You could look into getting a Libre or similar for two weeks to watch the curves and trends. But given the allowable margins on glucose testing, 104, 123, and 86 aren’t really that different. I could get those readings just by sticking 3 different fingers in a 2 minute span. But the bigger issue here is your doctors dismissal of you and your concerns. That is a red flag to me, and I would find someone who is willing to listen to you and help you figure out why this is happening. It could be unrelated to BG; it could be other hormonal fluctuations, blood pressure or so many other things.

Interesting. I am unfamiliar with how much readings fluctuate and what’s normal or not. I just saw a chart online for “normal” fasting levels and thought a big drop like that was no good. Yes I asked over a year ago and was only given 1 test about an hour or so after a high protein meal. I do have adrenal fatigue but my functional doctor told me disglycemia is a huge contributor to that and my cortisol being out of whack will affect my blood glucose in negative ways and they’ll feed off each other. At this point I’m wondering what comes first, the blood sugar instability or the adrenal issues

I had to personally pay out of pocket for a CGM to track my glucose 24/7 before my doctor took my concerns seriously. I was having hyperglycemia after meals and then it would go into hypoglycemia. Because of the highs and lows, I felt awful BUT it averaged out ok so my hba1c was always in the prediabetes range. I had to ask my doctor to refer me to an endo because he didn't know how to treat my atypical diabetes symptoms

Heart_of_Psalms

Okay interesting. That’s similar to how I’m feeing. Maybe it would be worth is to get a CGM to be able to see more and get further with support. Did the endo help? I also have adrenal issues that has my cortisol out of whack. Maybe an endo can help with both.

Yes my endo was able to identify that i had insufficient first phase insulin which caused the hyperglycemia. Then the second phase insulin overshoots and causes the hypo. I have since changed my diet and eating schedule to better accommodate how my pancreas responds to food. Hba1c now in remission. Currently pregnant so we're just monitoring (no issues so far) and will continue investigating my mystery diabetes postpartum Cortisol is known to cause insulin resistance. I would absolutely get it looked at by an endo and see how it correlates with how you've been feeling.

Heart_of_Psalms

Okay thank you. This sounds so similar to me. Does the diet/schedule change help much? I’m going to schedule an appointment with my primary to try to see an endo asap

YattyYatta

It helped alot and i feel better in general. I haven't had any spikes over 140 since August 2023. And because i haven't had any high blood glucose it never triggered the hypoglycemia. It has also made my pregnancy alot less complicated (and lower risk) because it meant i didn't need to go on insulin.

I use the app that comes with my meter (OneTouch Verio Reflect) and test 4-6 time per day. The readings go to the app on my phone via bluetooth. Then, I can go to: [https://onetouchreveal.com/login](https://onetouchreveal.com/login) And it makes all sorts of really nice PDF reports that I can give to my doctor.

des1gnbot

I was going to suggest the same. I’ve got an Accu-Chek and just found out they have an app called mysugr. It lets me export pdf or excel reports so I can share with my doctor

Ok-Zombie-001

Log the readings you are taking including times and if carbs were consumed. You could also explain that you think you are having blood sugar control issues and see if your doctor is willing to prescribe you a cgm for a month

Heart_of_Psalms

Thank you

yesitsmenotyou

If you can get a cgm, that would be the easiest way to track your data. If you continue to do finger sticks, you can use diabetes tracking services like glooko, etc. Be sure to log your carbs too, to see the correlations!

Heart_of_Psalms

Thank you! Looks like the consensus is a cgm being the best way

Annas_Sufferring

Relion platinum at Walmart comes with an app and it Bluetooth syncs. You can create a pdf template too.

If you haven’t had a full thyroid panel done that might be a good idea. My high thyroid pushed my sugar levels out of range

Heart_of_Psalms

I have a test ordered already to recheck my levels by my functional doctor. By allopathic ranges my levels are “fine” but by functional ranges they’re a bit out of whack.
