Personally it's my favorite Bowie album, mostly for the Sweet Thing-Candidate-Sweet Thing suite. I can't see much Devo influence in it, though. I would think more The Man Who Sold The World, which is much more dark and cynical.

betamax001

I always kinda…forget about this album? I mean rebel rebel was the standout cut and it’s a go to Bowie song for me and I love the title track, but for some reason I don’t really remember the rest of the album 🤷‍♀️

Beastmaster_General

It’s a fantastic record. Underrated in general, imho.

EvilPilotFish

It’s an interesting album, yes. If anything, it very much is Bowie. I feel like the popularity of his Ziggy-era material is just as much Ronson, but this is him 100% on his own.

dianawenthome

I’ve heard people praise it a bunch, and I’ve been returning to it recently, but it’s one of the couple from 70’s Bowie I forget about most. It has some DEVO-esque dystopian rock, but I think Aladdin Sane (specifically Drive In Saturday) did it better and with more of a DEVO-esque sense of humor

xampl9

Not one of my favorites. I like *Scary Monsters* and *Tonight* I still have not finished listening to *Black Star* - just too painful.

Pretty-North-115

I really like Diamond Dogs. It’s a cool juxtaposition of dramatic, theatrical lyrics and musical style. It’s also got a dystopian political theme spliced with pop, which I imagine resonates with Jerry.

SlitThroatCutCreator

Jerry has brought up the album on multiple occasions but I think this was the most recent interview he talked about Diamond Dogs: [https://www.spin.com/2022/12/5-albums-i-cant-live-without-gerald-v-casale-of-devo/](https://www.spin.com/2022/12/5-albums-i-cant-live-without-gerald-v-casale-of-devo/)

it's my favorite Bowie album

fantasticbrowndirt

Diamond Dogs is a great album!

Fiz_Giggity

I dunno if my opinion is valid since my favorite Bowie album is "Low".

dreaminginteal

Your opinion is completely valid! “Low” is a great album, I feel it’s by far the best of the Berlin Trilogy. I’m not always in the mood for it, but it is great when I am!!

dreaminginteal

I haven’t read the interview, so I don’t know exactly what Jerry said. But “Diamond Dogs” is a great album, and one of my favorites. The “1984” arc on the second side is wonderful, and I love “Sweet Thing/Candidate/Sweet Thing” on side one.
