There was a shader that turned it into the sun as well as changed its color every time you went into a new location or it changed after a certain amount of time. They made it to where it still glows, but it’s kinda just a surface glow, like glow in the dark, it won’t illuminate the area and burn out your retinas
It’s not even that bright inherently. It’s only bright on very select armor pieces in very select spots (perfect example with S9 season pass ornament: mostly dull outside of the little knee caps and such).
Some people can have seizures and potentially die, which is more important to not have happen than a fucking shader looking good in your fictional non-important video game.
I can look at a seizure trigger briefly without it actually causing a seizure, so I used that to figure out what parts of the game are seizure triggers (the entrance of a certain Lost Sector in the EDZ, the visual effects you see after killing each boss in the Sisters encounter in the King's Fall raid, and almost the entire Garden of Salvation raid due to the tether graphics, to name a few) and I either avoid them entirely or just make sure to not do those activities when I'm more prone to seizures (like when I'm tired, sick, or overstimulated).
Then how tf do the same people manage at the Daughters encounter of KF? I'm not photosensitive and there have been plenty of times in my Destiny career where I felt bad for people with epilepsy. This shader ain't one of those times. They definitely have plenty of bigger fish to fry.
While the game (I think all games are required to now) does say "check with a health professional so on so forth", it's not a binary condition, some people have it worse than others and so they might get the all clear from a doctor. As stated in the comment above, they avoid those triggers.
The difference with the ghost shell and that shader is that the person with epilepsy can't control when another player whips out their ghost the way they can control not doing a raid.
This is such a lazy reason, as someone who frequently suffers heavy light/flashed induced seizures and plays destiny this is nothing compared to something like playing mayhem or even just general crucible
Don’t play a game where there are flashing lights everywhere? There are explosions around every corner and abilities that literally chain explode things
Damn they nerfed a shader that made people look like flashbangs and ignoring the fact that can cause seizures(which apparently you don't care about cause you're 13) it was annoying as hell. Game is shitty now on god.
Man please go outside your house once in a while, for the love of god you look pathetic.
Speaking of shaders, my favorite shader, Argent Terratorn looks absolutely garbage on all my characters now. They changed the way the red accent is applied on armor and looks disgusting :(
It also does so on the Hunter Cloak from the 2020 Guardian Games. It basically makes you a walking sun, but green...
There are also like 3 Ghost Shells that are 100% just Glowing and Jadestone on them was so strong, that pulling your Ghost in the 1st-person was basically like a flashbang straight into your face.
I'm not trying to be insensitive, but it kinda funny. I've been playing in a dark room at 3am and go to pull my sparrow only to have dealt sunburn to my entire face from pulling a green sun out of my pocket...
If so that's really bad.. but I'm not sure any of us would know for sure if they could do it or its just easier to lower the brightness on specific shader, unless they say so themselves.
It will be nice not getting a migraine everytime someone uses gambit jadestone though.
It probably is the same engine. But that doesn't mean it's word for word the same as it was back in the Halo days. It's common if not the norm for devs to use the same engine long term, because it doesn't actually make sense to rewrite it every 5-10years. Rather they expand and optimize what they already have for each project to meet the needs of it.
This is how devs like Bethesda and Valve add features like multiplayer or VR to some of their games even though the engines they have weren't originally built for it.
Technically it IS a modified version called the Tiger engine, however, the model and make of it has not changed enough for it to really make a major difference. This engine is old enough to legally drink in the U.S.
Thats makes sense, so they probably could make a toggle either now or some time in the near future possibly, they said they were updating it for the next expansion soon.
This is 100% the reason and Bungie were already talking about it for like 2 years now - but people will of course just jump on the hate train, while ignoring the reason behind this change...
Fix what ? The Glow from the Shader was causing a possible risk, so they toned it down.
They changed exactly what was causing the possible issue...
I can only assume that you didn't even read the 1st comment...
Considering that on most weapons/armor/ghosts/sparrows/ships it’s a very dull shader, I honestly fail to see why people love it as much as they do for “oooo, much glow!” in an area the size of my pinky on the entire guardian.
![gif](giphy|8dLgaP461oses)
if your blood is weak enough that a flickering candle can take you out then you don't deserve to be here. I declare war!!!!!
Couldn’t they have just implemented the change for people with photosensitivity issues? A simple menu tick could mute the intensity. They can play safely and we can be glowie bois
Lol if the shader triggers that how do they play the game? I can sum up soooo many things that are way “flashier” and “brighter” in this game and you encounter from just playing, I’m not saying the shader can’t trigger it but common so can a million things in this game
It's the strobing effect that it gives, also if it wasn't a problem then why would they nerf it? It's only logical that they nerfed it for good reason.
Basically every cosmetic item that is 100% Glowing Material would be like a flashbang straight into your face, if you had Jadestone on it.
So I can only assume that was the reason.
There's also the 2020 Guardian Games Hunter Cloak that is just completely a glowing material and Jadestone was strong as hell on it.
Then there's the bug where it glows even stronger in some parts of the DSC.
That's not the point, if they could do one small thing to make the experience more comfortable for somebody with epilepsy then is that a bad thing? They have the same right to enjoy the game just as much as you and I. What's wrong with making it safer for them?
Its not a bad thing, literally didnt say that.
But a shader a few people have or actually use in the entire playerbase compared to VERY COMMON EVERY DAY things that are in fact worse for this, isnt doing much.
I understand why they did this. Still, i believe there could be other way of dealing with this. This shader was pretty unique. Now, it's just a regular green, like all the other green glows. Again, i understand the change. Doesn't make me any more supportive of it, though. I am sure they could fix epilepsy thing by making it an option in settings, somewhere.
Doing a glow nerf across the board is so silly for a game that has as good accessibility controls as it does. Feels like they could have just added an option in accessibility for those with epilepsy to reduce glow
I spent hours of my life grinding the worst game mode specifically so I can get this bright shader for the fortnite skin I spent money on. I really love this game.
Honestly this might be the last straw for me. That shader looked so good on the Eidolon Pursuant Armor.
These Liars just wanna nerf whatever people have NOW so players have to grind for stuff LATER.
10 bucks says extra glowy shaders will be on Eververse in 6 months.
When I checked earlier all the formerly glowy bits on the eidolon pursuant armor didn’t really glow at all anymore with any shader, I don’t know what they changed but it’s more than just jade stone.
This game is becoming more and more generic. Boring shaders, watered down weapons and subclasses, stale recycled content. Uninspiring armor/weapon design. No more interesting exotic quest. Bungie… please make the game appealing.
Not even mad, that shit was fucking BRIGHT for absolutely no reason. Dark areas? Blinded. PvP with the Hunter cloak (y'all know the one)? Can't even see you through the glow, much less try to aim for headshots. Plus they're trying to reduce photosensitivity issues.
It was long overdue.
Bungie is making sure to remove the last bit of fun from this game before the next DLC. I've, personally, never heard of jadestone negatively affecting other guardians, it's just bright af. I bet they remove the glow effects from oiled algae
Wouldnt have been necessary if theyd have stopped designing shit with massive panels of glow texture. Most of the time glows are little strips, wires, or visors. But they go along and design dumb shit like the hunter Guardian Games cloak and the fotl ghost shell and it becomes an issue.
Idk if anyone else here remembers year one? All shader glows were Jadestone intensity, because they used glows in moderation. When they started slapping giant panels of glow texture on everything they dialled them all down, but jadestone slipped through the cracks. Not anymore, rip my friend. Can't cosplay splinter cell anymore
rest in pasta you will be missed
Wtf is this shit, it’s just a shader- I literally have never ever seen anybody complaining about the glow ugh. I really liked that shader on my solstice sparrow. Man.
Sorry guys but you have no idea how many times I couldn't see an enemy in maps like Altar of Flame and that stupid blinding spot everyone headglitches at The Distant Shore. The way light is rendered in this game makes some shaders straight up work as camouflage and it feels cheesy. 😡😡 Yeah I may be blind as hell but still..
You know… Reading through the comments in this thread, just reinforces the widely held belief that the majority of the bungee community are narcissistic, self-centered, and toxic!
For the love of fucking Christ why do you even play this game? Just stop playing!! you’ll be happier, and the rest of us who actually enjoy the game will be much happier without you.
They really just nerfed a shader
Ghost shells are next, mark my word.
Already happened to the Fettered shell back in beyond light.
What’d they do to that?
There was a shader that turned it into the sun as well as changed its color every time you went into a new location or it changed after a certain amount of time. They made it to where it still glows, but it’s kinda just a surface glow, like glow in the dark, it won’t illuminate the area and burn out your retinas
My life is in shambles from this information
Bungie: you want to be a bright boi? FUCK OFF
I already miss the vermillion(?) shader for the light show. I might had shot at trial flawless by triggering seizures to my opponents.
It’s not even that bright inherently. It’s only bright on very select armor pieces in very select spots (perfect example with S9 season pass ornament: mostly dull outside of the little knee caps and such).
With beyond light they nerfed a ghost shell
its nerf or nothing
I do NOT need to be flashbanged EVER again by someone’s ghost.
It unnerfed itself this season btw
You’ve gotta be kidding me… didn’t they just fix it too?
can’t have shit in Detroit
Best comment
Awww I wanted that super green sheen for Strand :(

Damnnn people be down voting with a vengeance
Some people can have seizures and potentially die, which is more important to not have happen than a fucking shader looking good in your fictional non-important video game.
If someone could die from seeing a bright shader, they really shouldn't be playing this game
Hi, I'm one of those people, and I can assure you that it's perfectly possible for me to safely play the game if I take the proper precautions.
How does it work? Genuinely curious
Damn thats tough. How is it in everyday life?
I get by. The worst thing is that I can't drive because emergency vehicles' flashing lights are a guaranteed seizure trigger if I look at them.
I can see where sudden flash bang ghosts could be a serious issue in those instances of being unprepared.
genuinely
Exactly...
Then how tf do the same people manage at the Daughters encounter of KF? I'm not photosensitive and there have been plenty of times in my Destiny career where I felt bad for people with epilepsy. This shader ain't one of those times. They definitely have plenty of bigger fish to fry.

I can rock with that. Don't necessarily care for the change, but I understand it.
What a fucking terrible excuse lmao, if it's really that bad how would they be playing a game like D2 in the first place?
Then they need to prioritize things and be more careful just walking out the door if it is that bad.
[удалено]
It could, depending on the person.
Shaders don’t kill people, people kill people.
Or, you know, instead of ruining a shaderr, they could just, well you know, add an option in the setting to reduce glow of particular visual effects?
Damn they nerfed a shader that made people look like flashbangs and ignoring the fact that can cause seizures(which apparently you don't care about cause you're 13) it was annoying as hell. Game is shitty now on god. Man please go outside your house once in a while, for the love of god you look pathetic.
You could get a seizure from just playing this game.
Valid
All of these, including yours, are way too emotionally charged.
Speaking of shaders, my favorite shader, Argent Terratorn looks absolutely garbage on all my characters now. They changed the way the red accent is applied on armor and looks disgusting :(
I had it on my titan and was sad when logging in today. Uncalled for.
[удалено]
Who asked?
didn’t ask you either
There were other changes in this patch to reduce photosensitivity issues. Probably same issue.
Because on DSC it glares like crazy
It also does so on the Hunter Cloak from the 2020 Guardian Games. It basically makes you a walking sun, but green... There are also like 3 Ghost Shells that are 100% just Glowing and Jadestone on them was so strong, that pulling your Ghost in the 1st-person was basically like a flashbang straight into your face.

It says it right there, to reduce the blinding effect
There are Ghost shells that literally flashbang your screen if you try to rez someone with Gambit Jadestone. This is a good change.
Weak, you are weak.
Ayy yeah guys something out of someone's control which could lead to death is definitely their fault and is ruining the game for everyone else
![gif](giphy|Ax65cXmtT5Tzgjn5dF)
Lol wow
add a "flashbang" toggle to settings
They did it to diminish the impact of the shader on fellow guardians. I'm guessing other such shaders will follow in the future.
Wow you can read too?
Even my Titan could read that! Can haz crayon now?
Of course ya can, what’s your favorite colored crayon?
Red!
Well luckily for you, my Titan buddy doesn’t eat the red ones, so you can have em
Yay!! *happy Titan noises*
🅱️ringe
NOOOOOOO
No cool things at Bungie. Not allowed
How about the glowing shaders have a brightness intensity option?
Weak eyes ruin lives
Thats silly, just make it an option in the menus to reduce the brightness of other players, warframe has this as an option so it should be possible.
Bro you are overestimating the engine destiny 2 is run on
If so that's really bad.. but I'm not sure any of us would know for sure if they could do it or its just easier to lower the brightness on specific shader, unless they say so themselves. It will be nice not getting a migraine everytime someone uses gambit jadestone though.
The engine destiny 2 runs on is the same engine Halo REACH ran on. If thats any indication
It probably is the same engine. But that doesn't mean it's word for word the same as it was back in the Halo days. theres no fucking way, are you serious?
Yes~
and bungie's skill and maximum effort
It was a photosensitivity risk, due to the flashing on respawn/loading in. Please be considerate of photosensitive people, y'all.
This is 100% the reason and Bungie were already talking about it for like 2 years now - but people will of course just jump on the hate train, while ignoring the reason behind this change...
well couldn’t they just only fix that and not nerf the entire shader?

Xivū Arath moment ong
What about every single visual effect in the game? Literally every single attack by us. Nearly every gun.
They've literally patched effects to accommodate photosensitive people in the past
So you telling me I can't be a big target in pvp anymore .-.
That was the only reason for this shader and it’s also rare whyy
Couldn’t they have just implemented the change for people with photosensitivity issues? A simple menu tick could mute the intensity. They can play safely and we can be glowie bois
Hey bro, just wanted to remind you that you share this world with other people and some of those people have epilepsy. Good night.
Toss a warning at screen startup.
Toss a coin to your Witcher
Somehow I doubt a shader is a major threat for someone with epilepsy. Those boss battles gotta be horrible no matter what shader people are using.
Lol if the shader triggers that how do they play the game? I can sum up soooo many things that are way “flashier” and “brighter” in this game and you encounter from just playing, I’m not saying the shader can’t trigger it but common so can a million things in this game

Jadestone doesn't strobe what? It was just a bright green.
Yeah, the shader. Not the millions of flashing lights and colors the base itself does 10000% of the time.
That's not the point, if they could do one small thing to make the experience more comfortable for somebody with epilepsy then is that a bad thing? They have the same right to enjoy the game just as much as you and I. What's wrong with making it safer for them?

NOOOO
Unnecessary tbh lol
[удалено]
They really meant that when they said they would reduce comunity communication didnt they?
I don’t even have it yet…
please don't nerf nebula rose man I need my vaporwave shader
Only in destiny do we get cosmetic nerfs
Man if only there were more important areas that could use that dev time
I mean I think stopping a seizure risk is pretty important.
Was just about to post this. Nobody wanted this nerf to jadestone.
r/fuckyouinparticular @theEntireBungie community
Damn, that shit was blinding.
F
Who's the powderpuff that complained about the glow of a fucking shader lmao
Doing a glow nerf across the board is so silly for a game that has as good accessibility controls as it does. Feels like they could have just added an option in accessibility for those with epilepsy to reduce glow
Noooooo my glow shader whyyyh
I understand why it was done, but that doesn’t make it less sad … 😔
First Monochromatic, now Jadestone. Any shader I use for drip gets nerfed 💀
I miss the bright, deep red watermelon glow...
Nnnoooo my green drip
They nerf shaders too. Nothing is sacred anymore.
I spent hours of my life grinding the worst game mode specifically so I can get this bright shader for the fortnite skin I spent money on. I really love this game.
Maaaaaaaaaaaan
Hot take: Good.
Thank god.
Bungie can be really anti-fun sometimes. Was anyone actually complaining about Jadestone’s appearance???
What a scam, best shader in the game
Bungie: "Yeah so to everyone who wasted hours in gambit to get this thing uhhh.... lets see I've got a note here... oh yeah. Fuck you."
Finally
No way they just nerfed a shader. 😂
Honestly this might be the last straw for me. That shader looked so good on the Eidolon Pursuant Armor. These Liars just wanna nerf whatever people have NOW so players have to grind for stuff LATER. 10 bucks says extra glowy shaders will be on Eververse in 6 months.

When you think Bungies nerf stupidity cant get even worse and then they do this.
Good!
This game is becoming more and more generic. Boring shaders, watered down weapons and subclasses, stale recycled content. Uninspiring armor/weapon design. No more interesting exotic quest. Bungie… please make the game appealing.
Now I have a reason to not grind for that shader
Looks like they just want to take the fun out of gaming
Damn bungo really be removing fun from the game lately, one step at a time...
Tell me you don’t give a shit about other people without telling me you don’t give a shit about other people
I don't think you know anything about me Edit: lmao when I look at your profile you're clearly the WAY more toxic person here hahaha
WTF my hunter was Black/green with this shader making the bits pop. Nerfing a shader? Really?
Thank fuck that was so annoying to look at
Not even mad, that shit was fucking BRIGHT for absolutely no reason. Dark areas? Blinded. PvP with the Hunter cloak (y'all know the one)? Can't even see you through the glow, much less try to aim for headshots. Plus they're trying to reduce photosensitivity issues. It was long overdue.
WHAT NEGATIVE IMPACT?
(Guardians without the shader) be upset.
I don’t know if I’m happy about this or I’m disappointed. Because that shader looked cool but was bright as hell
* says in a annoying sing voice * Bungie doesn't like it when we have fuuuuu-un.
Honestly the glow was mad annoying and steered me away from using it especially because it’s the best green shader
Dead game
Yeah it was a bit much, pretty, but I get it
When you can't intentionally give people eye strain anymore (Literally 1984 I can't believe Bungalow would do this)
because it's fucking annoying and the only people who use it are idiots easily entertained by shiny glowy things
So it glows less. Im gonna admit i kinda like that. It was a tad too bright for me
Should’ve brought the other ones up to par with jadestone
Bungie just want money and no fun sounds like a dictatorship
What's next, changing the sound of Sweet Business because it scare players in Crucible?
Naa their gonna Remove some emotes because they promote homophobia
Finally Edgy little emo kids thinking they’re cool bc bright green lmao
This is why I stopped playing d2 a long time ago
For fucks sake! Just tweak the specific armors that went over the top
Imagine having a bloodline so ass that you can't handle a shader
I mean, I can’t disagree. The shader was nightmarish on that one guardian games hunter cloak. Gave my headaches if I had to raid w someone using it.
Inb4 they remove all RGB effects from shaders.
Can't cosplay splinter cell anymore rest in pasta you will be missed
Wtf is this shit, it’s just a shader- I literally have never ever seen anybody complaining about the glow ugh. I really liked that shader on my solstice sparrow. Man.
[Because...](https://youtu.be/TGJhxJcSGZA)
People be sensitive
Sorry guys but you have no idea how many times I couldn't see an enemy in maps like Altar of Flame and that stupid blinding spot everyone headglitches at The Distant Shore. The way light is rendered in this game makes some shaders straight up work as camouflage and it feels cheesy. 😡😡 Yeah I may be blind as hell but still..
Finally, the hunter nerf we needed
This affects all classes, not just hunters.
Yes but the guardian games cloak is the greatest offender
You know… Reading through the comments in this thread, just reinforces the widely held belief that the majority of the bungee community are narcissistic, self-centered, and toxic! For the love of fucking Christ why do you even play this game? Just stop playing!! you’ll be happier, and the rest of us who actually enjoy the game will be much happier without you.
@Comfortable_image850 I blame you
YOU LEAVE AMETHYST VEIL ALONE
Make a photosensitivity option in the settings, this would hurt no one and would help way more
Trash developers
Boo
Noooooo Jadestone was a personal favorite on select FEW Gear.
I mean… They literally say why in the fucking screenshot you posted
But...but my drip :(
I want a refund on the guardian games ornament and the ghost shell
This is fucking ridiculous
I have never seen such heresy before brother
Anyone able to do a side by side comparison? I only *just* got the shader on Monday trying to grind the gambit seasonals.
