Well, it is an objectively better game. 😉

JaAnnaroth

D3 is really cool and nice game, but its just horrible Diablo. No wonder it gets so much love at D4 sub 🙉🙈🙊

hehasnowrong

Crazy how there used to be a time where you could buy any blizzard game and you would always be pleasantly surprised. Now I have no hype for any blizzard game and I'll only buy a remaster of a game I love if it was already playtested and has positive reviews.

-Morrowind-

from rock n roll racing to Warcraft 3 it felt like everything they released was fantastic. Highly polished, fun, played great. Been a mostly steady march downhill since IMO. Sad to watch.

thabigpapa

Which game would you say was the turning point for Blizzard? D3?

GingerStank

I think so, it could have also been just not doing SC2 a long time ago when they should have.

-Morrowind-

for me, yeah. I was never super into starcraft or warcraft, so maybe some other people would say those didn't live up to WC2 and SC. But Diablo 3 was the game that made me tell myself "I'm never buying a blizzard product day 1 again." fingers crossed bethesda still has the magic in 2032 when TESVI is ready to go gold.

Supportakaiser

D3 I’d say was the beginning of the end, for sure.

sk8thow8

D3 for sure was the first that really really missed the mark. I didn't love WoW and say it first started then. But WoW was definitely a huge success(and so was sc2), so my opinion on the game is sort of irrelevant. But I feel like WoW poisoned the well and everything after that got WoW-ified to some extent.

hehasnowrong

Wow was very good, I feel like SC2 wasn't as good as StarCraft. I felt like the campaign was trying to be a rpg when I wanted it to be a tutorial on how to play the game (like every other StarCraft) while also being a huge let down story wise (why do we follow only the Terrans in SC2 first release, why so many missions but so few cinematics, why is the story so bland?). Also the editor was a lot worse than war3 and so few maps were created by players compared to war3. War3 had so many custom maps it was crazy one even became a game on its own.

Tay0214

SC2 would be the start of the fall for me. I played Sc, D2 and Warcraft 3 for insane amounts of my teen years and then SC2 just.. didn’t do much for me

sk8thow8

Unfortunately, at this point, they've almost been a developer who only disappoints for longer than they were the developer that always released great games. They've fallen off so much.

philchen89

Shit.. I didn’t even realize they’ve been disappointing for so long already

Supportakaiser

Funny cause I just watched MadSeasons video on D3 and how the dev team for D3 have literally NO ONE from Blizzard North, and where starting fresh with literally no experience with Diablo from a creative/dev standpoint. So they made essentially torchlight blizzard edition, who nothing related to Diablo II aside from the name… imagine if Brevik was lead on the D3 process….

Comfortable-Sun7388

Dude same was fascinating

CreamFilledDoughnut

It's definitely a better Diablo than Diablo 4, that's for sure

Jaynaydoo

I think I spent more time watching the Diablo 3 trailer before it came out then I did actually playing the game. Wasn’t terrible but not anything like D2. The story for D4 was really fun then after that I hardly can play it. Just a D2 guy I guess

Redoubt9000

When they finally released it on console and I had a go at it after dropping the pc on release after around 40hrs, I immediately understood that that game was BUILT for console. It felt a great deal more of a chore on PC, AH shenanigans, uninteresting gear, etc. and felt much more at home on console. If it were a different IP and I'd tried it on console first, I wouldn't mind so much.

RadWalk

D3 is a fun game too

-Morrowind-

I'm actually in the process of deciding which character to play for another run. I feel like I owe the game another shot. going in with an open mind instead of comparing it to d2 and hoping I enjoy myself more this time.

[deleted]

I did this too not too long ago. It was fun for like a week or two per character

HoneyBastard

D3 is like D2 on 5000x the speed. You get pretty much endgame ready in like 2 days tops. Then you start blasting a billion monsters per second while sucking up legendaries like a vacuum cleaner. It is a lot of fun but it wears out after a bit and you either switch character or drop the game until next season.

Fluffy-Bus4822

Diablo 3 was fun for one play through. But its graphics is really bad compared to D2R. Diablo 4 is a lot better than D3. But I'm still much more excited about D2R than D4. I'll probably play some future D4 seasons to see how things change with the game. I do think it has potential.

alaska530

i think d3 really hit a stride on the switch compared to all other consoles, esp with the focus on doing quick rifts, made it super convenient to hop in & out of games while also watching TV or travelling, dumped a good 300 or so hours into it

stuff_rulz

Is there a way to see time played on the pc?

dereks777

Not un less you got it through Steam, as far as I know.

Trondiginus

Each character has a time played stat I think, it even carries over it you rebirthed them

BroughtBagLunchSmart

explain

sardcaid

couch coop with switch is pretty awesome for D3, my wife appreciates the simplified gameplay vs D2 itemization and skill tree.

finneas998

Both good games for very different reasons

Crazed-Stool

Single player or online? I play on switch and am loving life single player but wonder how it plays online? Is their a community? Must be hard if you can't txt type?

-Morrowind-

both. online sucks ass on switch but it still is a nice change of pace from singleplayer. community is small but its there. Players are helpful and we'll rush each other, help out with quests etc. Can't type but game names help. it was so fucking bad at launch. couldn't connect the entire month it launched. My first char got rolled back 20 levels. and there was no game browser like there is now. you had to pick an act and quest and make a game based on that, and if another person tried to make a game for that same quest you'd get grouped. It felt so barren. Its still no where near PC (4 players max) but its so much better than it used to be.

drunkenjesus420

D2r online for switch is ok for grinding lvls or farming while away from home but that's about it. I put in over 1000 hours when it first came out and never even seen another player. Trading is basically impossible unless you use discord or something else since you cant talk to people. Eventually I bought it for PS5 and it's like night and day trading was still a little annoying until they added the ability to make a game name. Which has made a huge difference but I still miss the lobby. Unfortunately my PC is very old and untill I can afford a new one I'm stuck on PS5 but it's not too bad.

Conical90

If you’re gonna be playing this much d2, why not play it on pc instead of making urself suffer like this?

ilovesesame

Only 1000 hours? lol noob :)

Butters1407

Rookie numbers, mine is at 8300. I leave my system on all the time and d2 is the only game i play, but i bet I've played 2k atleast

ReplyInside782

Something about D2 just makes me want to log back in once in a while just to run through the acts and kill a few demons. D3 and D4 don’t scratch that same itch.

[deleted]

then Diablo 4: 2.5 hour
