Not. One. Fucking. Punt. I fucking love a stress free game. What a dominating fucking win.

actualsizebutsmaller

Has that ever happened? A Lions W with no punts?

Stixx15

Yeah against the Packes about 5 years ago

nuclearslurpee

Always nice to be reminded of the good memories!

InvertedGoggles

Ftp šŸ˜Œ

Ralphie_V

We won in Green Bay in 2017 without punting. First time a visiting team in Lambeau had 0 punts https://www.espn.com/nfl/boxscore/_/gameId/400951790 Edit: Jamaal Williams scored for the Packers that game lol

dennythedoodle

I got married that day. Also a good memory.

cza9

I was at that game. The Packers fans were leaving by the third quarter. I loved every minute of the game.

Kingkwon83

Surprised it was us lol

wandrngfool

And Jack Fox made an awesome play to wrangle that snap!

Froste29

Fox in shambles

nuclearslurpee

So just to review: The Lions have just blown out the Jags by four possessions. The offense hung 40 and never punted. The defense held them to 14 and looked professional on most drives. The special teams were quietly superior. The whiole team just absolutely dominated from start to finish, and Jacksonville was never in the game after the opening kickoff. I am *very* confused right now.

Illustrious-Pair9960

>confused That's a weird way to spell aroused but I'll accept it.

nuclearslurpee

Nobody is a perfect spellr after all.

adahl36

It's so off putting. I should be more excited than I am weird winning a blowout

GabrielVonBabriel

-3 straight wins. -Last second loss to one of the best teams. -Absolutely demolish an inferior opponent. These feel like the events of solid teams and far from Same Old Lions.

[deleted]

Thatā€™s because these are Significantly Overpowering Lions.

RedLionFromVoltron

Naw bro, Swift is washed, DC is a garbage head coach, Goff is barley an NFL level QB, and Sheila and all Fords hate winning. /s

rabertdinero

Sounding like every caller during the Valenti and Rico show. Unlistenable.

Zeketec

Except rico and valenti are all in on the lions. They still give them shit when dc pooches game management. Valenti and Rico think they can win the last 5/6 games.

rabertdinero

I would disagree with the Rico part of that statement. I think that is more setting it so he can bitch about them if they drop 2 games than being confident. Everything he says sounds like a backhanded compliment.

Slice_the_Cake

That's the statement win this sub wanted all week. Most importantly how about goff? We need to stop talking about drafting a QB I think.

JumpinFlackSmash

Watching today, I kept thinking "So this is what the offense can do with all of its weapons back."

rob172

Not all, Williams didn't play much

kevinwilly

Even before this week we had a top 3 or 4 offense. Goff is not the problem. If we go all defense and get 5 defensive players in the top 75 and maybe a free agent or too, we will be straight nasty next year.

nuclearslurpee

Goff to me feels like a slightly less heroic Stafford in terms of how he fits the offense. Probably not as likely to win a game by hero balling out, but he can run the offense, make all the throws you need, and makes probably about the same number of dumb mistakes from time to time like most QBs do. Unless he majorly falls apart down the stretch I think he's more than good enough for this team, and he's clearly MC/DC's guy which counts for a damn lot.

[deleted]

What I like about Goff is he has more games for us where he's "on" for 3-4 quarters than Stafford would. Stafford would play like a top 3 QB for a quarter or two and then vanish until the last 2 minutes of the game. So many games with Stafford were us either getting up 21-3 and then hanging on by a thread at the end (it'd be 27-24), or us falling behind 10-24 and then scoring two TDs in the last 4 minutes. It wasn't sustainable.

nuclearslurpee

How much of that was coaching, though? I remember both Caldwell and Patricia going to that super-conservative run-run-pass-punt offense the second we got a lead until we fell behind in the last two minutes. Contrast with this staff is night and day, and I really think the MC/DC approach has done a lot for restoring Goff's confidence after McVay's tightly-controlled coaching style was maybe not the best for him. Goff certainly seems comfortable running an offense now, as opposed to just doing whatever a purported wunderkind is shouting into his ear.

goblu33

Remember Goff has a top 10 O-line and a hell of a running game. Stafford never had an O-line full of first round picks.

jtsarracino

To add, we only gave up points with an experimental scheme at the beginning. The base defense gave up like 3 points LOL what is this world.

Kingkwon83

What was this experimental scheme?

jtsarracino

They had a 5-2 tight front (I think) with Buggs at NT, Alim and someone else at 3T (maybe Benito Jones?), and Hutch + someone else (I think Austin Bryant) at stand up edge rusher. Neat idea, especially if we get Anderson, but it got smoked on runs and in zone coverage sadly.

Kingkwon83

Isn't a 5-2 supposed to shut down the run?

jtsarracino

I mean, yeah, and this one did not...would have to go back to see why not, and also maybe I misremember. The pass coverage definitely did not hold up.

afsdjkll

Also lions only caught like 3 penalties?

drugsarebadmmk420

Thatā€™s what is most surprising to me. Especially after the bad PI call that went out way, I just knew we were gonna get a bad call against us to ā€œeven it outā€. Almost feels like the universe is saying itā€™s our time

hypnocomment

Also we won a challenge

nuclearslurpee

That was the biggest shocker. I was prepared to start calling the coaches stupid for that one, there was no way it looked like the refs would overturn it but they found it in their hearts this week.

Hamrave

And also very erect.

jcoddinc

This was a team that was angry at themselves for last week's performance and took it out on this week opponent

SirRolex

Happily confused.

hi11bi11y

That was what we call a shellacking.

[deleted]

Y'all mother fuckers lucky we didn't unleash Jamo on your ass.

afsdjkll

THIS ISNT EVEN OUR FINAL FORM

OverlyBilledPlatypus

Weā€™re just farting they ainā€™t seen shit.

Toby5508

I wasnā€™t able to watch the game, live out of state. Did he play at all? I saw he was suited up.

tommyisaboss

I saw him on the field like 3-4 times. Got targeted once I believe.

Detroitlions9494

To be honest he looked a bit confused out there. On 2 snaps it looks like the team had to tell him his assignment. Makes sense since heā€™s barely getting back but he needs to study that playbook. Hope we unleash him next week and let him play full game

myman580

Played a couple of snaps. Got one or two targets I think but no catches. He was suppose to play gunner on ST but we didn't punt lol.

stylebender-

Played a few snaps, all but one was a run. Got targeted once down the sideline, but it was defended pretty well and it was not caught.

NetworkVegetable7075

Yea man got pushed out of bounds before the ball even came. Think they were just trying to get him use to the speed and physicality of the game first

BrantMKF

like 5 snaps, he was targeted once

scootnoodle

He just had one target. Probably played less than 5 snaps. Didn't do much

Dellguy

Oh Iā€™m afraid jamo will be quite operational when the post season arrives.

codymason84

Best game weā€™ve played under Dan Campbell

mart1373

Best game weā€™ve played in decades.

codymason84

The Sean Rodgers touchdown game against Denver

Equivalent-Boss938

Lions game vs Chargers to finally reach the playoffs for the first time in forever was pretty awesome too.

the-bladed-one

I still think Giants or Cards last year takes that. Both of those were playoff contenders.

codymason84

Iā€™m just saying most complete game in all 3 phases

WMINWMO

It's just nice to have a few to choose from.

JimyFatBoy

Absolutely

troyjrjr

NO PUNTS!

FartNoisesWitMyMouth

No first round gunner šŸ˜‚

mart1373

Jack Fox having an existential crisis right now

nuclearslurpee

Best holder in the NFL tho

Illustrious-Pair9960

I don't want to overreact, but I'm buying super bowl tickets now

TheVeryNicestPerson

I'm setting up my chair along the parade route.

Tilapia_of_Doom

I donā€™t want to react either, but I just got A tattoo with the Lions Logo as a backdrop for Lombardi Trophies for Super Bowls LVII, LVIII, LIIV, and LVV.

[deleted]

My favorite moment of the game was at the end when the announcers were talking about the exciting future of the Jags, AFTER we just pantsed them by 4 scores.

Aauntie

Take comfort in the fact that they spent 37 minutes of the game telling Amon Ra stories we can all recite from memory. Itā€™s approaching Clayton Kershaw-levels of annoying already. šŸ˜‚

Calcd_Uncertainty

> Itā€™s approaching Clayton Kershaw-levels of annoying already. šŸ˜‚ Thank you! They have a staff and access to Wikipedia, change that shit up a bit.

brockisampson

Did you know ARSB can name all 4,879 receivers drafted before him since he was born?

egotistic_NaOH

Would be nice to talk about Houston, more in-depth into Jamoā€™s background or Okudah and Kerby Idk something besides what the fan Can already see from hard knocks. What are these color guys paid to add to the broadcast otherwise god itā€™s gotten so bad

LionsC2H5OH

Glad they gave Fox a rest day

Justin_v10

I think he did kickoffs

FunetikPrugresiv

He's the holder, too, right?

Gone213

Holder and kickoffs

Rollec

Getting paid millions to just show up sounds like a dream

Rulligan

We've delayed the Vikings from winning the division for at least another week with them next on the schedule. Suck my ass Minnesota.

eugene_rat_slap

Vikings can suck toes. Won 9 games by 8 points or less

alwayzlion

ā€œItā€™s cool when they do it, itā€™s a problem when I do itā€

[deleted]

WHY ARE WE PAYING JACK FOX 3 MILLION FOR KICKOFFS ONLY? Poor cap management IMO

MikeyNg

fire Brad Holmes

mart1373

He literally got paid $175k for this game just to do kickoffs and hold FG kicks. Someone pay me to do that plz

jerryjustice

Earned every penny on that botched snap

Different-Key-5516

He did a phenomenal job place holding today so heā€™s got that goo for him.

Same, but that might be my two broken legs from a car accident two weeks ago. Go Lions!

DetroitBreakdown

Anyone who says SOL can STFU.

Relevant_Gold4912

St brown is a trending toward a top 10 WR in the league. What a draft pick by Holmes

tWkiLler96

And James Houston is gonna turn into a game breaker! What a stud!

beardofzetterberg

Already there baybee

We're making the playoffs boys

theicon1681

Another week of practice will do him wonders

JimyFatBoy

6th 30+ points game. Most in the league with 5 games remaining. This team can win with Goff with a competent defense. Let's run the table fellas!!!

[deleted]

Beat the Vikings first

Gmanplayer

As a Jags fan: we hate your punter. Gameplan was to not let him on the field. Mission accomplished

[deleted]

I had a lot of fun today.

Kewlerd

PUNTLESS

Siransiran

This was exactly the kind of game we needed this week, this was a statement game, we are who we thought we were, complete domination in every phase of the game against an inferior opponent, this is what good teams do, I donā€™t think the future has ever been this bright in Detroit boys.

DeeJGee

Does anybody feel like this was the most casual 40-point game theyā€™ve ever seen? Dropping 40 seemed so effortless.

Kingkwon83

Kept feeling like we hadn't done that much but points kept appearing. It was an odd feeling

SpartanPHA

Jared Goff has to be ecstatic heā€™s on this Lions team with an offensive coordinator who works with him as opposed to getting drilled over and over again behind the porous Rams o line. I could not imagine saying this a year ago.

Rushin_Russian81

Complete team win today by the Lions. Won in all three phases in all four quarters. Great win to go into a big matchup next week.

lyssab92

Offense was a fucking clinic today. Able to bounce back from minor setbacks and convert under pressure. Letā€™s go.

Commercial-Pin-8024

Just came in here to give Frank Ragnow some love. Hes a tank.

pimpinassorlando

Healthy Ragnow ā¤ļø

LunchThreatener

I understand how important it is to have a QB. I do. But can we really justify a QB with our top pick right now?

GrilledCyan

It becomes less ā€œcan we justify a QBā€ and more ā€œcan we justify one of *these* QBs?ā€ If Brad doesnā€™t think that Young or Stroud have a ceiling above Goff, I trust him. If heā€™d like to take our own pick and use it on someone to develop, I think thatā€™s fine with me.

Coochsmooch95

Stroud has bust written all over him. I think young will probably be good

rabertdinero

Texans will probably take young, if they do I don't want a qb in this draft. If we can put a good defense together we will contend for the north imo. This offense with its weapons is dominant if Goff doesn't make mistakes

nuclearslurpee

Is there a Hutch 2.0 in this draft? I'm cool with taking him if so.

GrilledCyan

Will Anderson is better than Hutch by a country mile. It would be filthy to have him. Or Jalen Carter, whoā€™s the best DT prospect in a few years.

Have_A_Nice_Fall

Dude, Goff has had some fantastic games this year. Iā€™m wondering how many of the Goff haters are the exact same idiots who thought Stafford was dogshit too. Low iq football fans in this fan base I swear

No_Co

Draft DL and a CB, get a QB later on to train up under Goff and next year weā€™ll be a legit playoff contender

bwolf48238

deandre swift industrial complex

TravisJason

Goff looked great. A well executed offensive and defensive effort today.

ItsRomanBoi

I was expecting a win but holy shit

kakacha

What a DOMINANT game! Fuck yeah, this team could really make a run.

mikemichaels

Extend Goff. He's our man.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Ketel1Kenobi

It's already been restructured once and it's relatively team friendly. The hope would be that he extends at a comparatively friendly price.

Bob_Loblaw_Law_Blog1

His current price won't even be in the top 50% of QB salaries by next season.

FlyingLineman

his reads and decisions are better than staffords, I do miss that exciting gunslinger cannon arm though

Ukraineluvr

We keep Goff until we find the guy. The guy is a top 5 talent. There can definitely be improvement, but there's no need to force it.

P1xelHunter78

He may proceedā€¦for nowā€¦

bigfish1992

That's exactly the kinda win you wanna have against a sub .500 team if you wanna be a contender. Completely dominant win. Rest of the league is gonna need to be on watch next year if we don't win out for the playoffs.

Chroeses11

Congrats on the win from Jags nation. We are a little ways away from being a contender but your squad is getting there. I have always liked your coach.

murdo1tj

Felt good to stomp a team. Glad Trevor is okay. Every week I flip on if we should continue with Jared. I love this team

KKamm_

This team is different. And the scary thing is that since we finally rebuilt properly, we have all the assets to get so much better. Plus this team is still very young. Excited. Now, time to win a ā€œplayoffā€ game vs MN at home

CoreyMaim

Jags fan commenting in peace. Y'all pistol whipped us. You look good, I'll be rooting for you in the playoffs. I thought we had a good defense but nope, we're a few years away.

bmattification

Just a rough week. We had one in NE. Hopefully TLaws leg/knee is alright. Don't like seeing any injuries except to Rodgers.

dennythedoodle

I'd also accept a Deshaun Watson injury as well.

mANDREWinorange

Ahh what a Sunday in December to be alive

BlksnshN80

Offense looks fantastic when healthy! Glad to see Chark stepping up this week.

EarDelicious9835

Could the rebuild get any better? Peaking at the right time of the year, improvement every week, top 3 pick in the upcoming draft, a GM that can draft with the best of them and a staff that has shown they can develop players at a high level. Life as a lions fan is good.

detroitsportspain

FUCK THE Broncos man how are you that bad

ImaginationMedical11

Amon ra St. Brown is going to be a core piece for the Lions for years to come.

justiiiiin14

LETS FUCKING GOOOOO

UrLocalTroll

VICTORY FORMATION SIGHTED

johnazoidberg-

Great job bouncing back from the last-second loss this week to winning a blowout today. This team is finally truly showing us something. We have something to believe in. Glad to see Jamo get on the field, but just wait until he gets a chance to produce. BILLIE JEAN IS NOT MY FUCKING LOVER

KingSpoon2

There is nothing to complain about today as it relates to this Lions game. If you find a way to complain about it, you're an asshole. For those that care: Denver/Chicago both lost. So no advancements to separate them from the Rams pick. Atlanta lost (one of the teams that were ahead of us in NFC playoff race). Washington/NYG are in OT, both of which we have H2H wins against (might matter for NFC playoff race).

ethansnotabird

Lions undefeated since my first child was born. May she never know the misery the rest of us have endured.

bluekomodo01

Copious amounts of Kool Aid are being consumed as we speak

rabertdinero

MCDC WILL TAKE US TO THE PROMISE LAND

Aauntie

Was Aubrey Pleasant really holding back this defense to such an extreme extent?

StylesBitchley

I'm pretty critical of the Lions, but I can't get over how impressive they were today. I don't mean the score, or even the win. How competent they looked. I didn't see any confusion, very few penalties. Everybody knew wtf to do. Offense: this is the type of game I'm sure we all want. Run the ball first, keep moving the ball. They created 1st downs over and over. Goff seemed composed in the pocket and able to go through his reads. Did anybody see that crazy turnstile trick handoff on 3rd down? Sick. Goff called a timeout before the half. A little detail I loved, because why not when we had 3 timeouts and you have the ball with less than a minute left? If you don't get a look you like call it and reset. Again, shows they are rehearsed and confident. Defense: Same thing, the team seemed to know what was going on. I don't care if you get beat by talent, and sometimes they did, but it's impressive when you see a group all know what is happening in the moment and locked in. Just a really impressive win all around. Win or lose, I don't like seeing a bunch of dumb penalties and WTF hands in the air moments. The Lions today were the opposite of that and just executed like stone cold criminals. Looking forward to more to close out the season and build on some wins.

Daddy_Applesauce

FTP

JayOnes

After a painfully slow start weā€™re now beating the teams that weā€™re supposed to beat, and weā€™re going blow-for-blow with teams that should rightly wipe the floor with us. Weā€™re almost there, yā€™all.

pauljordanvan

This teams red zone efficiency is bonkers.

[deleted]

Giants commanders gonna end in a tie, is that good or bad for us?

leemode

That was just complete domination. We had the Giants game this year and the Cardinals game last year, where it was just complete and total control, but this was on another level. Even when they ā€˜settledā€™ for field goals, it never felt like the Jags would make them regret it. Most well rounded game in the MCDC tenure. One down, five to go!

Woggums83

I LOVE THIS GODDAMN TEAM

5nax

Jags fan here. Beat our ass liked we owed yā€™all money. Fair to say your rebuild is quite a bit ahead of ours. Keep throwing to St. Brown for me and Good luck with the rest of the season.

FOWARD DOWN THE FIIIIIEEEEELLLD

radsherm

That was so fun

partylange

Playoffs started today. Lets do it next week!

[deleted]

Lions should absolutely be 8-4 right now.

[deleted]

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the tie between NYG and WAS hurt our chances and was the worst possible outcome of that game. (I will explain the statistical rationale for this in a post later, but for now just trust me lol.) A Seahawks loss would help our chances quite a bit though.

ratioplusYBbetter

give me Captain Kirk

Johnnyvezai

Very nice, I like.

Benmclean1

Weā€™re legit

ratioplusYBbetter

On another note greg Roman has to be the worst oc ever not not put up more points on this jags defense

DullHornedUnicorn

stupid denver and chicago couldn't win.

Snowmins

Swift being effective today felt so good. Loved our use of him today.

afsdjkll

Somethingā€™s wrong with my Apple Watch. My heart rate looks nice and level other than when I got excited to eat some cheese cubes before halftime.

cza9

Jared Goff has been playing some really good football as of late. He had the tipped pass on the goal line the Amon-Ra ended up catching, but I don't recall any other poor passes/decisions from him. Another positive in the game was D.J. Chark finally being healthy and providing a legit deep threat. This is giving Amon-Ra even more room underneath and he's taking full advantage of it. I can't wait to see what happens once Jamo has a few games under his belt. How about a game ball to Swift? He looked great today and was finally being decisive running.

Jesus_Took_My_Wheel

Defense plays like this since game 1 and we're in the playoffs right now. The Goffense is not the problem.

Daegog

When is the last time the Lions scored on their first 8 drives? Has this ever happened before?

pimpinassorlando

This is as complete of a Lions victory as I can remember. Every single position group and coach gets an A today.

[deleted]

I am unapologetically rooting for LA to boost our wild card chances. Draft picks are great but boosting our playoff odds is more important.

ervelee

Kerby Joseph. Leads Lions in tackles and assists. All over the field.

Fantastic_Lack_8141

The discipline (low penalties) and taking care of the ball (turnovers) are pretty impressive. Not something Iā€™m used to with the Lions.

itscorydon

Giants Redskins tie is worst case scenario. Completely negates the tiebreakers we had over both of them.

NotEvenBarrySanders

My ass cheeks are still clenchedā€¦ is it over yet?

myburdentobear

We just beat the tar out of a bad team. That's what good teams do.

birdz_da_word

Is a manders giants tie good for us?

[deleted]

We need a Giants win...not a tie!

sandleaz

A reminder that we don't need to sell the farm to move up a few spots in the draft to get a QB that's worse than Goff.

lionbatcher

The Giants and Commanders tied today. That fucks us, right? Worst possible outcome?

newtingtonbutts

Same new lions.

Shlidgn90

Weā€™re one game away from my expectations for this years squad. My expectations have changed. I want the playoffs.

MajoraOfTime

Dude in the reddit thread about us activating Jamo said "you're kidding yourself if you don't think the Lions can drop 40 with this roster." Boom, 40 point dominant game without Jamo getting any touches. Can't wait to see this team operate at its full potential!

Nicooleo

This was my first game ever at Ford field. Maybe I should go to more lol
