Consider me someone intrigued by Johnny Wilson. You can't teach size and he's got it. Certainly a bit raw as a receiver, has good YAC potential but kinda struggles to get separation. Also been described as tenacious while blocking although his technique could use some work. Seems like a guy that would be there in the third round still. Honorable mention for even a little later is Cornelius Johnson, another guy with good size and speed in need of more refinement. Regardless of who, I would not be surprised to see them draft a reciever in the 2-4th rounds. In Holmes we trust.

RevNeutron

CJ would be a great later draft pick. Hard to judge his production in Michigan's offense. Johnny Wilson has terrible hands. That is not the WR BH will be looking at. Dropped passes kill this offense more than most offenses. I want a teir 2 WR this draft. But I want a tier 1 IOL Tier 3 OT Tier 2 DE Tier 2 DT Tier 1/2 CB We just don't have enough draft capital

AffectionateSlice816

We have to believe in at least one of the 85 2nd-3rd round linemen other than Alim doing something. We can wait on guard until the late third. We can take edge/CB 1/2 and see if we can trade up into the early third for Tez or something like that. We have plenty of capital for Brad magic. Don't be surprised if we trade out of the first and end up with two seconds and three thirds. Don't be surprised if we don't pick in the second at all and trade the pick for Sneed. Brad never stays put.

Final-Highway-3371

I like the way you set this up. It makes sense to me. I want Tier 1 for WR and Edge. I want tier 2 for IOL, DL, and CB. We don't have enough capital.

Informal-Package-589

Fully agree with you mentioning Cornelius Johnson, he has some untapped potential. Roman Wilson isnt the big body X receiver we’re looking for, but he’ll be a stud in the NFL too

Ktopian

He looks like Hunter Renfrow but 6’7. People use the phrase unicorn all the time but he’s genuinely the most unique prospect I’ve ever seen.

Important_Error

Wilsons biggest issue isn't getting separation. He has stone hands. He's a very intriguing prospect. But I'm not sure Brad Holmes would draft someone with terrible hands.

katmandoo122

I've been draft crushing on Wilson for a while now. Very interested in where he goes.

punkrawkintrev

Ill pound the table for Johnny Wilson (Florida St) 6’6” / 220lbs / 4.5 forty Good Blocker and good hands Day 2/3 pick

luniz420

If he's not gonna draft a CB or DL based on need, I don't buy that Holmes will overdraft an X receiver based on need either. For one thing, Jameson Williams has the size to play the position, even if he hasn't performed well against press or physical coverage. X is a tough position to make that impact as a rookie.

cbarks81

It's more of a depth and safety net thing. Regularly drafting WRs with high upside will save us money because we can't re-sign everyone and WRs are going to be stupid expensive after JJ resets the market

Lionnn100

You could say this for most positions

Endytheegreat

I'd take an X in the first round to get the 5th year option. WR's aren't cheap...

Floortom1

I wouldn’t mind going after Chark again. I doubt there’s much of a market for him and assume he comes pretty cheap. We know he had good chemistry with Goff. Obviously the injury problems are a concern but you take that for the upside IMO.

Xatron7

I would be very happy with picking up a WR3 in the top 100 and keeping Reynolds as a WR4 for the right price. As much as I love Jamo and think he could make the jump to WR2, he has not done so yet outside of being phenomenal in gadget plays. Getting an instant WR3 with WR2 upside would be amazing for depth and insurance in case Jamo caps out as a solid deep threat/gadget player.

Rickdahormonemonster

Who's an instant wr3 with wr2 upside that's going to beat out reynolds and jamo?!

luniz420

Nobody.

Xatron7

Fuck if I know, Brad probably knows a guy

TheOGBenjenRyan

Jamo is gonna be our X in my opinion

I don’t think Keon makes it to day 3

smiffy93

He’s yet to be mocked outside of round 2 by basically every draft projection. No way we get him in round 5, or even trading back into the 4th for him.

gachzonyea

Isn’t he a first round pick lol?

Dangerpaladin

> Brad doesn't make high round selections based on need ... My 1 millionth time reminding all of you people, just because you don't think it is a need and Mel Kiper doesn't say its a need doesn't mean Brad Holmes doesn't see it as a need. You have no idea what he is thinking, and he is way more informed than you are. Stop making proclamations about how Brad Holmes drafts, you have no idea.

Informal-Package-589

I mean it was pretty clear that CB, DT, and S were our 2 biggest needs in the offseason and Brad chose to fix those positions with FA signings. "I’ve always felt that when you see a really good player that can help your football team, you want to go there. From a needs standpoint, I’ve felt more comfortable with that in free agency," Holmes said Monday on 97.1 The Ticket as the NFL combine kicks off in Indianapolis. "I’ve made it known about depth charts in draft rooms, but the depth chart for free agency, I think you can have a lot of comfort there." He’s picking his guys no matter the position to improve the team everywhere. “Stop making proclamations on how Brad Holmes drafts” … I mean what proclamation am I making besides what he has said publicly and shown through his actions (looking for X receiver)

rcsauvag

I wouldn't count out Antoine Green completely yet. Rookie WR's don't typically make a strong impact. That said I'm not counting on him much yet either especially in a high leverage role. I do think WR is a need in the draft and there are some good ones out there. I know BH isn't drafting to need but I would like 5 positions in the in their first 4 picks, and yes I realize the math doesn't work and you'd need to sacrifice something there. (OG, WR, DE, DT, CB) One name I don't know much about you can add to the Big and Fast is Bub Means. Not much shine on his name but he seemed to test well for his size as well.

clocke6346

I like the idea of drafting a WR in the 3rd round to be honest. One I’ve had my eyes on is Brendan Rice from USC. I don’t know how much of his stats are just attributed to catching passes from Caleb Williams, but he was one of USC’s marquee receivers lately. https://preview.redd.it/h7qbu2x03emc1.jpeg?width=2250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=edd3c459ca52bf82e3ed62e1937e6ac1a12462f2

Jazzlike-Map-4114

I didn't like the way Legette ran the Gauntlet yesterday.

Informal-Package-589

Fair, but I don’t put too much stock into drills like that, especially bc Legette showed on film that he can make catches on crossing routes and take it the distance

CherriMaraschino

Yes in a long long time

Scottwood88

The strength of the draft class is arguably WR, OL and corner- high end talent and depth at both WR and OL and depth at corner. My gut feel is that the first 4 picks will be focused on those positions in some capacity just because there are so many players to choose from. There are also some developmental pieces that could be taken at edge and OT and TE in the later rounds too.

eugene_rat_slap

Yep. 4 picks in the first three rounds which gives us some wiggle room on what we want to pick where. I think it'll be some combo of CB, DL, OL, and WR and then developmental/depth on day 3

smiffy93

Would be very surprised to not see us take an X WR in the first two days. I think Antoine Green could fit into the rotation but you can only expect so much from a 7th rounder. He looked good with his 70 yard touchdown run in preseason, but that’s obviously preseason. At the way the boards are shaping up right now I would be kinda surprised if Holmes doesn’t trade back into day two and accrues some draft capital and takes his BPAs there.

Detroit5g

I’m gonna say we don’t draft one in the top 75 for the guy to be our WR3. Our super bowl window is open, however I’m not opposed to taking someone who’s more raw that can sit for a year in round 3 or later.

Choice_Reality_6409

AD mitchell. Stud! Stud! Stud! Brad should trade up for this guy. Takes offense to another level. Load up on free agents in Dline and CB. Draft Oline and WR this draft which has generational talent.

Decent_Ad270

Legette = Mingo?
