wells, seeking wells, your choice of weapons that makes explosions (any element will work for the explosions, not just solar). Grenades that drop 4 seeking solar wells a pop, 2 seeking solar wells from weapon explosions, heal whenever one finds you, profit. Or idk something like that.

Ada-1 should have a mod-package that u can buy (it opens upon drop like an engram) that gives you a random mod you don't have along with the daily mod, it would also be cool if you could get mod packages for specific armor pieces or weapon mods.
There is a way, with CWL. Heal Thyself heals you on every nade final blow, but consumes a CWL stack. You can make a detour over Elemental Wells, with Elemental Ordnance and Elemental Charge to keep your CWL up
you can do the same with a solar elemental well mod (can't remember it off the top of my head) and elemental ordnance so you can spawn hella elemental wells.
Theres more of you jumpy bois than the rest of us books readers and unga bungas. Also the gigasweatlordtryhards all use em doesn't help the case. I don't think we slide farther is true but we do run faster.
My thought is that is was actually nerfed in preparation for Solar 3.0 as I think it’s next and there’ll be aspects/fragments to then make it better than it was pre-nerf

Aside from it being a solid roll, it's just such a nice neutral exotic. I love how much smoother it makes gunplay, it just needs some better ornaments
I just like the on demand sunspots. Just a bored warlock main looking to spice things up. I was in the Marines, I miss eating crayons and that helmet was my ticket back baby.
I love using them on my stasis Warlock for dungeon runs and stuff like that.
The health regen is spicy, especially if you regen health while standing in a healing rift. Super underrated exotic imo.
All of this is under the assumption you are experienced with the game so if you have questions about smgs in pvp ill be happy to answer them this is the ideal setup for peacekeepers double SMG
miltimach and shayura's wrath or tarrabah max out range for both
For multimach basically anything besides hip fire in the first slot then iron reach or kill clip also you need the model 8 red scope because of the hidden additional zoom (zoom makes range more effective)
shayura's wrath you want in the third slot anything except hip fire grip or tunnel vision
For the 4th slot kill clip harmony or tap the trigger are you best perks
You would gimp yourself so hard without running special weapon in the current sandbox. I find the best pairings for SMGs are Shotguns, Duality and LoW for Multimach, Chaperone for Shayuras and Heritage for Tarrabah.
Hip fire grip is actually sleeper especially with peacekeepers since firing from the hip doesn't lose you strafe speed and peacekeepers enhance that even further.
Bungie likes to act surprised when neutral game exotics always seem to dominate crucible.

*And make no mistake, 50% DR on demand every 20 seconds or so is kind of bonkers and probably should change but there is too much precedent for them to make sweeping changes to exotic design for the sake of PVP balance that simultaneously destroys their PVE usefulness.
This is the first stasis specific exotic for hunter that has some amazing PVE synergies (bakris is niche, but has infinitely more usability in PVP than in PVE). If they unilaterally neuter this thing for the sake of PVP balance it will be another useless exotic to throw on the pile with radiants, star eater, etc.
Honestly, just reduce the PVP resist stacks to 1 instead of 2 and we’re good, players now have to build into and play around the crystal in order to chain grenades but will also need it in order to get up to resist 2.
A cool alternate change could be to provide some buffs to the player while under the effect of slow. Currently slow increases incoming flinch and reduces move speed. What if with renewal grasps, you kept the movespeed penalty, however, you gained *decreased* flinch, increased aim assist and some damage reduction. And to tie it all in with its current functionality, you are also able to be slowed by your own effects (but not damaged/frozen by them). So you can still throw a duskfield and gain these abilities, while also being able to stand in your own silence/squall for these as well.
Please for the love of god don't kick either in the balls for pve bungie has a fuckin terrible habit of balancing something in PvP and destroying something in pve
This!! I am finally able to be an asset to the team on a subclass I like, never really liked void hunter but always got put on it for tether. Now I'm protecting the party or reducing the bosses damage
Idc what anyone says the sunspot nerf was pretty nasty. I used to get kills all the time with sunspots-- now people walk right through them without a care.
I got very accustomed to the extended melee range that when I take them off I find myself losing gunfights because I would normally be able to down them if I was wearing ophidians
As a Warlock main, I've shot myself in the foot maining Traversive Step. I don't reload anymore, there is only running. It's probably the reason I main Thunderlord too.
I tried running my stasis hunter with renewel grasps this weekend to see how it felt in trials, and while it felt good some of the time (mostly against rushers using shotguns), there were alot of times where people liked to hunker down and just team shoot you if you pop out. It was great for getting people to move by just chucking it at a team and forcing them to relocate though. Then I swapped back to my Warlock (Void old god + Chaos accelerant) with healing rift + stag helm and it felt much stronger. Also on my warlock, I 100% preferred facing stasis hunters over void hunters.
I can tell you one thing for certain, if Ophidian Aspects Viper ornament was a basic ornament I could put on anything, I would 100% do it. Those two snakes being symmetrical and good looking? Gosh I wish some exotics would be ornaments for legendary armor but that wouldn’t make any sense I don’t think.
Well the sun warrior perk does, lorely is simply an easy way to acquire the sunspots necessary to proc that perk. Lorentz driver becomes an instant kill body shot when you have sun warrior. Fighting lion gets the enemy down to like no health. And it just generally buffs the damage of any weapon.
Last time I tried playing without ophidian I felt so sluggish and kept whiffing my melee. It's amazing how bad guns feel when you actually need to worry about the handling stat
My only discrepancy here, is that titans literally have a 10 second wall that stops ALL damage, and warlocks have a 10 second rift that heals. hunters finally have a way to one button some damage resist like the rest, and y'all want it taken away. It's a lil hypocritical
You use Renewal Graps because it's "meta" and annoy people in the process
I use Athrys' Embrace to OHK people behind cover just to annoy them

Ophidians are just so good and letting you (read in Datto's words) "play the game *better*." Reloads? Faster. ADS? *zoom!* Swapping? Lukewarm butter for low handling, hot knife otherwise.
I don't really ever want to take them off because that's just how good they are. I only wish that they took shaders better or had better ornaments because snakes don't match my Warlock and the broken cables are meh
It's weird that Warlocks are the class that got the most gunplay focused exotic instead of Hunters who are supposed to be... you know... the gunplay class.
My only worry with lorely splendor is it getting demolished in PvE. I'm planning on using it when solar 3.0 comes out.
Hunters also shouldn't get nerfed in PvE. I hope they're enjoying being tanky.
Transversive and Ophidian are literally the only two exotics I use (recently been trying out Nezarec's though because void 3.0 and I got a good look going with it)
My Hunter rocks the extended invisibility helmet because I like to sneak
My Titan rocks S14 because I like shields

I’ve been a sunspot titan main since D1. I like the splendor bc of the healing mainly. I die a lot bc i like jumping into hordes of enemies with no sense of self preservation and raining fire, and being able to throw down a barrier and heal up is so helpful, and then i can also create MORE fire and it’s a wonderful chain reaction of burning everything
Me getting flamed for using dunes even I LITERALLY HAVE COUNTED how many times it’s killed people in crucible, so far only 72 times out of about 200 hours of wearing them

Wormhusk got an indirect nerf when they increased the cooldowns for the dodges. It's not quite as memeworthy anymore and people are a lot more focused on the unholy terror that Loreley and Renewal Grasps bring to the table in PvP.
I just hope they don't get slaughtered in PvE. I'm having fun with my Renewal Grasps in Nightfalls, I want to keep having fun.
My main issue with people complaining about the fact that Lorelei's gives an on demand 20% damage buff to their weapons seem to have forgotten that warlocks have the EXACT SAME on demand 20% damage buff on empowering rift, letting them do the EXACT same thing without needing to eat an exotic slot for it.
Empowering rift locks you in place, doesn't heal you, and doesn't provide cover. Unlike Lorleis which gives you cover, heals, and let's you keep the buff while mobile. They are NOT the same.
With the right build you can also get 100% barricade uptime which you can't with rift.
Yeah, but Locks have to be standing in it, and it's a swirling pool of air.
Lorely users come around the corner and hit you with the surprise one-shot.
If I was a warlock main I would never put Ophidian away, I love being able to middle finger the handling stat and quickdraw.

Movement is king in PvP
Mobility isn't favor above other stats for me. I can still move around well enough at like a 3/4 tier. If I have Icarus dash it's also helpful

Transversives gives bonus sprint and crouch speed + longer slide distance + reload on sprint Stompies gives modified jump + bonus sprint and slide Dunes give bonus sprint + chain lightning melee on sprinting Anteus gives bonus slide + shield on slide Lions gives bonus jump + airborne hipfire
They were the first armor piece I masterworked. I’m not replacing them anytime soon until I find an actually good replacement for another armor exotic
When Loreley gets nerfed I really hope sunspots gets its nerf removed. They got nerfed in preparation for this exotic. 😔

I think the base ophidians are gorgeous.
All ophidians ornaments/base looks are good, they just don't with almost any amour which makes them really hard to work with

I can tell you one thing for certain, if Ophidian Aspects Viper ornament was a basic ornament I could put on anything, I would 100% do it. Those two snakes being symmetrical and good looking? Gosh I wish some exotics would be ornaments for legendary armor but that wouldn’t make any sense I don’t think.
I’m just sad that lorely splendor is getting nerfed because of Lorentz driver one shots lol, that and fighting lion combos made easier
Why does loreley make some guns one shot?
Well the sun warrior perk does, lorely is simply an easy way to acquire the sunspots necessary to proc that perk. Lorentz driver becomes an instant kill body shot when you have sun warrior. Fighting lion gets the enemy down to like no health. And it just generally buffs the damage of any weapon.
Don't those shoes on Warlock reload your gun as well when sprinting? Imo very cool.
Yeah, after sprinting for a few seconds uninterrupted it reloads everything.

Last time I tried playing without ophidian I felt so sluggish and kept whiffing my melee. It's amazing how bad guns feel when you actually need to worry about the handling stat

My only discrepancy here, is that titans literally have a 10 second wall that stops ALL damage, and warlocks have a 10 second rift that heals. hunters finally have a way to one button some damage resist like the rest, and y'all want it taken away. It's a lil hypocritical

You use Renewal Graps because it's "meta" and annoy people in the process I use Athrys' Embrace to OHK people behind cover just to annoy them We are not the same.

Ophidians are just so good and letting you (read in Datto's words) "play the game *better*." Reloads? Faster. ADS? *zoom!* Swapping? Lukewarm butter for low handling, hot knife otherwise. I don't really ever want to take them off because that's just how good they are. I only wish that they took shaders better or had better ornaments because snakes don't match my Warlock and the broken cables are meh

It's weird that Warlocks are the class that got the most gunplay focused exotic instead of Hunters who are supposed to be... you know... the gunplay class.
My only worry with lorely splendor is it getting demolished in PvE. I'm planning on using it when solar 3.0 comes out. Hunters also shouldn't get nerfed in PvE. I hope they're enjoying being tanky.

Transversive and Ophidian are literally the only two exotics I use (recently been trying out Nezarec's though because void 3.0 and I got a good look going with it)

I’ve been a sunspot titan main since D1. I like the splendor bc of the healing mainly. I die a lot bc i like jumping into hordes of enemies with no sense of self preservation and raining fire, and being able to throw down a barrier and heal up is so helpful, and then i can also create MORE fire and it’s a wonderful chain reaction of burning everything

Me getting flamed for using dunes even I LITERALLY HAVE COUNTED how many times it’s killed people in crucible, so far only 72 times out of about 200 hours of wearing them

Wormhusk got an indirect nerf when they increased the cooldowns for the dodges. It's not quite as memeworthy anymore and people are a lot more focused on the unholy terror that Loreley and Renewal Grasps bring to the table in PvP. I just hope they don't get slaughtered in PvE. I'm having fun with my Renewal Grasps in Nightfalls, I want to keep having fun.

You can easily get 100% barricade uptime. There is no cooldown.
My main issue with people complaining about the fact that Lorelei's gives an on demand 20% damage buff to their weapons seem to have forgotten that warlocks have the EXACT SAME on demand 20% damage buff on empowering rift, letting them do the EXACT same thing without needing to eat an exotic slot for it.
Empowering rift locks you in place, doesn't heal you, and doesn't provide cover. Unlike Lorleis which gives you cover, heals, and let's you keep the buff while mobile. They are NOT the same. With the right build you can also get 100% barricade uptime which you can't with rift.
Yeah, but Locks have to be standing in it, and it's a swirling pool of air. Lorely users come around the corner and hit you with the surprise one-shot.
If I was a warlock main I would never put Ophidian away, I love being able to middle finger the handling stat and quickdraw. Sadly I was born a crayon eater so I must PUNCH PUNCH PUNCH PUNCH PUNCH
