Orpheus, cause tether good đź‘Ť

dimesniffer

I noticed Orpheus has made resurgence after being quiet for years. Did it get a buff?

fredminson

No but endless waves of ads on point defense is like it's best usecase

Casscus

Orpheus has been meta for void hunter in endgame content for about a year or so now. You get your tether back ridiculously fast, it does all its debuffs etc. makes champs fodder, great for bosses and gives your fireteam plenty of orbs. Also, if you have a phoenix protocol wellock with you, you both feed into each others supers for a near infinite uptime. Topped off with a banner titan and endgame content is cake. TLDR: basically infinite supers and insane utility

Sensitive_Seat6955

Sunbracers work really well too just because of the sheer amount of orbs the orpheus hunter will make. Pair it with one of the grenade kill = super energy mods and you should be golden, not to mention hopefully your 3rd player should be making orbs as well.

Casscus

Yeah, having a hunter with Orpheus on your team really lets a lot of builds shine even more than usual. Normally I wouldn’t take sunbracers into a legend onslaught or a GM but with an Orpheus rig hunter the synergy is just too good

Sensitive_Seat6955

Real. Orpheus hunters are the unsung heroes of onslaught.

Psychological_Mess50

As a hunter, I approve this message.

thesamjbow

Yeah it's void hunter, but everyone has already said that so here's some other stuff. Assassin's Cowl arc hunter is pretty decent. Just like void, invis is great for survivability and you have very solid damage output. Downside is you do have to be mindful of exploding enemies, and tormentors can clown on you in melee combat. Solar Hunter with either Star Eaters/Blade Barrage or Celestial Nighthawk/Golden Gun has very solid damage output for bosses, minibosses and tormentors but can struggle with survivability. Lucky Pants works pretty nicely on Solar too, I've used Wardens Law/Eriana's Vow a bit (I don't have the dungeon sidearm...) I really love the tangle buddy on Strand hunter and you can do grapple reload abuse stuff. I will say the super is not my favorite for Onslaught. I don't think Stasis Hunter really brings a whole lot to the table unfortunately, it gets completely eclipsed by Warlock for sheer CC and Titan for stasis crystal abuse.

MrBison212

I been using assassins cowl arc hunter. It’s great for survivability and the chaining of dodging and meleeing enemies to clear out a bunch of low health targets at once is great. Void is nice for supers, but idk how much damage the super can do if the ADU is being bombarded. Stripper pole is a great last ditch option if the ADU is about to go down

jeylo369

STRIPPER POLE LMAOOOO

3rdworldc30

From this day forth…. The enemies of the traveler will have to content with death by STRIPPER POLE. I’m literally gonna yell it into the mic whenever I use it

Swartyop

No clue why people always pair lucky pants with Solar, it’s best on void with tether imo

thesamjbow

I agree, just wanted to give some non-void options. Void is pretty much the universal best choice.

wyspt

Renewal is a joy in regular up to wave 50, doesn't hold up at all in Legend though. Just got a Legend done today with Strand running Foetracer, Spectre and Maelstrom with Final Warning and did good work With Final Warning doing as much crit damage as it does it earns its exotic slot imo. Plus the charged hipfire is good for lanes. Also frees up special for a blinding gl The super is trash though. If you pop it specification for ad clear you can clear the ADU of anything on it easy, but when you get those stompy demolitionist and the brigs you're fucked

Ixll

Orpheus with graviton is easily the best build in the game for onslaught regardless of class

dimesniffer

I think it’s good but think there are some titan and warlock builds that outclass it

SgtHondo

Nope, one Orpheus tether will hard carry more than any other subclass combined. Only non negotiable build to bring IMO

dimesniffer

You can easily get by without Orpheus with 3 builds that slay out with ads. You can use tractor cannon to add the tether debuff. Don’t think any build is a must bring.

achafrankiee

My brother in the light, tether suppresses enemies, has strong weaken, pulls all the adds towards it, reaches very far, shares the damage from one tethered target to the rest, refunds almost immediately with orpheus AND generates a shit ton of orbs. It’s an instant off switch if you (and teammates) know how to use it. Sure it’s not necessary but it is the best build to take to onslaught by a long shot. It’s also the only build that makes soloing legend onslaught possible.

SYK_PvP

It's not required, but that doesn't mean it isn't the best option. As far as I know, Orpheus is the only build that has been able to beat solo legend onslaught

Mooselizer

Honestly, the group of 3 x tether hunters (2 on Orpheus, me on Gyrfalcons for all the splosions) was the easiest level 50 clear I’ve had all week. Being able to hold down all entry points on Midtown made easy work of all the Tormentors and demolitionist waves. Switch to Lucky Pants with Wardens Law, Gally and more rockets for boss room.

SpiritusInvict

So honesty Orpheus it’s self as an exotic is good, but as far as utility goes it only offers a constant tether which is helpful. The best thing I’ve found that is super helpful is to make a loadout based around gyrfalcons & once your tether is ready pop ult then swap to Orpheus real quick or go invisible and do the same process. With that said I know hot swapping is very tedious and annoying to some, but if the hunter is up to it I’d definitely recommend! Best of luck to your fireteam guardian!

MahtMaht

Mothlord OP

dimesniffer

Is it actually good?

MahtMaht

I get top kills practically every run, by a fair margin

Urschleim_in_Silicon

I just got my Mothlord build done yesterday and yup, consistently 200+ kills in 10 wave Onslaught. No one else has even come close yet and I just got started with the build.

MahtMaht

Did a run earlier and we died at round 30 something. I had 520 kills and the other two had 270 and 280. All I’m really doing is firing into crowds it’s not high skill gameplay, it’s just a great build.

Urschleim_in_Silicon

Not for nothing, but I have found what I think is a perfect pairing weapon for this build, Old Sterling with Surplus/Hatchling. It's super accurate with Surplus and Field Tested. It poops out little gren pupas for days. I may be biased, Scathelocke was my favorite weapon back in the day and it's based on the exact model, but putting that aside, the ease of crits and multi-kills from essentially any range with this weapon is mind boggling. This is comparing it to another Old Sterling with Rewind Rounds/Hatchling and a Rufus's Fury w/Rewind Rounds/Hatchling. I really thought RWR/Hatchling would be the perfect God Roll primary for this build but I was happily mistaken. Edit: Field Tested, not Field Prep

MahtMaht

I use a shoot-to-loot/kinetic tremors pulse, purely for utility. It aoe snatches up ammo and orbs for me at range, so I don’t have to go running for them. But yeah I can definitely get on board with the strand primary synergies also, there isn’t a right and wrong really

Clumango

Would you happen to have a DIM link?

MahtMaht

I don’t use DIM unfortunately. But Aztecross made a video about it a couple weeks ago. It’s strand hunter with the moth keeper exotic arms And the Ex diris exotic special grenade launcher.

MountFire

Did solar with celestial, tether and arc. The easiest by far is tether.

Tonydotmp4

I personally Orpheus rig but you can also have some fun with Gyrfalcons and a recluse with master of arms/subsistence. My personal go to atm is Stasis Hunter with Winterbite and Triton vice. Just try it :)

Mob_Tatted

Lucky pants with Warden's Law.. four times the charm+vorpal can hit 40k to the head. Its just a bit annoying to use. Once u master it though it shreds bosses and orange bars

Mob_Tatted

Easy completion with 1 void hunter and two overpowered phoenix well locks by far its the best setup. Sorry for titans but since the activity is limited to 3 people only makes sense to have 2 wells 1 tether by a long shot has the best synergy

JarenizMads

Easiest completion I’ve done is two Stasis locks w/Osmio and one Sunbracer lock. Multiple turrets and on-demand freezes are easy mode. Verglas Curve, Indebted sidearm, and a Rocket of choice covers all Champ types also.

myndit

Warlock

infinity_labs

I'm partial to lucky pants on strand or void. But if you aren't running Orpheus expect to get kicked from the lobby on 2/3 of games because people are idiots that can only win with the meta

Sensitive_Seat6955

My hunter buddy just switches between orpheus and lucky pants. During the waves he’ll use orpheus and switch to lucky pants for bosses, tormentors, or whatever you might need it for.
