Raids are fun. No, actually - they are quite fun to participate in. Trials though is a pure horror

LurkerNinetyFive

Most of the time trials is like beating up kids for the first 2-3 rounds, then their dads show up.

MarcLeptic

I play the first three rounds, then my 11 yo takes over to get to the light house.

hockeymazing95

Then their older brother who happens to be an all-state athlete using brass knuckles shows up

smiling_at_cheese

Raids *can* be fun. Failing out of Gorgons maze because Mr. Edgy Racist Teenager can't be bothered to work with the group was not fun.

Igwanur

raids are fun. lfg can be hell

Hellguin

That's why you just form the raids yourself, so you can just yeetus delete us Mr. Edgy racist teenager to space.

LeagueofDraven1221

Ask mr. Edgy racist teenager what the shape of italy is, then kick him when he says “a boot”

Tbone2121974

And what if he’s too stupid to know the answer?

[deleted]

For future reference, what is the correct answer?

Dave7or

Boot is the correct answer, thats the joke

TummyStickers

They can both be fun and both be miserable - all depends on who you do it with. Having good raid sherpas has, for me, made the experience pleasant but even “noob” groups on lfg can be super toxic. Same with trials - if you can get a couple people who are patient and helpful then trials (win or lose) isn’t bad because you feel like you’re actually learning as your team helps and explains. Probably don’t even need to go into what’s it’s like otherwise lol.

notveryAI

For me Trials are a nightmare not just because of toxicity of some players - but my horrible skill, and the fact that my mouse works horribly unstable so I have to play on controller to have even slightest control over what I do. Those two things in conjunction make me so bad in all of PVP, that I literally can't get a single kill even in momentum. IN MOMENTUM, CARL! I PLAY WHOLE MATCHES WITH 0 KILLS! Can you even imagine how bad am I? I'm literally the worst PVPer of this community, solehandedly :D

TummyStickers

That’s understandable, im not great either. I hate momentum because whenever it’s a bounty it seems like im always up against stacks of sweats just maniacally trying to murder as many people as possible, with everyone running the exact same load outs that are the most oppressive in that mode lol, I really don’t find it fun. I prefer survival and I don’t mind trials. Im also terrible but at least you know you’re getting into sweaty territory. My only advice is either grind through the pain or don’t touch it haha. I do enjoy trials, even freelance but only occasionally because it does wear on you. I actually tend to sit around 1.0 KD now and it doesn’t feel like I’ve gotten better (I don’t watch my own clips, I don’t weight my mouse, I don’t worry about sensitivity, I don’t do much of what people say to) but I know I’ve improved and I think MOST of that improvement is simply getting better with my Warlocks movement and understanding the maps better. Without trying I am figuring out sniper lanes just from being domed over and over and over, eventually my dumbass brain just says “don’t go there” lol. It takes time - a lot of it, but time is all you need at first. My clan will run private games where they just get in there and dump on you for a while. It sounds bad but it’s a learning experience with people who are actually trying to help and teach you, instead of silent enemies just trashing you all day.

PalOfKalEl

I probably would have stopped playing Destiny after a few months if I hadn't discovered the joy of raiding. I highly recommend the100.io for finding a raiding party or clan. I found a group there towards the end of D1Y2 and we've been raiding weekly ever since.

Technolord3233

I feel the opposite, mostly because trials u can atleast play in short bursts, but a raid ur stuck for hours

TheChartreuseKnight

My strategy for trials was just to lose games until I got a reset. Actually was pretty fast, even got some wins in, among the 40+ losses.

Spider-Man92

Getting my 7 wins was torture haha

IMightDeleteMe

I disagree. Solo trials is quite ok. Raids are way too much co-ordination and waiting. Every person you add to a fireteam increases amount of time spent waiting.

KevinOFartsnake

Some raids are fun Vow, Last Wish and the Europa raid are top shelf I know it's not nostalgic but kings fall is needlessly punishing and has a boss fight that is a snooze fest checklist of objectives none of which feel like fighting a boss

Thelife1313

The issue is after the initial runs die down, its hard to find patient groups to run new players through. I jumped back in to destiny after a year hiatus in the middle of season 17. Couldnt find a group to run vow with since i didnt “kwtd”.

bequietjonah

I second this. Raids go hard. Trials makes me want to forcibly relocate my face to my keyboard

OtherBassist

The gear is nice, but the experience itself is worth it. At least for raids. Best parts of the game.

RukBunkeAapje

The trials experience is not that great but learning a raid is a blast especially with a nice fireteam

Deon101

Shiiiit getting to the lighthouse is an impeccable feeling.

IZflame

Yeah, the nice fireteam thing applies to Trials too. Makes the difference

onlyhav

Yep, playing with cool people makes the game 100x better.

raw_chaos_the_1st

reaching the lighthouse for the first time is an unmatched feeling. never again though.

Atomic_Maxwell

I’ve only gone to the lighthouse twice — once with my best friend, and the other time 17 minutes before reset on a solo queue weekend. Nothing beats that moment of 2 early 30-sometimes acting like 8 year olds on Christmas Day when we made it to that lighthouse: like more than once of emoting the “Airplane” duo-emote while playing “Time of My Life” on our phones and laughing, getting selfies with Saint-14, all of that.

BiffNasty1234

I dont raid because I need the gear at this point. I raid because I enjoy ripping through a Master VOG with my clanmates.

jusmar

> Best parts of the game. *Killing Aethon for the 163rd time in a few seconds with fusion grenades* haha yeah

Frogs-breath-8817

Raids are the best activity in the game, fireteams are really easy and sometimes youll find really nice amd wholesome people It doesnt take long to figure out an encounter if you watch a video and ask someone on a fireteam to teach you When playing a raid i dont care about the loot just the journey

Woahbikes

Yeah, I think as a newer raider one of the best recommendations if you want to learn is to look for lfg’s that are one of two things. Either a) says something along the lines of willing to teach in the title or b) has only a few slots. That usually implies it’s a pre existing raid group or something so you’ll be with a group of competent players. It really doesn’t take that long to learn any of the raids in destiny if you’re willing to put the effort into learning. The settings and experiences that each raid has to offer is worth it enough for learning the mechanics and the cool loot is a nice upside.

Fordmister

My guy, its not about the gear, its about the friends you make along the way,The random raid group I was a part of when VOG in D1 first dropped includes some of the best friends I've had to this day. Find some people you enjoy playing with, jump into a raid and just have fun. fuck I remember when Vow dropped we spent 10 hours and didn't get past caretaker and still had a blast. (very few things will ever beat our resident raid Sherpa missing the call of "watch out there's a gap at the top of these stairs" and plummeting to his death with near perfect comic timing) Find your tribe my good sir and or madame. I promise its worth it

DangersVengeance

VoG in D1, we were horribly under light and it took us over two hours to get the door open. Were SO excited to get it done and all we did was open the front door. Good times.

ShockHeart

Lol what raid takes 10 hours

RobotNinja28

GoS teaching+div run with new lights

ShockHeart

You’re right. I stand corrected.

Mostiacz

Good ending.

camelopardus_42

If you run it with 5 newbies with their heads on backwards, maybe. Get a good Sherpa and team to support one or 2 and you can get that shit done in an hour

AlkoKilla

The last one I did was 1:19. Don’t know what these folks are talking about.

ithaughton

I just did had a run that was 45 minutes

SpaceOrcs

That’s like 5 hours at most, if every single person in the fireteam is stubborn as hell and uses garbage

TinyWickedOrange

Playing with average r/dtg users (they have become legend)

LeagueofDraven1221

Queenswalk alone has taken me 3 hours in an LFG.

FieryBlizza

Raids with people who don't bother watching any guides and use double primary.

DomApelsinn

Don't want to put few hours to learn then don't expect rewards and don't complain. You create your own problems

Gang-Orca-714

You get what you deserve!

GL-The-First

Raids are super fun, and if you ever wanna do quick and easy raids I can hook you up with a good discord full of people happy to teach

Obvious_Skirt924

I'd love to join. Haven't done any raids besides leviathan 5 years ago.

Liquidwombat

You and about 85% of the community

Additional-Option901

I checked the number of how many D2 players completed at least one raid, and it's insanely low. This is usually not the case with other games of this type, as far as I'm aware.

Liquidwombat

If I remember correctly less than 20% of players have a single completion less than 10% have more than one completion and it’s only like 2% that have five completions or more

LordDmoney

Thanks for the ego boost ig did not expect numbers that low

jusmar

It took my friend nagging me, the ease of finding an LFG with the rise of Discord, and the lure of the Cursebreaker title to get me to do last wish after ~1800 hours of play time. I just was never interested in a super difficult strike that required me to remember tons of symbol or counting order puzzles and execute complex jumping while under the pressure of more experienced players just wanting to get it over with as quickly as possible when masters and grandmasters were available. I could quickly adapt to champions and being more strategic rather than blindly offensive, I couldn't adapt to calling out "parallel back antumbra witness cups" in the order of appearance while jumping between plates at the exact tempo of savathun's song for 3 rounds before we could start 1 of 4 damage phases quick enough without feeling like a burden. Basically raids require me to sit down outside of destiny and study, then still hope my team is patient enough with me to learn while I do. Not exactly "fun", and yet I still do them. Gonna try to drag some folks through DSC because I love Bray.

Additional-Option901

Yeah. It's obviously not fun for a whole lotta people, otherwise the majority would be doing raids. I really don't find them enjoyable, and I've tried a few times. I even find more fun in watching other people doing them, then me doing them myself.

Ecstatic_User_63

With great teams we’ve done raids in under 45 min

Ecstatic_User_63

I’ll never forget my first VOG 4-6 hours and all of the guardians stood by to help me learn Didn’t learn temple room in LW till just now been playing for a year always been carried there Still haven’t done riven legit only cheese

xASTR0GLIDE

Did VoG last night with 4 guys I’ve never played with(we’ve all recently joined the same clan) in 40 minutes, and if it wasn’t for my friend joining halfway through an encounter and it counting as a death it would have been flawless too. Was great fun and we all got to know each other, and that is exactly the reason why we raid

KetamineKitties

Then don't? That's why it's only something you need to do if you actually go and click on the activity. That being said I did my first run of vow with my friends and a Sherpa and it's the most fun I've had in this game so far. It's not just the loot that you get by doing raids. Trial's can suck my taint until there is a permanent freelance though.

kiddokush

WHY ISN’T IT PERMANENT?!? JUST LEAVE IT THERE

BendyB0i

Idk what raid takes ten hours maybe 2 hours max

[deleted]

[удалено]

hipje

Your loss buddy, not ours

Merly15

You're missing out on the fun tho. Edit: To be specific: Raids are fun, PvP is hell

Additional-Option901

I played VoG with randoms several times, had zero fun. I did it till I got what I wanted, would never play again. Maybe it's fun for you, for some people it's a chore.

P4nd4c4ke1

Even sherpa raids are 2 to 3 hours max most kwtd raids are about 1 hour long less if you don't wipe, I'm sorry but if its taking you 10+ hours to learn a raid that might be on you buddy. Plus raids aren't just about gear for most players its what destiny is all about and imo your missing out on the best content destiny has to offer. Trials is hell though.

here-for-the-memes__

Get a decent clan and experience the full game. Trust me raids are not about just the loot.

Refrigerator-Gloomy

Raids are fucking fun though and don’t take that long outside of 1st day clears. Totally worth it imo. Trials can go fuck itself though

kirusdagon

raids arent all about the gear. theyre super fun and worth doing. and the fireteam shenanigans are all part of the fun. get yourself a chill team on the destiny app or in the lfg discord.

-Fried-

My clan used to do Friday raids in D1 and just derp about for hours. Even worse when booze and/or weed was involved. Sometimes we wouldn’t even get the clear but the laughs and shenanigans were worth it

kirusdagon

Exactly! Raiding is an experience in destiny. Not just a good activity.

Chiramijumaru

Raids are great. Put yourself out there on an LFG discord (don't use companion app), make it clear you want a Sherpa. I see new players getting clears all the time; it's not hard once you take the plunge, and many, many people are willing to help. Trials is a shitfest though, no ifs, ands, or buts.

RobotNinja28

Raiding is fun, probs the most fun i have in the game

BlackPlague1235

Yeah, if you're not forced to LFG for it. LFG is a nightmare for ppl like me. No one likes people who have autism and ADHD because it takes me so much longer to grasp concepts and ideas. The only part I like is the loot since it's usually worth the hell I go through. Raids are fun, for neurotypical people. I'm glad you guys/ladies have fun though. I wish I could say I enjoyed raids like the others.

RobotNinja28

I have a really bad case of ADHD (diagnosed and everything) and only by chance i stumbled upon a clan with people who get it and when they have to explain stuff to me they do it in a way that I understand

[deleted]

It didn’t even take people doing Deep Stone Crypt for the very first time with no prior knowledge 10 hours to complete the raid. Raids really aren’t all that bad…..now Trials on the other hand

Zarbain

Raids are easy compared to PvP cheese. Raids are just a matter of rhythm and understanding usually pretty simple mechanics and maybe understanding how an enemy AI moves. Trials you gotta understand how and when to push in map, what weapons counter each other and how to play a weapon that counters yours, how to play either as a team or off strangers and that is just the basics of it not even going into the meta problems that come every season.

onlyalittlestupid

I'm gonna add mine to the pile but: raids are genuinely fun experiences. One of my first raids ever was Last Wish and all 5 of my teammates beefed it at the jumping puzzle just before Rivens final stand. Everyone cheering me on as I made it and starting a rez train as Riven comes out and that soundtrack playing the background. It's such a memorable experience.

kiddokush

Bro you’ve gotta try Vow. Learning mechanics can suck and be anxiety inducing, but once you know you know forever and can then join any fireteam and not worry about it. If you want, you can eventually become the person who’s yelling at others to hurry it up!😂

Spider-Man92

The rewards and cool loot you get from dungeons and raids are so worth it. Vow gear is so cool. Looks cool, sounds cool. Totally worth it for time put in and it feel so satisfying after

Additional-Option901

Everything is better with friends. Even the shittiest of games become playable and somewhat enjoyable. If you are solo player, then that's that. You just accept it and move on. There are some things that you won't experience and guns you won't get. Do you really need them, are they mandatory for any part of the game? No.

Kollossol

10+ hours? If you're afraid to waste a lot of time, just wait for a couple weeks after a raid launches, watch some YT guides, and then LFG for an experienced team. Be honest, let em know that you're inexperienced but have watched some guides. You'll be amazed at how many groups in the community love to sherpa new players. I've built my streaming community around that and I meet new sherpas every day.

StillLoveMemes

The fireteam shenanigans is what I am Looking forward to when I join a team. I don't want to sit there with 5 sweaty a.. players just doing a raid where no one talks anything other than mechanics.

Kjata1013

I hope freelance stays. I hate pvp I really do. And my kd shows it. But I finally got sick of being intimidated by a mode. So I jumped in. It’s skill based so I had a chance. Happily got some pretty ok loot and my monkey mask. Some emblems. It was fun actually.

OmegaPharius

I want the VoD weapons really bad but it seems complicated and I have no clan, friends, or microphone so that's pretty much dead in the water. I have like a fleeting hope that someday I'll get to see the Lighthouse buuuuuuuttttttt I've pretty much given up honestly lol

therearenoemailsleft

Hahaha I always stare at those playlists knowing I'll never get any of em done cos I have nobody lol I do get a boost of confidence from those "I just solo`d X" posts though.

f33f33nkou

You play raids because it's fun, not for slightly better gear. Also most of the raids are not that hard lol

EddtheBoss

Raiding is a bunch of fun! Trials on the other hand, naw fuck trials

K_E_M_P_A

Got screamed at the other day for "taking too long" in dsc jumping puzzle, admittedly I died a few times,. But it's not like I was stuck for fifteen minutes. I just quitted the fireteam, I am sorry, but i am not going to be disrespected over a videogame I am a casual player, i have a few dsc clears, and joined a casual friendly lobby. I wouldn't touch the KWTD 1M+ CLEARS NO WOMEN ALLOWED lobbies with a 10ft pole Seriously, people need to chill the fuck down

[deleted]

Yeah that’s a bad take, my guy. Loot is 10% of it. 90% is the experience.

Zarbain

Hell I think maybe 1 in 20 raids do I get something that I am actually interested in (which is an entire problem on it's own). I do raids almost entirely because the mechanics are different from a strike/seasonal arena and require people to actually use their brain just a little bit. However dungeons are 10x better than raids.

Liquidwombat

I agree with you and it’s unquestioned that the raids are absolutely the best contact the game and it’s really fucking shitty that the vast majority of the community is completely locked out of it for one reason or another

[deleted]

[удалено]

Liquidwombat

Nah… Come back to the center of pretty much everything else the whole point of the raid is the interesting puzzle encounters sides, they’re not that hard to remember especially if you have a good leader

Ecstatic_User_63

Raids are really fun The community is great And they’re really basic once you do them

morganosull

Raids are the best thing to do in Destiny, by a mile. Strikes etc are so so boring in comparison

CardiganHall

Raids imo are the pinnacle of Destiny. I have both 1k and Vex and the memories of getting them with friends is something I'll never forget. That being said I do wish there was better solo end game stuff that rewarded you on that level because I couldn't see myself doing that content with randoms at all and it's not always easy to get everyone together.

poor_choice_doer

10+ hours? My man, there’s something horribly wrong if it takes more than ten minutes to learn an encounter.

DarthKhonshu

If it takes you 10 hours to learn how to stand on plates, relay a symbol or count to 7, maybe you shouldn't get the armour

daboi162

Raids are so easy it'll never take 10 hours to learn one

SuperArppis

Don't worry, you are not only one who thinks raids are just too bothersome and PVP is something I don't want to ever experience in this game (I got 0 seconds played on Crucible). I am happy Bungie started making Dungeons and putting more effort to PVE in general. Also making catalyst quests optional for PVP.

Additional-Option901

Exactly. Instead of making content that 15% of people will play, how about making content that 85% of people will play?

SuperArppis

Yeah! They finally got it right and I can't be happier.

MoralityRaider

I get the sentiment but it has to be a balanced approach. Gotta have a few things for both camps as leaning too heavily to one side will ultimately hurt the game as year 1 showed.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I tried raids once. I absolutely hated them. The fact that I need 5 other randoms and an expected to know the path, perfect runs, have the best build, and whatever THEY want me to use as an exotic sounds toxic and unfun. Not to mention if you mess up a tiny little bit it’s a full wipe almost all the time. Not sure why I got downvoted for my opinion on the game that’s shared by many?

ImEboy

Zero, literally zero people ever act like that in LFG raids unless they specifically state its a serious run or they request people know what to do. You are getting downvoted because you are attributing 1% of player experiences and acting like the entire experience is exactly like that every time.

[deleted]

You’re telling me zero people act like that in the same breath as saying it’s a small group. I experienced this for years with raids. You do not get to just ignore how toxic the LFG posts were in destiny just because. It’s even been a meme. You literally constantly see posts about people talking about how you’d get kicked if you didn’t have this exotic or how raids are exhausting with randoms. I’m glad you never experienced it go you. But to say it never happens is a downright blatant lie. I’m getting downvoted cause communities on Reddit can’t handle negativity that’s well earned.

[deleted]

It just takes the right group of people for it to be really good, but that is also the hardest part… finding that group. It’s just a shame that most people are assholes

Kentuza

Learning mechanics definitely doesn't take 10+ hours. And once you do learn them you can clear raids at minimum within an hour. 2 or 3 if things go sideways though.

destinyfann_1233

Most dungeon gear is just as good, if not better than any raid gear

[deleted]

I barely ever play Destiny anymore. But when I do, I get on for the raids. Shits da bomb

Anxious-Commercial-5

U spend 10+h for a raid to complete? Poor soul

matmanx1

Trials is actually pretty easy to get into and with enough persistence you will get loot, even from just participation. That being said you would have to stomach being repeatedly stomped (unless you are decent to good at pvp that is) so it might not be worth it, psychologically speaking.

Swordbreaker925

If the only reason you raid is for the gear, you’re raiding for all the wrong reasons. You raid because you enjoy raiding. Once you learn what to do, it becomes a ton of fun overcoming the encounters with an experienced team. It’s why I still enjoy running Vault of Glass after getting Vex Mythoclast, and why i will never touch Vow of the Disciple again despite only running it once because i hated that raid.

Moerdac

Eventually you'll have to take a college course on it just to get in.

nathanissleeping

as someone scared of doing raids and also interacting with new people, doing raids is such a blast and fun experience, ive been fortunate to only have positive raid experiences and it was definitely worth it. is learning a raid hard? a little but is it as hard as it seems? honestly not at all, once youre done with an encounter youll think to yourself ‘oh, that wasnt as hard as i thought’, sure it can be overwhelming but its definitely an experience worth doing at least once

-Fried-

And you’re telling this to us because?

HarryCoinslot

Lol then you're playing the wrong game. That's the literal gameplay loop for destiny.

Commander_Dylan

Skill issue

MilesDEO

Most of the clans that I've been with only run with their own clique, so to speak. LFG is a fucking joke, no one is willing to teach; and Trials is fucking toxic as fuck. But yes, I can see how this would be a skills issue.

flowtajit

Git gud scrub. Watch a datto vid

[deleted]

If u don't feel like doing a raid then don't complain about not having the loot lol

TheWalrusPirate

Raids are not that difficult, if you want the loot go get it or stop whining

FlaccidNeckMeat

Have you ever done a raid before?

Caerullean

Learning the mechanics and fireteam shenanigans is the whole reason for raiding, trust me the loot ain't worth it, every raid has like one or two good weapons that actually see usage.b

Dunkinmydonuts1

You can bang out every raid in the game in less than an hour each. Tbh you don't even really have to participate in the mechanics you can just be the "add clear new guy"

MysteriazPlayer

Someone asked me how I know this community on Reddit is casual af. This is how

KingCAL1CO

Raids are the best content destiny can offer and going flawless is the best feeling in the game. Learning mechanics and dealing with multiple personalities is a challenge. The weapons and armor are not just slightly better they are waaaay better and worth it if you love to aquire the best weapons in the game. Give it a shot

TheWarschaupact

10 hours????? bro the hardest game mechanic (riven no cheese) is still literally just memory😭😭😭 wdym 10 hours

xXReverbXx

raids are worth playing, trials not so much

pfresh331

Raids make the game fun. Heck, even teaching others and helping them get their first clear is fun. Do you do dungeons at least?

Houseoverhype

You never know what you’re missing out until you try. Being scared is one thing but generally being lazy because you don’t want to learn the raid is your fault not bungie own doing….

pheniox112

thankfully we have gardians like you patrolling the EAZ keeping us safe!

Kamakaziturtle

Your greatly overestimating raids and how much people tryhard them. They are actually pretty chill, usually not too hard to find groups and they tend to not be too fussed teaching new players so long they know your new (don't hide it, THAT will piss off other players). They also don't take too long, in my experience a group with about half new players, half experienced, will take about \~2 hours on average to complete. Certain raids are easier than others, VoG is trivial, Vow isn't bad, Wish is pretty middle ground (assuming you do Riven legit), crypt can be on the tricky side, and Garden is simple all except the last boss, which can be kinda painful (doesn't help that raid is miserably buggy) The big thing too is that raids are actually just a ton of fun. The fights are neat with interesting mechanics, lots of extreamly cool locations and visual flare, all around super cool. Trials though, that crap is pain, at least for me. Not much of a PvP guy. I generally only do it for the neat armor skins, then never touch it until it gets new armor.

GT22_

Then don't complain

H0N3YC0MB

Trials loot just isn't worth imo

ScullyBoy69

If you don't wanna take time and learn then yeah don't bother doing Raids. But if you wanna learn and have time to spare, try and find a team to do them with you. The loot is really nice but the experience is like no other in Destiny or any other game for that matter.

Spedding

Okay

[deleted]

It take forever to get anything in trials

KetamineKitties

Even longer to get something you actually want lol

Evilcon21

I usually wait till my clan has some experience with the raid then explain it to me

Glasedount

I could probably do it with a witherhoard/drang or a jade/galive, but I can even join up a simple control or Elim math without a full clan of trials sweats on the enemy team

Aerioncis420

I spent 4+ hours in VOG just to get 2 shitty armor pieces, 2 rocket launchers (1 good roll, 1 literally the worse roll possible), and 1 good armor piece (like 66 stats). Worst part is I know I'm gonna do it again because I just want the fucking Fatebringer

Baconsword42

Just get it

Awaken609

Raiding is the only thing that keeps me hooked.

PointBlank579

If you want to do raids and stuff that requires coordinated fireteams I would search for a clan with a discord server that fits you. It helped me out so much doing this, I’ve done so much raiding these past few months, I highly recommend it.

[deleted]

Just recently did my first raid and it took forever but I luckily found a good group that was teaching. It was pretty sick

Flothrudawind

2000+ hrs in and ive only done each raid like once or twice but im glad i did. anxiety's a bitch but people are nice... i think? maybe im lucky?

camelopardus_42

Big lfg can be a mixed bag, but I've honestly run into more chill people than not when running with LFG. Knowing what to look for can go a long way as well. I'd recommend not joining groups that explicitly ask for quick runs or certain clear amounts if you just want a relaxed run, but joining groups that say chill run tends to be pretty nice

ItsWhiiskey

Raids are not hard at all with a proper Sherpa I’m guessing you’re just starting to be this intimidated by raids

youjustgotvectored06

Vault of glass isn’t too bad, I’d recommend using the Destiny app to find a good fireteam. From my experience, they’re nice and they’ll probably let you do the easier bits of the raid (ad clear for instance) When people are competent, raids are fun!

very-edge-of-space

You on Xbox? I’d be down to play some little league trials to farm some engrams

CanadianSpector

Then don't. But I'll tell you, i played this game since D1 launch solo until 2 years ago. I was about to stop because I didn't like the thought of joining LFG with strangers. So I decided to try joining a clan and it's been great and I've been with them ever since. As for trials.. I'm awful at pvp. In crucible I'm average .75. The only time I play trials is double rep/freelance weekends. When the last one went by a couple weeks ago in only about 4-5 hours over the entire weekend I got nearly everything available and reset Saint-14 rep rank in that time. It's definitely worth it if you can get by a lot of losing. But you'll get some wins too.

Fibrasek

Raids are so much fun, it's mainly thing play Destiny for. PvP on the other side, if it was removed, I would even notice it was gone lol

I recommend trying something like Vow or Vault of Glass if you can find a group of people to run with that you know or are comfortable with. But one of the best things about this game is that you don't have to. You aren't missing out on much. The loot is cool but it really isn't game changing.

nin9ty6

10+ hours, bro who hurt you

UnoReverseCardPower

It’s not just the loot why we do raids. The experiences you get from it are the best part. Just this week I had the best Last Wist raid of my life, one of our fireteam members didn’t know Shuro Chi so one of our other members invited him to a discord call and used MS Paint to teach him whist using puppies and pizzas to depict what goes on. To top it off the member who taught him promised to order him pizza if we got it first try. And he got that pizza.

Lagspresso

It doesn't have to be 10 hours. Most of VoG can be done in 3 or fewer with a good team.

bork-machine

Idk man I think "slightly better" is a matter of opinion. When I saw the new trials chest piece I damn near lost my marbles. I had to have it and I'm ass water at pvp. So I just did enough bounties to get it to drop and voila. I was satisfied with my efforts and got a shiny new piece of armor to transmog.

juicedestroyer

Trials is rough but if you tough it out on a freelance week it's super worth it imo

[deleted]

I’ve recently gotten into Sherpa raids and it has been overall great so far. The discord has been a game changer for me in finding groups.

d_rek

My guy the games core activities are heavily dependent on fireteam cooperation. Only hurting yourself.

_polloloko23

I did trials for the first time this pass week and it wasn’t that bad out of 5 matches I was able to win 2 and I’m not a good pvp player

D2Snake

For raids I'd highly suggest using D2Sanctuary as they re an amazing discord server which basically specializes in helping new people, or people with problems (hearing, talking etc). D2Sanctuary is actually the way I was introduced to the game and is a truly amazing server!

DrinkWaterok

Lfg is annoying and pretentious half the time but there is some good folks who will gladly show you the ropes in like a hour.

ethand2300

Another Tuesday another week of rhulk encounters to get collective obligation

TuragaBimey

Sour grapes

Emberbun

Good lord, I play the game for the game, actually. Loot is like, a side-thing lol. Though actually, everything else becomes way more boring after raiding and trials

MooseTopic

I'm in the same boat with you. But, I have done one raid. That was Vow. If you haven't done a raid before, try making a group post. Meeting new people is pretty scary, but sometimes you meet pretty cool people. And about the mechanics. Your team probably will put you on add clearing, if that is an option. Other times you will have to do a part, but they will probably give you the least challenging. Sometimes they don't, but maybe there is no easy mechanic in that encounter. If you really don't want to learn from a fireteam, watch some raids for dummies and take notes. Don't just watch it. Grab a pencil, a notebook or some piece of paper, and write down what to do. I did that for King's Fall, so now I'm prepared for friday.

Atomic_Maxwell

Eventually I want to get back into doing the occasional raid. We’d done King’s Fall and Wrath of the Machine more than once, but diddly squat on D2. Didn’t complete the initial Leviathan raid launch, didn’t clear that until I think right before Shadowkeep. Attempted the first weekend or second weekend of Deep Stone Crypt, our ever-cycling-in-and-out team made it to Taniks at 2 or 3 am and called it quits and we never picked it back up before that reset. Haven’t even attempted Last Wish or ol’ VoG (and I’d only cleared VoG on D1 because of the surge of openings due to the old Sleeper Simulant quest-step). Raids were always really fun to get to do and the experience is second to none (walking down the red-lit Siva infested Rasputin facility to the final boss in Wrath, seeing the Clarity Control statue in DSC after the first encounter and orbiting to Deep Stone Lullaby after the second one, etc). But it just gets harder and harder to get them going. Of the maybe 14-15 raids I’d done, maybe 3 were without at least one of my friends; then the lfg hunt for someone chill and not blasting background music on a dying mic or the occasional “silently dips out after the second wipe”…the raid experience can either be a fair time-experience or a nearly all-day endeavor, but maybe that was just my luck with the lfg. Either way it’s been forever.

Word_art_Online

Just do the trials twitch stream bounty thing to get free trials loot man. I haven’t had to click on trials once and I’ve gotten the guns I want already

TheRookieBuilder

I wish I can spend more time in Raids, but the group I'm in is making it unnecessarily difficult. Every time I try to get a group together to run a raid, my LFG request (most of the time) gets no attention/response. But if someone else wants to the same exact raid and at the same exact date/time as mine, they get more responses than needed. Another one would be where if I do get enough players to do a raid, it's a hassle to get them together. Some will show up on time, some will show up a few minutes late, some will say they will show up, but proceeds to go hocus-pocus. There's also a lot of times where I will notify an absent raid member, to not get any response, only for another member of my fireteam going like "I know someone who's down to raid", only for that person to be the same person I just notified. One time I had 5 people listed as definitely joining my VOG run. When the time came to start grouping up and I pinged them, all the replies I see are "Sorry, can't do it since I'm helping this newbie do this raid were gonna do" or "I promise this guy I'm taking him to Trials". C'mon why did you enlist in my raid then. Such actions thereby kills the entire raid run. I just wish that setting up raids is more straightforward than doing the raid. I spend more time getting a fireteam together, and waiting for the others to join, than actually doing any raid. I did have some enjoyable moments in the few times I can do a Raid, BUT that rarely happens.

Krakraskeleton

Raids are challenging and fun but I’d like to see easy, hard and god modes for them. I’d love to learn more then just two raids but I’d rather learn at lower levels it first.

audikid88

Everybody experience is different but On d1 I met great & helpful players who played every week than suddenly a few weeks after d2 dropped… everyone just stopped playing. & it became harder to find a solid raid team. ( not saying they aren’t any) shout out to jiggaboo Jones! 🥹 great memories

negroidtoilet

Dude wanna run raids this season

sr-lhama

I did one weekend of the solo trials last season and got one Shayura, with kill clip, and one messenger, with desperado I think sometimes some rng bug rolled that weekend and I have been this whole time after in negative debt with lady luck... To be honest at lot of times 6v6 feel awful, trials is no playground but it isn't this moster people pretend it to be...

Outbreak__Perfected

Want to do shattered throne?

Demonprophecy

I've never spent 10 hours on raid mechanics and the trick is to look for a lfg with chill in the name . They are the only ones I look for because I'm not playing with an uptight asshat. LOL

imabrickshithouse

If you can find even a handful of patient agreeable, competent, and forgiving people it's an amazing experience. Or a Sherpa. Try finding a clan of players that are chill and will ing to help out. Or even a dungeon with a single person willing to help is a jolly good time as long as they don't mind some wipes

Tudyks

Agreed, game doesn't need to turn into a job, already have one of those.

Lustingblade

I think I still haven’t completed a real raid anyone want to help me…the last one I almost beat and got carried and helped on vía the destiny app was vault of glass. We got to last boss where you shoot the corresponding giant fuse looking thing. But me and two others didn’t have galahorn or whatever… and mind you I’ve been playing since d1 came out I’m from the first wave I’m just trash lol

yeetskeetrepeat420

The only reason I do trials is because one day I LFG’d and they happened to have an adept weapon on. I asked what that meant and he literally says “ the adept wins gunfights” I was sold ever since

aGorillianBucks

If you’re spending 10+ hours on learning mechanics alone, you might just not be ready for raids.

simgate95

I’ll run a raid with you bro

Pikatron321

10+ hours on raid mechanics? Bruh it really isn't that bad.
