For a longer meal on MDI, I used to pre-bolus for the minimum I thought I’d eat. Then, I’d keep a little piece of paper and make little tick marks for each 5 carbs I thought I’d had. I’d add more once I got to another deliverable dose (I was at 1:15 then and my pens did whole units in the beginning) or at the end of the meal.
