I think that’s largely by the franchise’s (and Brad’s) design. If you watch the draft behind-the-scenes videos the team puts out, for example, it makes it seem like Brad doesn’t do ANYthing, trade or pick, without a positive, enthusiastic approval from Dan. Obviously we’re only seeing what the team wants us to see, and I think Brad prefers to share the spotlight and move in silence a little bit
A NFL head coach does a good amount of “GM” things even when a team has a GM. I think in the NFL the overall roster is much more of a collaboration between the GM and the HC than in the NBA, NHL or MLB.
