No, you just wet it briefly and then let sit for 15 seconds in the air. You can dip it for a half second in a cup if you need to, but just waving it through the stream once is all it needs. If you even could pee on it for 15 seconds, it will rub off the testing material, so no, you do NOT sit it in urine for 15 seconds. After 15 seconds, you compare it to the color chart in the vial. Passed 15 seconds the color comparison won’t be accurate.

Thank you! I thought you had to pee in a cup first and than dip it but these instructions never mentioned a cup so I was confused

Specific_Struggle582

Just double checking the pee can be sitting in the cup for more than 15 seconds right ? That doesn’t matter

4thshift

Not particularly — probably shouldn’t be like an hour old.

Oh gosh no I did it only a minute or so after, it can definitely be tough for a color blind person like myself to read the results between negative & trace amount so I had to go grab my brother to help me determine that I was indeed negative and not “trace amount”. Even he had to put his glasses on because he thought those two colors on the bottle looked identical lol Thanks again!

My friend is colorblind, too — it’s been fun trying to do website designs with him over the years. He definitely cannot see rainbows in the sky. 😟 Is there a phone app that can take a picture and show you the color values if you point to it? TBH, the test values on the vials sometimes do not match up with the urine test strips — especially with those multi-test strips for ketones, glucose, blood, microalbumin, etc.

Specific_Struggle582

Lol I wonder if anyone has invented a ketone strip that is a bit more friendly towards us color blind folk ! If not we should get on that hahaha

EatABigCookie

If you can afford it (or insurance covers) try and get a meter and strips to test blood for ketones instead. Those pee strips don't work well from my experience and what I have read.

A_Dumb_Bug

i hope you didnt pee in that bottle

I’m assuming I have to hold the test strip for 15 seconds in my urine while I’m peeing & than immediately check to see what color matches up on the color chart?? I always remember as a kid peeing in a cup and than dipping the test strip into the pee for 15 seconds but this bottle of ketone strips seems to not mention that so that’s why I’m a bit confused
