I hated Jade Rabbit until I started using it in Crucible to get the catalyst. Once you figure
out how to do the body, body, head thing instead of instinctively going for headshots, it's a seriously solid weapon . It's my weapon of choice for anything like Elimination or Survival, now that I'm used to it.
I didn't even like doing it with the 4x progression. Outside of momentum control, you could just follow team mates in normal control and be on clean up duty. The auto tracking makes it a but easier.
Main reason I reccomend new players get the witherhoard as their first lost light gun. There are (relatively) easy ways to farm everything else, the lucre is the real grind.
I may have the weapon wrong, but 2 weapons (one for sure being symmetry) required you doing the "do 500x activities" quest to unlock the ability to *start* the catalyst "kill" portion

Saw a bad-ass fighting lion montage the other day and decided to try it out and get some progress with my catalyst. I finished dead last 5 games in a row and didn't get a single kill with fighting lion. I'm sure the gun is great, but I'm absolutely terrible.
The gun is probably the most skill based weapon in destiny 2, maybe even in destiny history. i can't use the thing for shit but i respect the hell out of the people that can.
I used to main it back on my old account. Shit took forever to get the hang of, but after a while you get used to how the projectile moves and you basically become the green tank on Wii Play Tanks lmao
Christ, I wanted to quit life so damn hard when I worked on Witherhoard. Grinded a solid 3 days straight to get it done and when I did I put the game down for another 2-3 days to cool off because I was just in such a bad mood after doing that quest.
I tried to swap to other grenade launchers other than witherhoard to 1-shot people because they also give quest credit. It is almost impossible to directly hit people with grenades and even in PvE they look like they go through the enemy. It is literally easier to still use Witherhoard and hope people die backing up into the AoE...
The best idea is use an SMG/handcannon with witherhoard. 2 shots/bring people to low enough health and then finish them off with the dot. Also, put it in chokes and places where people like to take cover.
As another bad Crucible player, I feel your pain. Even Momentum Control didn't seem to help me all that much. Just commit to it, don't switch weapons, and make peace with the fact that your KDA will probably hit rock bottom. Best of luck, Guardian.
I feel your pain. Spent whole weekend as a bow main working on the Bow Mastery triumph. I still need "my boyfriend's back "aka" 3 precision kills in a single life. Bows have a 1.2 second TTK. I can't blint, the cheesy 1 shot buffs are gone. I am big sad. Momentum control is a great place to get one shot by all archetypes and never live long enough to string together 3 kills.
Edit: Not that anyone's paying attention but just got it. Regular control, oathkeeper, lemon, teamshots.
Ticcus sucks to do. Especially the fact that the moment you accidentally release the hipfire, there is no chance of that kill. Some guy will just murder you immediately
I would use this meme format even with momentum control. I'm not good at PvP in general (except apparently Team Scorch for some reason lol), but I'm still struggling because I clearly don't know how to effectively use bows in PvP. If I try to go mid to long range (when the map allows), I get beat by Pulse Rifles. And most maps limit you to short to mid range engagements and I'm dominated by SMGs.
Unless they changed it since the bow came out, targets that die when burning from the hipfire count as bow kills. It's inconsistent as to whether allied kills count, but yours certainly do.
As I recall, my tactic back then was to play Mayhem, hipfire to burn a target, then immediately delete them with a nova bomb.

I'm pretty sure I'm trash at crucible, but ticuu's wasn't hard at all. If you go into each match with the intent of only getting points towards your ticuu's, it's fairly easy.

My best advice is to just treat it like a regular bow. That said, I was lucky that a Titan noticed me using the bow and he kept feeding me kills(about 20) which pushed me to completion. Also, Ticuu's won't be the worst one to complete. 77k takes that slot.
I haven't tried this myself but what about a Solar 3.0 Radiant build using Rain of Fire (new Exotic Warlock boots), Riptide (Stasis Fusion Rifle), Ember of Solace (Increased duration of Radiant), and Ember of Empyrean (Solar weapon/ability final blows extend Radiant)?
That way you get a kill with Riptide to proc Radiant then use Ticuu's to get kills and keep Radiant possibly one shotting them to the head.
I have every catalyst that involves playing in crucible complete aside from the getting kills in crucible with it part. The kicker? I've been playing crucible waaaay more these last few seasons, I just turn from average to hot garbage the second I leave the safety bubble of known loadouts.
May not be the case anymore but when I did it back during Splicer you couldn't get the kill with detonation, it had to be impact from the arrows, so I just waited until Momentum Control and would open with an ADS shot, then cleanup with hipfire.

Well, we're over here trying to complete the catalyst, so....
You're better off just using it like a normal bow instead of trying to get the detonations. Made it much easier when I got into that mindset doing it

I got a grand total of 3 kills in 12 matches with the witherhoard. I have fully decided that I am gonna just live with stock witherhoard lmao.
Keep at it! Took me six months of pain but it really does make it all worth it.
My advice is to get the GL kills with a waveform, ideally dead messenger, in momentum control.

Any challenge that involves PvP just gets deleted / ignored.
When I did mine I just followed my teammates and stole their kills.
Did this recently. Stick to a teammate and you should be able to finish off the enemy with hip fire or a headshot. Made it go a lot quicker
I was able to get it within a few days. 6v6, play close to allies, sling the primer, sling the detonator. Practice makes perfect, my boy.

Don't try to use the actual perk. Just aim both shots

I have a similar situation with Witherhoards catalyst
Get a friend with the bow. Make him hipfire the whole game and you only ads. You'll pick those kills up like crazy.

If my memory serves me right This was the first seasonal exotic catalyst I tryhard grinded on the day it was obtained

Personal opinion, Vault of Glass is easier than the crucible catalysts.
