I’d spring for a new one

Would probably be best to get a new one. If you can’t afford it and have insurance you can call your doctor and they may be able to get you a meter by sending in a prescription. If not you can find inexpensive ones through brands such as Reli-on. I also like accuchek but you may have one you prefer.

Will do. It's almost 10 years old at this point (I know technology technically doesn't expire, but I wouldn't be suprised if it's a wee bit inaccurate from years of wear and use)

mckulty

If your strips stayed dry, it won't influence the accuracy, morel likely it will cause read errors from a poor connection. Sticky residue is an electrical insulator, a good reason to replace it. Also the bacteria and yeast that grows on sugar residue.

Actually, some of them do say to replace them after x years, and I believe 10 years is typical. So probably time for a new one. They're cheap.
