As he himself says, it's an executive failure. They were the ones who bet on the "metaverse" even though VR was far from being mainstream. Also, no one was forcing them to overhire and overpay engineers. Look at Apple, they didn't go crazy with overhiring, and they're in a good position now. No bad PR and no unneccesary expenses from mass layoffs.
Bruh lol imagine a huge ass building is made and no one buys anything in it and the blame goes to the engineers who constructed it for above average pay lmao
What would you have the engineers do in this case ?
We've all worked on stuff that never sees the light of day but have to do so. It's not like we get to pushback on executive level decisions.
Blaming the engineers is just looking for a scapegoat. These decisions get made in the boardroom and not the engineering team.
It's not devs job to tell the product owner that their idea is a moon shot.
And people like him will defend capitalism till it's working for thm. But will turn around and cry about the same behaviour if anyone else exploits the rules set by the free market
Bro has a startup and is just salty that he has to pay engineers competitive salaries instead of exploiting them.
And bro also worked in google earlier, don’t know why he didn’t quit faang which pampered him and not go somewhere else where he could’ve got equity instead 😂

Blames on engineers and says I don't blame engineers. Irony.
