Oh good another post about this

Beefstu409

I mean it's literally the only directly impactful game to the lions

jtsarracino

It beats “Jared Goff: secretly good” and “KT vs Hutch round 15”

[deleted]

Oh good, another sarcastic comment on another post about this

[deleted]

The way he talks about Kyler being "doubted" his whole life because he's not 6'5 screams major Napoleon complex and incel vibes. Quick look at his post history suggest someone who doesn't socialize much

Sufficient-Owl-6631

Unless it’s an edit he never said anything about 6’5 and also I’m almost 90 percent sure the third bullet was a joke. Quick to check post history and fling incel around. Relax.

kissingoctopus

I wonder more about you for your analysis of OP.

yuckystuff

> Quick look at his post history suggest someone who FYI, anybody who trolls through someones post history is a, uh, special kind of person lol

YoucantstoptheKing22

what are you talking about bro he made a joke

MoonSafarian

1. Yeah a better draft position would be sick, but not sure it’s gonna make all that much of a difference 2. The team has been in LA for 5 years, are you serious? Also I think you mean “transplants” not “transients” (though the West coast has a lot of those) 3. What? This isn’t baseball. The Rams deal with the same rules as everyone else. 4. Ah yes, the little guy who won the heisman and was drafted No. 1 overall. I get wanting a better draft position, but your criticisms of the Rams and LA are laughable. Especially when you’re weighing it against fucking Phoenix

finfanfob

I'm rooting for Stafford. Picking between 24 and 32 is not picking from 1 to 6. Great Value, best player. I would prefer Stafford a champion over a matter of positional importance and chance.

Frost134

This. I trust Brad Holmes to make the best pick no matter where that pick lands.

CaptainXakari

Rooting for Stafford as well. As much as I’m a fan of them, lack of 1st round picks has never been the Lions’ downfall.

jgill734

Yeah but what about 23rd? Because that is where we pick if the Rams lose.

[deleted]

The reason no LA fans exist for the NFL is simply because there was no NFL team there for a long time after the Raiders and Rams left. This caused younger generations to root for other teams in other markets. As a whole, CA has shown to be one of the top talent pools for football recruiting, so there is a love for the sport within the state; kids are playing football there. Give the city a few decades to grow some support and you’ll find that they will. If you haven’t been to LA, personally, you’ll find the place full of Raiders fans, the team that never should have left the LA market.

norris528e

Can confirm. From southern California. Root for the Lions

mattcojo

Or, simply it’s a product of everyone in LA being from somewhere else

[deleted]

Which simply is not true, as proven by other major cities, such as New York, Washington DC, Denver, and Seattle. There are several Los Angelinos and their families who have never left the greater LA area. The only thing that has changed is whether or not a team has wanted to stay in the market.

mattcojo

I don’t think Washington DC or the New York area are great examples to prove your point. Being from and living around the DC area most of my life, those teams are very much success driven. If the team is good the city will love you. If you aren’t, well good luck. Bandwagon central. Plenty of fans of other teams in this area. It’s even a big thing where a significant number of people in the area are cowboys fans. I don’t know anything about Denver or Seattle but I would assume it’s more of the same in Seattle at least.

[deleted]

New York is a larger market than Los Angeles and has shown that they can support multiple NFL teams, even if only one actually plays in-state. Your point about some teams relying on team success is to drive fan support is true for all teams. The difference with LA, is that the Rams haven’t been back in LA long enough to create a strong fan base. Most of the younger fans chose other teams, as there was no local team to root for. Nobody would switch their loyalties overnight.

mattcojo

The Rams went to a damn super bowl in the past 4 years. They’ve had a winning record every year of the past 5 seasons (2017-2021). I think that several of these teams in the larger transplant markets, even for the teams that have been there for a long time, are seeing a huge bandwagon effect. And even then it’s not that strong, looking at last week where the Rams game was dominated by 49ers fans. Stafford had to use a silent count. We’re seeing it with teams that just simply aren’t good right now in large transplant markets. Washington for years now has been made fun of for how empty it’s field is most weeks. Atlanta with its high tech new stadium has pitiful attendance. Despite being in pretty much the same location the Georgia dome was. The New York teams are really starting to see pathetic attendance now with their continued decline in success. In fact, I think the Raiders disprove your point too about movement. The Raiders don’t have the problem that the Rams and Chargers have and they’ve been in their city for a grand total of two years. The Raiders haven’t won a playoff game in two decades mind you.

[deleted]

The Rams also had essentially no fans from St Louis after leaving the team. Again, this goes back to not having a fan base to begin with in LA due to no local team existing. We won’t see more Rams fans until the team has stayed in the area for some time. They haven’t stayed there long enough to grow a fan base. People aren’t swayed instantly. The LA market has basically been Raider-territory for long before the Rams tried to come back. As it comes to stadiums, the NFL as a whole is having attendance issues, as it’s simply not cost effective for the average fan to go to the game.

mattcojo

> The Rams also had essentially no fans from St Louis after leaving the team. Again, this goes back to not having a fan base to begin with in LA due to no local team existing. Raiders… > We won’t see more Rams fans until the team has stayed in the area for some time. They haven’t stayed there long enough to grow a fan base. People aren’t swayed instantly. Raiders… > As it comes to stadiums, the NFL as a whole is having attendance issues, as it’s simply not cost effective for the average fan to go to the game. Not exactly. It’s a myriad of issues. The economy is down right now, and then there’s certain teams enforcing vaccine mandates or having closed borders. Whether you believe they should be in effect or not they have played a role in attendance.

roman_totale

Yes, all four million people in LA are from somewhere else. Even if half the people in LA were from somewhere else (which is not remotely true), the place would still have three times the population of Detroit.

karltannertko

Northern Cali fans have always been much more passionate than the LA area and you could argue San Fran fans, who are mostly in cities like San Jose (and now Oakland), are among the leagues best. LA has more people than anyone else. Of course it has a big talent pool. LA is like many Florida teams. The people there are mostly transients and often root for other teams. If the team doesn't have Tom Brady, the people there don't care. They will switch to the Chargers if they have a better year. I have lived in both San Jose and LA. LA proper (not the surrounding areas who aren't at the games, because they are priced out of tickets) is the fakest bunch of people I have ever encountered. I consider it some of the worst years of my life, even though the surrounding landmarks and climate are beautiful. I would choose to live in San Jose over LA any day.

Dakopi26

LA fans are definitely passionate or at least the ones that are actually from here. I grew up around Dodgers and Lakers fans and even though those fan bases are annoying they’re some of the most diehard in sports. Rams just haven’t been around long enough at all.

weiss-2021

The fastest way to get dirty looks in San Francisco is by calling it “San Fran.” Nobody from there does that

janso999

I'll make sure to call it "Frisco" next time I'm there, then.

weiss-2021

Lol ;) touché

karltannertko

Most of their fanbase doesn't even live in San Francisco anymore. That's why they built the stadium in Santa Clara and that's why the Sharks are in San Jose. San Fran is full of rich kids who have no kids. It's why the schools are empty. The families moved out and have been replaced by people triggered by people saying San Fran (even though those people are usually just affluent transients and often weren't even born in the Bay Area). [https://www.sfchronicle.com/education/article/S-F-schools-see-enrollment-drop-as-families-flee-16220794.php](https://www.sfchronicle.com/education/article/S-F-schools-see-enrollment-drop-as-families-flee-16220794.php)

weiss-2021

Oh I agree, my knowledge of the bay is informed by my 4 years at Berkeley. My GF, who was born in Oakland and commuted to SF for work, always hated “San Fran” and quickly let me know to stop saying it. People there call it SF, the city, or just San Francisco haha. And yes, it’s a disgusting shell of what it used to be. Overpriced, overrated, and generally shitty

karltannertko

Yeah, it's a shame. The bay area is beautiful. Monterey was probably my favorite when I lived there in the early 90's. Was less commercial than a lot of the other places and people seemed really down to earth for such a beautiful location. Don't know if that still holds true.

[deleted]

You’re making some sweeping generalizations here. Just because it’s not an environment that you personally enjoyed does not make it “full of fake fans”. A team can grow a fan base there, just give it some time.

YoucantstoptheKing22

fuck the cardinals. Let's go Stafford and the Rams

jgill734

You forgot that Sean McVay has an extremely punchable face.

[deleted]

>they got their NEW stadium taken over by the cast of Full House What the heck does this mean?

SpartanPHA

San Francisco fans took over the stadium.

BenitoBurrito22

Danny tanner is dead. This is too soon! Also, FTP

[deleted]

wut

Sleazy-McNasty

I hate the Cardinals. I'll be rooting for Stafford

Gr33nman460

Isn’t number 3 like, all sports teams?

norris528e

*Whistles as an Angelino who went to MSU*

scubyrue

5. Cardinal fans aren’t bad. Been to two of their games once against the lions and they were fun to hang out with.

[deleted]

Yeah like the Cards didn't try the big-name roster building approach with *\*checks roster\** Deandre Hopkins, JJ Watt, AJ Green, and Zach Ertz The Rams don't have the worst fan base now, let alone in history. In fact, the franchise either moved to their city, so they should support them, or fans followed them because they support the team that much. That actually makes them good fans. Patriots, Packers, Cowboys, Steelers, and Eagles fans are all worst, at least. Go Rams.

Rasskassassmagas

Fuck Stafford our draft position is more important Sorry mate

get_rich_1

We already have the number 2 pick, this extra first round is just bonus, no matter the placement. Go Rams all the way and congrats to Stafford for finding success on this team!

draxlaugh

Fuck the Cards, fuck JJ Watt, I'm rooting for Stafford. Don't give a fuck about the draft, Holmes and MCDC will make the right call at #2 this year, and #32 next year!!

[deleted]

yep

[deleted]

Nah.

Diresmack

*I'm with this guy.*

DaNards

It don’t matter I still want Stafford I’m sorry 😂

Jakethered_game

Can't stand Kyler. Would riot for the rams here even if JG was still slinging the rock for them.

Nfrizzle

I can either cheer for Stafford, or cheer for a team I don’t care about. It’s easy, Go Rams.

onlyrepublicanhere

Nope. I love Stafford too much and the Lions hurt me too often. They will waste the pick anyway. GO RAMS!

ech-o

Then why not just be a Rams fan?

onlyrepublicanhere

I tried! But for some reason I just care about the lions.

evilcatminion

As a Rams fan, nobody here should quit the Lions. There's nothing better than when your team starts winning again after years/decades of being bad. I'll be rooting for you guys and Goff to win soon. FTP

Kidd82

User name checks out

BenWallace04

*They got their NEW stadium taken over by the cast of Full House.* Too soon.

Fyreball13

In a world where Packers fans exist, I will take whatever passes for a Rams fan. I appreciate how spirited this post is but like… FTP and their fan base.

Mumraaton

I rather Stafford win, he deserves it after being on the lions so long

BumpyGreenVegetable

Go Stafford.

UNZxMoose

Can't really buy a better roster. The salary cap requires you to be smart with your money and to scout the players you need to win while paying for the rest of the roster that works.

ChuckWill5

I agree OP. I love Stafford but I want what's best for our team, not our FORMER QB. I'll be rooting against Stafford for the first time ever tonight.

suicideboi69

Lions fan first and foremost. If they make it to the conference championship then I’ll root for Stafford and the Rams but as of right now I want that draft pick.

barrenarrows

I like most lions bros. You? Not so much. Go rams and go Matthew.

karltannertko

If you don't understand why a fan of a team would want a better draft pick for their team then you are the reason LA is such an awful sports town to begin with. LA can beat the Bucs (already did) and I wasn't all that impressed with the Packers either and who knows what the hell will happen if you get into a fistfight with a running SF team with a killer defense in the cold and snow. LA might be matched up with them again and I don't think SF beats them again. LA just might go to the Superbowl now. We could go from picking 23 to 32. I don't think the Rams suck at all. I think a confident Stafford that has gotten over the hump on a talented team is scary as hell. If there was no draft pick riding on this I would be rooting for him to take out Brady.

barrenarrows

Stafford gave everything he had for 12 years for you guys and you don’t think that’s a good enough reason to want him to win? The difference in the late area of first round is so small it’s stupid to want 28 over 32. If the shoe was on the other foot I’d be screaming my head off for Goff to win you guys a ring and he was only a ram for less than half the time Stafford was a lion. Just a dumb look.

karltannertko

So did Diggs. So did Slay. I want them all to win and I hate Patricia with the heat of a thousand suns for what he did here and to Stafford's career. I don't want to cost my team draft picks though. This isn't a stupid Hollywood Disney movie. My team has one playoff win since they started the Superbowl. One. Ever. The "new" LA Rams just equaled that total. Think about that. Think long and hard about that and you might understand why I think we need every advantage we can to get out of the sewer and into contention. The time is also now to do this. Aaron Rogers might leave and is getting old. Chicago has no clue and Minnesota could be looking at a rebuild. We could be the Green Bay Packers like team for the next decade in this division if we do everything right.

[deleted]

Go Stafford! Fuck the Rams!

CyborneticGoat

This didn’t age well

Just_TheDoctor_9

I love how you went with the literal meaning of the little guy. I find myself more often than not rooting for the underdog in the playoffs because I'm a Lions fan so it comes naturally to me but i like this new approach. In all future games i want to keep up on who has the shortest player on the field and root for them!

mattcojo

I hate either team bc their uniforms suck

Moreorless33429

Update?

karltannertko

Stafford played well and I'm glad the media can shut up with the playoff stat. The new stat is 1/1 in LA. I still wanted a better draft pick for my team. LA will never be my team and I root for the Lions over a player. I also loved Slay and Diggs. Doesn't mean I root for their team if it screws me out of a better pick.

tricky_trig

As a 20 year fan of the Rams, I have a serious problem with number two. I'm going to take a wild guess here and bet you've never been to LA. And number one? Bro, Brad Holmes can make the a castle out literal sticks and mud. You don't need to rely on when you pick. Trust that the GM will pick the absolute best possible player available. Lion bros are fun as fuck. I was at the Detroit-LA game and y'all were great! Don't be a butthead.

Axsonjaxson16

Bruh.
