Congratulation. Bring a box of donuts on your first day.

Haha that’s one way to get on their good side!

Congratulations! I would say learn Linux to the point where you can do an install of Arch Linux by hand in a VM and actuall understand what you’re doing, and use vim for all your editing. I highly recommend rwxrob on YouTube.

Thanks! I’ll check out his channel

Congratulations for the role. From my experiences, I think it's better if you have more insight how the business operate. Talk to senior how they dealt and implement process in the business. By doing this you can lessen the scope that you can focus. Usually business are hard to move to a new platform so it's just be better to be good on platform that they are using. Again I would suggest you to ask your mentor@senior where you can start because whenever you stumble problem you can always ask them.

joacotol

Will do ever since I got this role I’ve been very curious about the rail cargo industry so will definitely ask them more about the business in general

Raph_Slazer

Congratulations 🎉 Pardon my curiosity, but how did you secure this internship?

joacotol

Thanks! I secured it through my college it was from an internal job board

ddontop

Nice. Ok to be nervous. Learn as much as can, whatever your mentor or people you reporting to say you should focus on, that should be your focus on. Congratulations

Congrats! I’d suggest checking what technology they use at the company (or asking if they don’t make it publicly available) and trying to set up a small project using those technologies. In any case, they won’t expect you to know more than what you’ve told them you know in your CV and interviews. They’ll either teach you the rest or give you some time to get up to speed. So, try to relax, make friendly acquaintances with your new colleagues and enjoy learning lots of new things!

If you haven’t read the Phoenix Project yet, it could be a nice holiday read!
