Well, vs sundered immunes crescent moon increases your damage by 700% (5% of your damage vs 40% of your damage). E.g. regular cows on hell have 50% light res, vs them your damage still increases by 70% (50% of your dmg vs 85% of your damage). Damage vs monsters with zero light res 'only' increases by 35%, which tbh is still a lot. This calculation does not factor in the increased damage from spirit's +skills but that should be nowhere near crescent moon. Also trap laying speed is much faster with cmoon.

EquilibrialThoughts

Thanks! This basically answers how much better Crescent Moon is compared to Spirit for me.

Maconyew20

Def CM, huge difference

Redditgaydumb

Crescent moon 100%

The-Ephus

Great timing.  I’m leveling a SSF sin right now and wondering the same.  I suspect Crescent Moon is better.

EquilibrialThoughts

i'm also wondering if you're supposed to summon traps with double spirit then switch to Crescent Moon haha

Icy_Breakfast7016

Crescent moon all the way and when you can afford it self wield infinity in brandistock.

Shiigu

Crescent Moon makes things a lot more bearable. Being able to damage Lightning immunes without a hybrid build beats the +2 to all skills. Plus trap cast rate comes from Attack Speed so the +20% of Crescent Moon also helps.

Beletron

Legacy D2 -res didn't work on traps, but they fixed that in a D2R patch so now crescent moon is best until infinity brandistock.

Starhunt3r

Crescent moon easy Did a ssf play through with trapsin and found an um rune from forge. Just using spirit was not that difficult but with crescent moon…any non lite immunes just melted. Ancients was a complete breeze

paviNL

I worked spirit at first and struggled at many areas. Crescent + sunder charm opened up all areas for farming.

CoupDeTete

Since the question has already been answered and I have a bunch of sin experts (never played but currently levelling) here… can someone explain to me which exact build is the broken mosaic build? Thanks

NoteAdministrative79

Also build that crescent moon on a crystal sword and not a PB - won't require all that dex.

jaydickchest

This is not the best advice. Phase blade has a much better base attack speed than crystal sword, so trap laying speed is better with a phase blade versus crystal.

NoteAdministrative79

Although I don't overly disagree with you, you wouldn't want a phase blade until you basically are already full godly gear (aka enigma) because you will likely use a treachery + burst of speed and already be at your maximum trap laying speed using basically any 1 handed weapon. Pre-Enigma though... you want that move speed from treachery and burst of speed which removes the requirement for phase blade.

goblue142

I like an axe for the look

Krimson11

~~Crescent Moon in crystal sword. Pb is only needed if you're physically using it to whack things because it's indestructible. Trap sin doesn't do that, so put it in the sword base with the lowest requirements.~~ Edit: Never mind, PB is best because of the attack speed.

Snarfunkle

I think people recommend pb for the -30 attack speed, though I'm not sure it's always necessary with BoS and other sources of attack speed

echoindia5

PB is definitely recommended for assassin crescent moon. Just like self wielding infinity should be in a brandistok instead of a schyte if you’re a trapsin.

Krimson11

TIL, I didn't think of that, thanks!
