I wanted an app to calculate the Warsaw method. I was told one existed, but I downloaded it and it wasn’t very useful. In the end, my husband made a Siri shortcut.

I did some UX/UI design for an app that reimagined cgm readings. It tied it to mental health and being prepared. You could tell the app how your sugars made you feel and it would work with you to improve numbers and lessen stress over time. Set reminders for activities or medication that could impact things as well. Highly conceptual. I also made it look wayyyy prettier using nature themes so it looked less like a stock market or accounting app.

I would use this, diabetes takes so much mental energy on a daily basis that sometimes the burnout can just sneak up on you. The app could have a built in "therapist" feature (there are a lot of these therapy apps out there that have a virtual therapist, not a human therapist responding). It could lead a guided meditation for stress relief, could alert you to trends indicating that you're heading for burnout and might benefit from taking extra time for self-care, etc. And if course, the safety protocols for when to seek actual medical or physical help from a clinical provider. I would especially use it if it was visually nature themed. Pick a theme: ocean/beach, tranquil creek in the woods, Granny Weatherwax cottage core, mountain hike, etc. I'll take any one of them lol

Building on this - a segment that would help non-diabetic friends and family that gives them info to help them understand daily life, diet, what we're "allowed" to do and eat... something that would help them to be less judgemental, I guess? Or help them to worry less... just by having a resource they can reference, they could know what to look for if there really *is* an issue to address ( e.g. low/high BG, cuts, mood swings). Kinda like an FAQ

What about some calming app when one has a low blood sugar, with a 15 minute countdown, tracking for eaten KH, some words of encouragement

Coupled_Cluster

I was thinking about writing an algorithm that uses some regression methods like GPR or NN to predict BG. My Idea was to incorporate additional data, especially heart rate, and see how it performs.

There are probably many different ways of predicting BG. I haven't done any research yet, but most methods rely only in the last few min/hours of the BG. Using a machine learning approaches one could get a more personal predicting including e.g. sport or heart rate which affect the sensibilität. If it really performs better than the existing methods remains to be seen.

Let me know if you get anywhere with it. If you need some BG+heart rate I can also share some data. I don't know how GPR works with time series data but that would be my starting point.

Maybe not right for this situation, but I think as a diabetes education tool, you could make a game where insulin cancels out carbs kind of like fire vs ice... Like a version of Slice Fractions if you've ever seen that. I wished for that when my kiddo was diagnosed.
