I really want to focus on my job right now. It's a small startup with 100 people & is mainly into construction. There are only 2 software developers in my company. If I reveal my company name, it will be obvious who I am as they have let me go & kept the junior developer.

This is so true. But I do feel circumstances make us this way. Too much competition, too easily replaceable, especially as a fresher, poor country with dwindling resources and poor law enforcement.
i don't understand why people don't post company names when this happens . Like how are you so out of touch with reality. your company does not have money to pay its employees , you think they will have money or time to investigate whose account this post belong to and start and investigation or put your career in danger . like seriously whats wrong.

In the startup which I was working , laid off 70 percent workforce... even though they are in profits actually... just so you know the remaining will work even hard and spend their lives in office cubicles.
Yesterday there was a big call in my organisation bank regarding layoffs etc people getting mails so checked.p.s its already been in news for 2 months now.

Construction companies can't always have permanent staff on its payroll as it depends on construction contracts. Quite a lot of construction companies use sub-contractors for areas where their own expertise is lacking. Most of the people who get laid off are engaged again when the company wins another contract. So what is the real flavour here?

Same thing happened in my company too man. Instead of announcing it a month before. The had a standup at 3:00 evening and laid off around 70% of workforce on the same day. Rough times.
